CHM brought in a well-qualified appraiser, a local title attorney, and talked us through the various fees. Kearny, the owner, personally handled our mortgage and was always available by phone. He explained what we needed to do at each step of the process. When we decided to refi, we went back to Carolina Home Mortgage, and they were a pleasure to work with again. Kearny made sure our mortgage was prioritized and processed before our rate lock expired and a federal rate increase went into effect. The loan process from this bank ended up being a complete disaster, where problems arose last minute over things we should have been told weeks earlier. With closing coming up, and our trust in the bank fully broken after a week of fruitless back-and-forth, we decided to get our mortgage elsewhere, but it needed to be fast. I reconnected with Alayna, who gave us a sanity check by confirming the bank was being ridiculous, and snapped into action to help us. I had gathered some paperwork needed to bring down to their office soon after arriving home from work. It was late in the evening and I couldn't find the hours posted. I drove to the office, got out and found the door locked. I was about to get back in my car when an associate came to the front door invited me in to take the needed paperwork.
