On 10/19/24 - Went in for a wash and blow dry. The young lady who did the wash was amazing (Erica). Then another young lady who did the detangling was rough and my hair wasn't moist enough. Curling iron was used for a few curls that lasted only 1 day. The price for a basic blow out and curl process was truly over priced. and not worth it. read more

I recently visited DSimone Artistry on July 7-- Blackout Tuesday -- and it was money well spent. I was able to support a Black-owned business and I left with a fresh hair cut. My hair is so soft and manageable; not greasy or weighed down by products. For the first time in years, my hair feels tamed and healthy! I can't stop touching it either! Beyond just my hair, I was also very pleased with the service. Dianelle, the owner, took her time to first teach me how to understand and work with my hair type. She walked me through every step and I am able to do my hair with little fuss. That alone is priceless. Needless to say, I am very happy with my experience. I left with a new do, plus some supplies to continue cultivating my curls at home with confidence. I will admit, the cost was a bit more than I would normally pay, but the value I received cannot be measured. It was money well spent and I will be setting another appointment in a few weeks for maintenance and color treatment. Noting that some have complained about it being pricey - but you get what you pay for, right? This place time and time again has been my saving grace. I wear wigs and Im pretty adept at applying my own and so I do go here to get a trim, treatments and a braid down. I saw someone left a negative review saying she was overcharged. The one thing to do is to ASK if there is an add on for any services, or if the service is gratius. I recently made the mistake of ASSUMING a take down was free, only to learn later that there was a charge of 50.00 to take out six braids, I did think that was more than I wanted to pay - BUT THEIR PRICE IS THEIR PRICE. I paid without pushback bc while the stylist should have told me, I agree - the onus to find out was on me. Another aside, they ASK you how many braids you want and if there is a particular parting you will go with for your wig (so they braid and space accordingly). I just went yesterday and again had the most wonderful experience. Everyone is so very kind. The products used are great. The stylist are knowledgeable, and while they will recommend treatments etc - I never felt imposed upon or that I HAD to do it. Overall, from a gal who counts her pennies, this place OVERALL, is worth the spend for the experience and health of your hair. Also - I wanted to note that they uplift their workers there - I have booked on 2 occasions the apprentice, who by the way is phenomenal, but whenever there a step she is unsure of, it seems Kizzy and/or D is right there to guide/assist in the most kind and clear way. I love the way they speak to one another. It's such a good vibe. Secretly, I think I go there to soak up the good vibes and the scalp and chair massages...just go...you will be happy! read more

**OVERPRICED***BEWARE Having natural hair can be expensive but this shop is just a scam. I was experimenting with my natural hair and it became really tangled. I was unable to tangle it myself so I made an appointment. The girl that was detangling my hair was detangling it dry and I asked her wouldn't it be better if she detangles it wet but she kept on detangling it dry, which I felt like made me loose more hair. The wash and condition process was fine however I also booked a braid down for a wig. The owner only did 6 bulky braids under my wig. I paid a total of $383.85. Just for detangling, a wash, trim and braid down and the owner did bulky braids that show under the wig? Also, after my hair was done I wanted to dispute the charges because the price was ridiculous. The owner told me that she would reach out to me via email but till today no one has reached out to me. The business is a damn scam. I don't mind paying for good service but paying almost $400 for that service is a big NO. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I needed to find someone to do my hair and makeup for a wedding I had been looking forward to attending for over 4 months. However, the wedding was a morning one that started before all department stores cosmetics centers opened. I found DSimone Artistry listed in Yelp and called and spoke with the owner. It was a pleasant conversation and I was able to book two separate appointments during that week. The first appt was my hair. I was too scared to wait the day of the wedding to get it done, not knowing DA's capabilities, so I visited this establishment a couple days before the wedding. Well, I was surprised and overjoyed with the outcome. Way more than I expected and just what I wanted but more which was a bonus. Now the makeup was planned for the day of the wedding - appt no. 2. Fear again took over because of the unknown but DA took charge and did what she does best. I felt like a million dollars at the wedding and received many compliments. She is approximately 1.5 hours away from my home but I would do it again and I will see her again. BTW, the owner has a beautiful personality, easy to talk to, humorous and takes the necessary time to understand her clients' needs and desires.
