Although there are several DSW shoe stores near my home, I keep coming back to this one! The inventory in stock is one of the largest in the DMV. Also, they are great sales and prices on their clearance items, which is fully stock with shoes that are more in style and in season; not as dated as some stores. I would agree with some of the comments here that at times when I come to the store, the customer service is a hit or miss. There are times when you are greeted as soon as you come through the door and/or someone ask if they may be of assistance. Other times, it can be crickets and the staff here seem to walk around as if they don't want to be bothered. lol. This does not bother me personally, but I can see how others may be offended, especially when you're spending your hard earned coins in this store. A little customer service, goes a long way.Other than this, I have no complaints. Between the huge selection that seems to be ever-changing and well stocked items for males needing larger sizes, this store is the place to shop for me. For males, there is a huge selection of male athletic, hiking/walking shoes, and dress to casual shoes as well. As for the females, there are plenty of shoes, variety of styles, and accessories (bags, belts, clothing, etc). as far as I can see across the floor of the store. You can't go wrong with this place...imho. Of course, I'll be back. And, I recommend For the conscious buying "shoe lover" --as they call it here looking to save a few dollars or buy shoes on the cheap. read more

This DSW unfortunately did not have a large selection of shoes and we noticed the prices on some pairs were higher than other DSW locations. We will visit another location or online in the future for a wider selection of products. read more

The store has a great selection with very competitive prices. I don't buy shoes very often, but when I do this store always has what I like. Usually it's a replacement walking shoe or sporty shoe. read more

There was no attention in the corridors and when I paid for my shoes that cost more than 100 dollars, the cashier girl who also speaks Spanish treated me a little rudely when I asked if I could get a discount and when I told her that please I wanted Talking to the manager, she replied that the manager couldn't do anything to give me a discount. please talk to this cashier girl, that when a customer asks her to please call the manager, she does it cordially and does not take rude attitudes so that the customer finishes paying to serve the other customer on the line. read more

My wife and I have shopped at this location for over 30 years at least with a VIP status. A few days ago I started receiving multiple emails from DSW about a limited offer of $25 off of a purchase of $49 or more. The email said the offer was good for in-store or online with the code CIDER25. I went to this store explicitly today because I had business in the neighborhood. I don't live conveniently near the store. I did find a replacement for some sneakers that I was wearing (bought previously at this store) as well as an additional pair of other shoes. Total purchase price was about $125. When I attempted to check out the check-out clerk informed me that that if I didn't have a print out of the explicit email with the offer they could not honor it and that the code was good only for online shopping. It didn't matter according to the clerk whether the email stated this or not. I asked to talk to the manager who appeared and repeated the exact same song and dance but also told me that the only $25 offer available at DSW currently is a $25 discount on a purchase if I were willing to buy a $50 gift card. So according to the manager I would need to buy a $50 gift card plus the $125 for the 2 pair of shoes to get a $25 discount for a total purchase of $150. In other words I could have the promised $25 discount provided I spent $50 more to get it. Nobody at this store even looked into the VIP account or even considered asking the main office about the email. Did they think I was lying about the DSW email I received? Once back home I reviewed the DSW email to verify that I had read it correctly and found nothing but what I had already seen. I then logged into AMAZON where I ordered the exact same 2 pair of shoes for $95 with free shipping and free returns. I used to go in the store at Bailey's Crossroads but thanks to computers, I can look online and order by phone. I was cursed with very large feet due to my father who had a 14 AAA shoe size. Because of my large shoe size, it is very difficult to find comfortable shoes at a reasonable cost. Whenever I order from DSW.com, I almost always get shoes that are comfortable and that last. I have a pair of New Balance leather court shoes that I paid around $50.00 for, and I have had them for close to five years. Whenever I go to DWS, I feel as though I could possibly have a slight addiction to shoes. I want ALL of them!!!! It's just about summer, so that means sandals!!! Yaaayyyy!! I came here for neutral color, or brown strappy sandals with a wedge type heel. I usually go to the sale rack first and see what I can find there, and then walk through the isles of never-ending-shoes. After trying on about 15 pairs of shoes and walking around in them to make sure I was able to walk and function in them without pain and discomfort, I found two pairs of comfortable mid-heel sandals. One neutral at regular price $40 bucks, and the other black on sale, originally $80, on sale for $35. They have a pretty good points and rewards system, but you need to go there frequently for it to make a difference, like at least four times per year, and monitor your points and the specials. Every shoe you could possibly need or want is here. To stay on the safe side, I do not make this place a habit. I have no control!! read more

This is my preferred DSW stores in the area. The store is one of the larger ones, with good selections on the floor and in the clearance section. Most cashiers know what they are doing. They can deal with returns and multiple coupon codes, or return and apply the previous coupon to the current order...etc. But there are usually not enough cashiers working so the lines are usually long. Recently, I used the "order online, pick up in store" service for the first time. I was not satisfied with the service. I was there to pick up 3 pairs of shoes. The cashier had trouble finding the shoes based on the email I showed him. I was able to help him when I spotted the right combination of shoe boxes of the shoes I ordered. 1 of the 3 pairs of shoes were wrong. When I pointed it out, they went to search for the right shoes. However, the ones they got were wrong again. They eventually got the right pair of shoes. Again, this is with my help - I needed to tell them which shoes I ordered. They should be able to do that by looking at my order. But they did not bother to check the box (bar code/shoe model number) and the receipt to confirm if the shoes matched the order. If I were to ask my husband to pick up the order for me, he would've just took the shoes home. I don't know if I would be able to return/exchange the wrong shoes when the bar code and my receipt don't match. I will continue to shop at this store, but it's unlikely I will use the pick up in store service. read more

06/02/22 - Be aware!! RACIST Manager in front of this store!! Today, the Mid-day Store Manager named "Alex" was completely rude, and maliciously misinformed me about taking advantage of my DSW VIP Benefits: I don't understand why and what his intention was other than: 1) abusing his "manager" position to make customers do things the way he wants overlooking what the DSW VIP program clearly states. 2) He was just being 100% a Racist individual. As I'm checking out I decide to join the free DSW VIP program which gives a 20% discount as a welcome treat, I had $200+ worth in shoes and agreed to join so I could use the offered discount. After I enrolled, he said "you can only use the 20% discount benefit on your next purchase" I say ok... I will pay full price for one pair and let's start a new transaction ("next purchase") so I can use the 20% discount on the rest of my purchase, he said "NO, this discount card you were given with the enrollment takes up to 24 hours to become available...So you will have to come another day if you want to use the discount" I was like ????? Seriously? He said "you can't even comeback the same day, it has to be another day so we can grant the discount offered..we am hold the shoes here for you if you would like" I was very disappointed since it was a good discount and I had already spent a good amount of time there. I proceed to pay for only one pair of shoes and left the store. When I get to my car I read the coupon offering and none of what he said was true and turns out that I indeed CAN USE THE 20% enrollment coupon offered on the same day of joining the DSW VIP program (not with the joining transaction) but we could start a "new purchase transaction right there and then" the benefit is redeemable on the same day and Not how he was directing me to do. Needless to say, I walked back inside the store and exposed him for his poor management guidance. He knew exactly he was doing wrong and all I wanted to do was make a big purchase and take advantage of the benefit offered by enrolling in they lit program,, I wasn't asking for "freebies" they want my enrollment? Done!... grant the discount offered. He apologized for doing wrong just because he was being exposed in front of others other than that I strongly believe he would still be abusing his "manager position" I just know this is just one more of the many RACIST abuses this person commits with some customer as the "manager" in front of this store. read more

This is possibly the worst DSW in the area, I just got back from ordering shoes online to be delivered to their store. I arrive there to pick up the shoes to find them placed in a cut open and broken box. Even with that one of the shoes (as DSW normally does) is stretched out and has a faint smell of foot odor. So this is shoe Mecca, and it is where I come to snag just about anything that might have to do with a boot or dress shoe. The prices are great and the selection for the most part rocks. It is where I picked up a pair of dress shoes for a recent wedding (apparently they from on combat boots at most weddings). It is where I picked up a pair of Ugg Goretex boots on a whim, and I still have those fur-lined puppies today The only thing that I can find wrong here, besides the pair of occasional faux green alligator shoes, is that service can be a bit lacking, but then again, it is a warehouse. I don't often write about major retail outlets, but the service was so friendly at this DSW that I feel I should. I'd never been to this location before (and actually, it's been years since I've been to any DSW), and I visited on a Monday evening, because I hate crowds. Every staff member that I encountered either said hello, asked how I was doing, or asked if I needed any help. My final purchase was complimented, as well. The store is big, clean, well-stocked, and organized, even in the clearance section. I perused for a while, but I had found what I was looking for when I first walked in. I stopped in DSW to grab a pair of new heels for my college homecoming. I ordered shoes from the store in Arlington a few days prior to use the $20 off coupon. I was disappointed because the order was cancelled. Well, Alex was a gem! He was very patient with me and I explained that the order was canceled and I really was disappointed as I lost the coupon and certificate I earned. He asked to see my receipt/email to show proof. I used to hit this place up all the time just to troll the great clearance section. But I've discovered in recent years that if you have a common shoe size (in my case 7.5), you're going to find slim pickings in the clearance racks. The rest of the store has a great selection, and on this latest trip I found 4-5 styles that would meet the specific need I was there for. Make sure to check the quality of items though. On other trips I've found many of the options I picked up were constructed cheaply and out of man-made materials. Prices aren't as good as they once were but you'll still save a few bucks over standard retail. And the staff is very friendly and helpful - making sure you're aware of how to get the coupons they send out, so you'll save a bit more with them too. I've also noticed that a few of the other area discount shoe chains have started to rival DSW in price and selection, carrying many designers you won't find here. So be sure to shop around. read more

3.5 stars, but I'll round up for my love of shoes. The selection here has been getting better. It's where I recently snagged my black flat riding boots for cheaper than it was selling online at dsw. Customer service is generally pretty good, can be a little slow working out issues that aren't really their fault. Case in point, I purchased a few pairs online and wanted to return them. My receipt that I had received for the online purchase only reflected a gift card payment and not that I had also paid by credit card. Without that on the receipt, the store could not refund my credit card. The manager handled the situation well and I was able to get my refund. It just took a bit of time. read more

The selection at DSW is great -- for most people. My biggest gripe is my consistent inability to find shoes in my size here. My size is women's 5.5 to 6, depending on the brand. I can always find beautiful shoes here, but they don't come in my size! If you have smaller feet, you may want to consider another store. I LOVE LOVE LOVE DSW, and I think that this is the best one in the area. Huge parking lot, no problem finding it, plus a MASSIVE women's shoe selection. I have never had an issue finding a size, and I think they always have an awesome selection for whatever I am trying to find. Their discount clearenace selection always has in style shoes that you actually want in a variety of sizes, plus I am a 'Premier Member' so I always get the extra discount certificates. A little lacking in the men's department (but that doesn't bother me, but I can see where some men might be disappointed). read more

Sent to pick up shoes for my girlfriend. Take this as a review from the inexperienced lady shoe shopper - I was not impressed. This place is in fact a warehouse with shoes. It is extremely disorganized and I had no idea how to find the shoes described. I think it took me about 10 minutes longer than it should have. This place should be organized by shoe type and then by designer. Instead its all over the place and because of that, I imagine even the avid female shoe shopper gets lost. I also found the checkout process to be a little bit slow given that it is a massive shoe retailer with lots of customers and long lines. Maybe I just didn't enjoy dropping in and buying ladies shoes, but I have to believe some of this stuff applies to the people who come here for themselves. Don't plan on returning. read more

DSW offers shoes for women/men/children, as well as handbags and other accessories. I believe the Springfield location is a bit better in terms of their selection, especially for the Clearance racks in the back. However, this DSW location is pretty decent if you are able to spend some time sifting through the racks; more often than not, the selection is quite limited, so you have to keep your eyes peeled as well as keep tabs on when they bring in 'new' shipment. I was able to score a pair of Fitflop black patent sandals under $30 (cheaper than TJ Maxx/Marshall's!) from their Clearance section - they only had one size, too, so I was pretty lucky! Vishu (?), who I believe is one of the managers, is a total sweetheart - very professional and makes sure that the check-out line is moving along efficiently - if you're paying by card, he brings a few of you over to his counter in the back to get you checked out quickly. They have a big lot for your car, but make sure you watch out for speeding cars off of the service road as well as those leaving. read more

This is my favorite place to go when I need new shoes. The department stores have them at insane prices, so I usually just head on over here. The store is huge and I usually have to to a bit of browsing before I find something, but I really don't mind because I usually save a lot of money. This DSW in Baileys Crossroads is always packed but the shoe selection is great, along with the customer service. I found leather GUESS knee high boots that fit my calves and were sooo sexy but they only had them in brown, which would go against my "i only buy black shoes" mantra, and the staff called around and found out the DSW in Springfield had my boots in black so they reserved a pair there for me. I also came in here on crutches one day, soon after I got my cast removed, to find some wide shoes that could fit a brace and the customer service was excellent. I had a nice woman who would pick out shoes for me and bring them over. Great place with great options! read more

Very good location with an open layout and sufficient parking (just be careful crossing the service road off of Leesburg Pike). Good selection and ample clearance selections for the ladies. I didn't find what I needed (I will attribute that more to contemporary trends), but my wife found most of what she needed. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I LOVE DSW. I will always choose dsw as my favorite shoe store and will always shop there. With that said, this is the worst dsw location I have ever been to. The front cashier station is so unorganized and they have no clue where anything they need is. I've done store pickup with online orders to this store several times and have had an issue every single time. They very rarely have enough registers open and the wait times are ridiculous, even on a not busy day. I've worked in retail, so I get it and can look past that. What I can't look past, is the customer service. There is one supervisor at this store who is the rudest person I have ever met and insists on speaking to you like you're a five year old. She is condescending and disrespectful and should never be put in front of human beings. Avoid this dsw - there are better locations that don't speak down to you or lose your online orders! read more

This store is enormous! Large shoes selection with a variety of price ranges that would suit any shopper. The clearance area is good also; they are the same quality shoes just maybe the previous years model. This is my first stop for all footware. read more
