Meh! I have noticed a different vibe in this store for sure. The former store manager was so personable & customer oriented, but the current management staff leaves much to be desired & are not very friendly. Tonight took the cake - they were vacuuming a good 2 hours before closing, while customers were shopping. All I could hear was a high pitch whirl coming from the vacuum. Also, DSW employees always ask if you need any assistance or if you were finding everything okay but not once did any of the employees on the floor greet or even make eye contact. I like DSW, the only thing I dislike is how aggressive they are at getting your phone number or email. The cashiers will literally get in trouble by management/corporate if they cannot collect this information and I think that's terrible. First off extremely nice employees. This store is catered more to the ladies, and there's a good reason for that. Us "nutty creatures " purchase less shoes. I will say that they occasionally have an exceptional sale, but I didn't like their rewards program. Email after email. Some people enjoy this, and props to them, as I was really aggravated for some time before unsubscribing. Their dress shoe selection is pretty good. I usually do better with Macys. For athletic shoes, I wasn't overly thrilled last visit. It seems they have a love affair with UA, but Brooks not at all. They still have quite a few running shoes, but the pricing wasn't all that competitive. A clean store and good service. Yet I see these areas as a reason, to give it a average rating. read more

6/6/20 While shopping with my wife, we decided to check out DSW. Looking around I see that Designer Shoe Warehouse no longer seems to have a dress code. Employees are free to wear whatever they like. It makes it harder to tell who is an employee and who is not. I wonder if this has anything to do with the Coronavirus? Or something else all together. Turns out it does have something to do with the Coronavirus outbreak thing. The company doesn't want people sharing aprons or having to wear the same apron. The steps of safty the company is taking. Speaking of safty, the new look of the floor design is something catch and historical for now. One far off day people will forget about this Covid 19 thing. Nevertheless, the staff members I have met so far are keeping a stiff upper lip. The store looks better than I gave ever seen it before. The store manager is on top of things here. I'm glad there is a DSW in this convenient location. They have a good selection generally. Really only shop with a discount. The main reason for two stars is the fact that every time I visit this location I'm treated rudely. My belief is that the managers set the customer service example and are not setting a high enough bar. In fact was there the other day and again was grunted at and rudely told to move over to the next cashier space. When I asked if they could possibly access my account to see if there were any discounts available I was told " No, look it up yourself." I was purchasing multiple pairs of shoes and just left them there. I went home and purchased online with my discount. Now I need to wait to receive them which is less convenient. If there was another shoe store near me I would go there instead. read more

Came in looking for 10 1/2 wides a week ago, couldn't find a single pair. The place was a mess and the only two employees on staff were behind the register checking out other customers. When I went up to ask if they had anything in my size that I had missed they said they didn't have any. Came back this past weekend and it was about the same experience. Not sure if it's a location thing or a corporate decision but I've been buying my shoes in this size for over 10 years from this location and never had issue. Excellent selection of every type of shoe you could ever dream of!! I usually visit DSW whenever I need new shoes for work. So, I visit the website first and foremost to get an idea of what I need for practical reasons. Then, I visit the store and actually try on what I had in mind. I usually pick up a pair of black and brown shoes for everyday at work. However, something illogical kicks in. I end up trying on the most unpractical shoes, the most uncomfortable, trendy styles and end up making a mental note to come back and buy them all!! After I go home with my practical purchase of work shoes, I end up receiving all these coupons which justifies the illogical shoe purchases. If you are addicted to shoes, this place can be very dangerous!! I used to have over 50 pairs of shoes. I know - don't ask!! So, really have to practice control here. The store can be very overwhelming if you're not certain what you're looking for. What can I say, they have tons of shoes from mid-range-moderately priced and up. Great customer service, although you sort of help yourself in the ocean of stacked shoe boxes. Nice layout. I've never had any issues with a return nor exchanges. Not all DSWs are created equal. This one is a little bit smaller than the others in the area, so expect a slightly smaller selection, especially in the men's department. However, I will sometimes luck out and find my size in something I have been looking for when the other area DSWs only have sizes 5 and 6 left. So that is a plus. However, make sure you check the boxes before you buy! On my last visit, I found a return on the floor that was clearly marked as a defect, out on the shelf at regular price... not cool! I just had a really good experience at the store in Fairfax. My favorite employee was there. She greeted me by name and it's been quite sometime since I've seen her last. She said she remembered me by name because my email was such a unique email. Either way that's kudos for remembering me. So I came in and donated a pair of shoes. That got me 50 DSW points. Which brought me up to 100 points and that gave me five dollar coupon. I also had an additional five dollar coupon in hand. I also had a $50 DSW Christmas gift card. She also pointed out that there was an additional 20% off today on the VIP card. So at the end of the day I walked off with paying $11 for a pair of $85 men's winter boots perfect! Score! The store is convenient, but doesn't have as full a selection as some of the others in the chain. That said I was ready to buy two pairs of Birkenstocks tonight at $110/each and got there right before closing, something that I was informed of the moment I walked into the store; yet I was not asked if I needed help to find anything which likely would have expedited the process. I found another pair of shoes that I was going to buy as well when I finally found the small selection of Birkenstocks. Then, I made my way to the line to check out where there were two people at the desk and one just walked away with a line and a seemingly complicated transaction at the desk. Rather than listen to the perpetual statement that they're closed, I put back the Birkenstocks and left the store. I guess business is stellar for this location when the lack of customer care has about $300 in one quick sale walk out the door because I didn't find the atmosphere to be welcoming and appreciative of one's business. Rather than try to come back when there's an appropriate amount of time for the staff to deign to be friendly to a customer, I'll just order directly from Birkenstocks or Nordstrom. It's quite a push to set the tone with a customer who knew what he wanted that they close in a few minutes and offer no assistance. I'd not bother coming here within an hour of closing, since then you might get to buy the three or four pairs of shoes that you might wish to purchase. read more

It was a lot easier to find my favorite brand from Nike, Adidas to Calvin Klein dress boots, athletic shoes, casual sandals, designer handbags and accessories at unbelievably discounted prices. Do yourself a favor and don't shop here. They have the worst return policy- I bought a pair of sandals and tried them on for about a half hour in store and decided to take them home. I walked around my house in doors for a few hours and the shoes HURT. I took them back with receipt within 30 days but the manager refused to give me any credit or refund because he said the shoes were worn already, even though they were in perfect condition. Take your business elsewhere to a store that actually understands shoes feel different after actual use! If you decide to give this store money in exchange for overpriced, bad quality shoes that show wear after a few hours of INDOOR wear, don't expect to see that money back. Was in here the other day looking for sneakers that I can use for work. As I'm looking around in the Men's Sneakers area, not one employee came to see if I needed help with anything. Also, now for some reason they are going over price with the shoes and sneakers now. They were never like this before. What happened to the lower prices that they are known for from the competition? The sneakers they had there were outragous in both styles and prices! The employees that were there, one was on the sales floor talking to his friend while the other one was standing behind the cash register doing nothing. It's a shame that the two that I saw there didn't want to help out a customer that was looking for sneakers for work that I needed. From the beautiful exterior facade, to the huge spacious store with gorgeous painted walls, timber floors, and 3 LCD screens, to the abundance of shoes - this new store is a retail paradise! Surrounded by the rest of this mall which is in desperate need of upgrade (thankfully, they seem to be working on this now), DSW certainly stands out - and deservedly so - this store is truly gorgeous! The selection of shoes is one of the largest I've seen around here. They even have a large room at the back which is dedicated to clearance stock. The staff are friendly and somewhat attentive, and the store is super clean. Just take a step in here, take a deep breath, and look around - DSW certainly has the wow factor going on this one. read more

If you must know, I own a LOT of shoes. I'd say at one point I had at least 40 pairs. Most have come from here. Like the cute boots I just bought today ;) Blowfish! Why do I own so many shoes? You might be confused and think I'm psychotic. But no. It's because this store is gorgeous. The floors gleam with fresh hope, the masses of shoes sparkle and wink in the light. The salespeople smile and basically lead the way to Heaven. Think I'm being dramatic? Wrong. This store has so many shoes that I never fail to find a pair. That might be a problem if you're an addict like I am. So beware! ;P With such a rave review why only 4 stars? It's because SOMETIMES I find them cheaper elsewhere. I think/know they could go cheaper because I know fashion obsessively and understand the markdown that last season shoes should receive. I calculate this in my head before purchasing. My favorite shoe store... that is, if i liked shoe stores... I always find a great deal here, and they almost always have the right size. They send ridiculous coupons and sometimes I end up paying only a few dollars for socks, or a purse, or a pair of shoes. I wonder how they stay in business sometimes. It was an okay store. Merchandise seems to be in full stock but I just didn't think they had enough options in sale as the other stores offer. Then they didn't have changing table in the bathroom which is surprising because there are lot of people shop here and lot of families too. They should consider putting changing tables in their restrooms for convenience and sanitary for the baby. read more

I will be brief: Great clearance selection and great selection of shoes in many sizes. This store has a lot of the shoes that you will see online so a great place to go try something on if you are not sure what it looks like before buying a similar shoe (color) online. What I don't like about this place is how it is laid out. The shoes are not really grouped by anything. I would think it would be best to group shoes according to style, designer, or even heel height. I was looking for a pair of Nine West shoes and some were on one side of the store and the pair that I wanted was on the other side. The cashier I had here was so slow. It seemed like it took her 10 minutes to ring me out. They only had one cashier for a huge line at the time. I will come here again, but I will make sure to have someone help me find the shoe as soon as possible so I can get in and get out in a reasonable amount of time. read more

I must give kudos to both the fair Lakes location and Fairfax city location in collaborating together on an online purchase of shoes. After three weeks there was a defect found on the heels that were separating from the main soles of my shoes. The fair Lakes location were out of the style however felt compelled to correct the issue and locatedAnother pair in Fairfax city. I wish to thank the managers for both locations for no problem attitude and very easy exchange after clear documentation this was purchased for just three weeks ago. I had received a coupon that said $20 off if you spend over $49. We each picked shoes that were way over that. When we went to pay I asked the Lady if the coupon worked and she said yes It did. we looked at the receipt walking out and the math did not add up. I have been a customer for the DSW shoe store for years, and today I went to this is store and wanted to buy two shoes, but the supervisor (Lex) and the staff could not help me walk out with even one shoe, because they said they cannot have the sizes of my foot (8.5, or 9): however, when I found one that fits me, they were unable to find the other pair. I needed at least one shoe because I want to start my new job tomorrow, thisthis store could not help me, and as a result, I will never go back and deal with the DSW! read more

As others have noted, the stock here is sad. The children's section is particularly lacking. There are two aisles of girls shoes but only half an aisle for boys shoes. I couldn't find anything to fit my toddler, and there were no sales associates on the floor to help me. read more

Naturally I love dsw they have a wide range of shoes. This location is neither bad nor good they have staff that is very friendly and staff that seems to not want to be there. However I am very disappointed with the company. I purchased a pair of shoes which felt great then wore them later on that day. My feet hurt so bad that I had to buy a new pair of shoes as I was out. The same day I went to the store and told the manager how uncomfortable they were and let him know that I have blisters. He let it be known that when its about comfort there is nothing that dsw can do about it. He also mentioned that they cannot resell the shoes. I personally work for a shoe store and understand but if I am in that same day willing to show you my blisters I would think to be a little more assertive. read more

Extremely rude staff (and store manager made the situation worse/politically wrong move to not calm down her staff), raised their (both of them !!!!) voice over a simple credit card/ID issue while I was calm and understanding ! Result: Came out the door feeling 'little' and embarrassed in front of other people in the line ... I would have empathized w/ their store 'rules ' a lot easier if it was explained to me in a calm and professional manner ! something that never happened Mind you,,, my accent can give people the idea I do not understand them , but believe me ... I shop frequently at this store as it is conveniently located to my home. It IS a self service place, just like all DSW stores, but if you need help, all you have to do is ask. I have a hard to fit, narrow foot and order online often. I have had numerous pairs of shoes shipped to the store with no problem, ever. Sometimes the style just doesn't fit, other times I need a different size and sometimes I hit a home run with a fantastic, comfy, attractive pair of well fitting shoes. Either way, the staff processes the return, orders a different size or finalizes the sale cheerfully and efficiently. I have noticed that most shoe styles are stocked only in neutral colors. If I want something more colorful I almost always have to order it. read more

Honestly the worst stocked DSW ever!! I went there in person 4 times in the last 10 days to try and see if they had my size for a boot. When they did not seem to be getting any more stock, I ordered online to pick up from the store. The order was cancelled due to their inability to fulfill it!!! Online it said the boots would be available for pickup in 4 hours but I did not receive the cancellation email until 8 hours later. Also it took me a full 20 minutes to find an employee to ask for my size the first time I looked for these boots. I love DSW but this store is horrible!!! read more

I decided to buy a pair of shoes online and ship it to this store. I placed my order on the 15th and got my shipping confirmation email on the 17th saying that my order should be deliver to this store within 4-7 business days. BY THE WAY, DSW TRACKING NUMBER NEVER WORKS. So on the 25th, I called this store to check if they received my order yet. The associate said she checked the system and my order was on its way. I waited few more days and still didnt get any email from them to tell me that my order is ready for pickup in store. Therefore, I called this store again on the 30th. This time, the associate told me my order hasn't been shipped yet. Seriously!! After 15 days, my order hasn't still shipped yet and it made sense because the tracking number never works. And what makes me upset was that the first time I called this store the associate told me my order was already on its way, which is not! Why did she need to lie about it? And of course, since they dont wanna be responsible for it, the associate told me to call the customer service online which I did three times. And guess what?!, i was just on hold of their customer service for an hour! And no one ever picked up or talked to me at all. To make the story short, DO NOT ORDER ONLINE AND SHIP IT TO THIS STORE!. DSW IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE AND HORRIBLE IN STORE, ONLINE, AND EVEN PHONE CALL! I WANT MY REFUND BUT NO ONE CAN HELP ME! read more

ok, just know that I take my 5 star reviews very seriously and i don't just hand them out! I gave them 5 stars, not because they have the best shoes anywhere, but because of their absolutely incredible customer service, and genuine commitment to caring for the customer. I had them order shoes for me from another store, because they did not have my size. Not only did they have the shoes shipped to the store for free, but they held them for me and would call me and remind me that they were there and that they were holding them for me. This does not seem over the top, but it was the way I was treated, with incredible patience and respect. It was truly some of the best customer service ever! I brought in an older coupon, I frequently get $300 off coupons from them, and they appologized so profusely for it being expired! That was my fault not theirs, so nice! I also, found a pair of Italian made leather heels there that were supposedly originally $340, they were listed DSW price as $179, but found them in the clearance rack for 70% off so I ended up getting them for $55 after taxes!!
