I was debating between 4-Star (I'm a fan) and 5-Stars (As good as it gets). I decided on 5 stars because of the following: 1. Parking validation 2. Plenty of selections for flip-flops, sandals, summer wedges, summer strappies, pumps, open toes, sling backs, stilettos, boots, booties, flats, purses, and belts at all sorts of colors, materials, sizes, styles and price range. 3. They have an awesome selection for sales as well! I found six pairs of shoes I would have been happy to go home with should my budget have been more accomodating. 4. They have a whole other men's section with great prices and selection as well. 5. The men's side of the store, in a separate building, has a couch with a big screen in front of it playing whatever sport is in season. Horrible customer service experience. I used to love this store so much, but I swear I'm never coming back to pick up an order again. Why send shoes in SEVERAL different orders and say "your order is ready for pick up" when only 1 of the items in my 6 item order is actually there??? In addition, the way they were speaking to several customers was unprofessional and unpleasant to listen to while standing in line... this place went down hill. I love DSW for the selection BUT...all of their online hours say they close at 8:00 pm. At 7:02 I was turned away. They said they closed at 7:00. Very disappointing. If you truly do close at 7:00, you need to change the website and all other online info. If you are really supposed to close at 8:00, you need to talk to your employees. read more

This is THE PLACE to go to for shoes! I love DSW! On my most recent visit, I came here with a coupon in hand (I only shop here when I have a coupon now so that I can maximize my savings... because being a college student doesn't permit me to go money crazy) and was on the hunt to find the shoes... no, not just any shoes, but the shoes for my wedding (I am going to be wearing multiple dresses, so I need different shoes to go with each dress... no this isn't my excuse just so I can buy more shoes :D... or is it?). I walked over to all the pretty dressy shoes that were on display but didn't really find anything that I liked. Then I ventured over to the clearance section and tried on multiple pairs of shoes that were a possibly. After making my poor fiance wait 35 minutes, I found 2 beautiful pairs of shoes for my wedding that only costed me less than $20 per pair! Being on a strict budget for the wedding, this makes me a very happy girl! I always find successful when I come to DSW, which is very important to me because I have difficult feet. I need dressy shoes that are comfortable, not too restricting, cute but not too high, etc... the list can go on and on, believe me. But I always think of DSW (and Normstrom Rack too) as my go to place when I am shopping for dressy shoes. I went to DSW to pass some time at Paseo this past Thursday. On Saturday my kids and I realized we couldn't find one of our bags from another store we had shopped at. I called the store to see by any chance if they had found my bag and they did!!! It could have been easily taken my another customer or kept by one of the employees. Shoes -- the only reason I believe in love at first sight! This particular location is huge in size, huge in selection and huge in deals. Three of my favorite "huge" all in one place! Sweet! I've gotten a $15 of chocolate Charles David pumps, $20 black, strappy Ann Klein heels, $80 Gel Asics when they were retailing elsewhere for $110 and, nevermind... this list can go on forever. My friends have walked out with similar deals and similar loves. DSW is definitely the first place I go when considering buying a new pair of shoes, after a shitty day, because I received their coupon, because I gain or lose weight (shoe size NEVER changes), payday, i need my alone time, when I need my 'girl time, etc. As I mentioned earlier, I only believe in love at first sight when it comes to shoes. Disneyland is the happiest place on earth? I think not! DSW can take Disneyland to town any day for me. I absolutely love this place. It's a giant enormous store full of every possible kinds of shoes you want. You have no annoying salesman with a shoe/feet fetish bothering you or have to wait for someone to find your sizes because all the shoes are right there for you. The clearance racks are the best deal by far. You can get an additional 40%-70% off the sale price. I signed up for a membership so I get emails from them and every time I make a purchase, I get points that goes towards additional future discounts. I've bought a $98 pair of shoes for $23 before on clearance with coupon. The service is always great. There is never really a line and the staff are friendly. I like the Pasadena location the most because the store is so big and they always have a huge selection, especially on clearance. read more

During a recent trip to DSW, I bypassed the women's section and headed straight to the men's shoe selection. Whoa. My friends would be perplexed with that statement, and be all "Really? You didn't leave DSW without a pair of "F ME" pumps or boots? Shenanigans!" I stepped inside DSW with one goal - a pair of shoes for the boy for our monthisary. It was a struggle, really. Michael Kors, Kenneth Cole, Marc Jacobs, and Isaac Mizrahi all screamed, "HEY! STOP RIGHT THERE AND LOOK! SIZE 38.5 (or 8.5)! TRY IT ON" I had to avert the temptation of walking out of DSW with a trunk load of shoes. I stayed focused and moseyed on to the men's section, and picked out a pair for the boy. They had quite the selection and the prices were reasonable. The next shopping excursion at DSW will keep me in the women's side. The selection for women, I'm sure, is fine and dandy, but what about the guys?! After reluctantly coming here for my visiting LA cousin's sake, I had to keep myself occupied at least a little while she shops here for almost an hour! I was in and out of the guy section in 5 minutes (At least my loyal Android kept me occupied the rest of the time). Guys do not have even near as much shoes as the women do. The selection is mainly that for business and casual. Not in the market for business shoes, I browsed the casual shoes. What you'll find are limited racks consisting mainly of Puma, Polo, and Lacoste. Shoes are separated by size in the Clearance aisles, while the rest are scattered around. Prices are average, I wouldn't say they are outlet prices. Again, inventory is very limited; it seems these styles are outdated. Shoe shopping is good for the soul. (Pun absolutely intended). Nothing soothes a girl's troubled and confused mind like shoe shopping. Ice cream makes your ass big, therapists are expensive, alcohol gives you more troubles and talking to your girlfriends just makes you more confused. But shoe shopping. Finding a cute pair, trying them on, outfit ideas running through your head and the thrill of them being at least $10 cheaper than they are at Macy's. It's priceless! Well, the feeling is, the shoes aren't free. DSW is awesome because it's rows and rows and rows of SHOES! Pretty shoes, hot shoes, comfortable shoes, hooker shoes, casual shoes and hideous but funny to try on clearance shoes! Plus, it's awesome to hear or see another woman giddy with excitement over a pair of shoes. I always have to fight the urge to say "I feel ya girl". I only found one pair here today but I mentally noted about 8 other pairs that I want. I'll go back, especially since I got signed up for a rewards card. DSW, I don't even know what those letters stand for. I am here for one thing: shoes. Let me re-state from earlier reviews of other things: I hate shopping. I also want to add I hate shopping for shoes. If I have a pair of shoes I like, I won't skimp on price, but I will insist on taking care of them. I don't have a "metro" outlook on this sort of thing; i.e., I don't fancy myself as a shoe nut and won't collect them. Once I buy a pair of shoes, another pair is disposed of or donated to Goodwill. The review: You enter by a slow elevator ride or take a circuitous staircase and walk across the Mediterranean style walkway of a Mediterranean style outdoor mall. Once there, you can choose to enter the women's section or cross a small bridge to enter DSW. Shoe tastes are completely subjective, but I found that the range of shoes and styles to fit most daily needs. Specialty shoes for light hiking and running can be found here, but if you're training for a marathon or a serious trail-rat, you may want to look elsewhere. It's very much like any other clearinghouse store. The selection changes, your size may not always be available, and it's pretty much a new experience every time you pop in. The staff, thinly spread as they are, are always helpful and agreeable. If you come in with a friend interested in the women's shoe selection more than you, you could always hunker down on the battered couches in the men's section, but I prefer keeping my phone on ready and going down to the Starbuck's downstairs and around the corner. So Friday night, my agenda included meeting some girlfriends at the Yardhouse at Paseo. However, they had plans to go home first to nap and change. Must be nice. I work in Pasadena already so Paseo was a 10-minute drive for me. A lot more appealing than driving home thru traffic, just to come back again later. I decided to be more efficient. While waiting, my plan was to check out the swing/salsa dancing provided by the Pasadena Ballroom Association. They were offering free lessons every Fri and Sat in the patio area and last weekend was the LAST weekend. I figured this was my chance to get my groove and possibly find a Latin lover. :P Once I got there, I had to sudden urge to check out DSW. I figured that should take up some of my time ...plus I had not been there in quite a while. So of course, when the door opened.. it's like this bright light comes out of no where and you hear an angel's chorus... welcome to shoe heaven! I have small feet so it's usually very hard for me to find places that have my exact shoe size, so I was surprised that there were quite a few selections for me to choose from that carried a 5 1/2. I think I ended up goin through every aisle. I don't think I've ever done that before there. I even received a text from my friend asking if I wanted to go with them to Old Town but I passed so I can continue searching through the never-ending aisles of shoes. Four pairs of shoes later, I finally decided to check out. I heart shoes. Shoes make me happy. :) Tho at the same time, I was thinking that someone needed to get there soon!!!! DSW has seriously stepped up their game recently. I went in to make a return, expecting to just pop in and out. However, because my purchase was made with a rewards certificate, the associate let me know that if I wanted to purchase another pair of shoes that day, she would be willing to apply the certificate to another pair of shoes and I had been thinking about getting some new wedges... So I end up browsing the store a little bit and find a pair that I like, but they don't have my size. No problem. I brought the pair up to the associate, who looked online to see if they had my size, and ordered and had them shipped to my house for free. Which, honestly, I like a lot better because I love the fact that I'm getting brand new shoes versus ones someone previously tried on (I'm weird, I know). And I happened to have another reward certificate in my email so I was able to double up, which was awesome. Overall, this store is pretty large, well organized, with a decent sale section. They had a separate part for DSW men, which I didn't get to check out but considering how big the one I was in is, I'm assuming it has a fairly good selection. The sales associates are there, friendly, but not overwhelming. They do validate parking for one hour. If I recall correctly, you cannot stack multiple validations from different places so if you plan to eat or something, it might be better to get the validation from that place, which I would assume would be longer than one hour. It can get pretty crowded and confusing in the parking garage but not the worst I've seen. read more

My late uncle had three daughters and as many wives over the six decades or so that he was alive. Whenever I'd have a bad day he would remind me of the words that he would always tell his girls: "Niece," he'd say, "It's time to go buy a hat." This was his way of saying I should get out and go by myself something "purty." Not being partial to hats, I took Unc's original phrase and substituted the word "shoes." So, whenever I'm decompressing from a tough week - and whenever I get to missing my uncle - I remind myself that "It's time to go buy some shoes." Now, I gotta say, I love shoes. I really do. And I love shoes at a bargain even more. But strangely enough, when I think of buying shoes, DSW doesn't automatically come to mind. Could be the parking hassle at Paseo, or the Sole Overload that happens every time I come here, which admittedly isn't often. Still, I had plans to go to Macy's that day, so I figured why not check out DSW for some new cross trainers, seeing as my running shoes aren't well suited for my kick boxing and cardio salsa classes at the gym. The one thing I'll say about DSW is that it's a great place to live out your shoe fantasies, all with a weird ambient lounge music soundtrack playing in the background. Want to feel what a pair of $400 shoes (at 50% off) feel like? You can do that here. How about some funky brown patent leather pumps with metallic gold and copper toned polka dots? Ditto DSW. Wanna bring out your inner hoochie? There's any number of four- and five-inch heels available for you to try on here. Alas, I did eventually find some decent New Balance cross-trainers and a cute pair of black, strappy wedge heeled shoes, and they only set me back about $89. But then I got home and took a look at my receipt again and realized that I'd been overcharged for the cross-trainers. It wasn't by much, but it was the principle of it. I went back to the store and sure enough, I had been overcharged. I'd like to say that my money was cheerfully refunded, but generally, though the sales folks working the floor were pleasant enough, both cashiers I dealt with were something less than pleasant. Then again, I'd be grouchy too if I had to listen to ambient music all day, under row after row of shoes and way-too-bright fluorescent lights. I think a store like this is cool if you just feel like aimlessly wandering around aisles and aisles of shoes. As for me, I'd prefer to take my chances elsewhere, and will likely only come here if I just happen to be shopping at Paseo...or if I have a strange urge to live out another ambient music shoe fantasy. read more

Parking can be hectic here!! Though it is free, it is a maze and a hassle to find a spot and leave. However! The shoe selection is pretty good here... DSW is located on the 2nd floor so be prepared to take a long elevator ride up. Located in a nice little shopping center, if you cant find something here you can also check out Angl or something. I actually came here to make a return but was tempted by the selection... the sale selection wasn't overly picked over either. There is nothing worse to me then shoe shopping. Shoes are so expensive, there is never a big men's selection, and it is always crowded. This DSW though made shoe shopping such a breeze. I'm a big fan of DSW to begin with because their shoes are generally so much cheaper. What I liked about this DSW is the fact that there was a totally separate men's store. This is such a big improvement over the small back corner of one store. What I also appreciated is the fact that this DSW had a men's clearance section. Most stores don't have any men's clearance sections. I was able to find the shoes I was going to buy in the clearance section. I left the store with super comfy dress shoes at over 50% off the retail price. Score. I may not like shoe shopping, but this took out most of the pain of doing it. read more

This DSW has a wide selection of shoes for women. I almost always find a good find when I visit. Prices are ok but still a little pricey. Steven Madden shoes are usually priced at $39.95 for regular flats or $49.95 for the fancier styles. Seems a little high. But that doesn't stop me from buying them if I like them! They keep a good supply of different sizes. Shelves are always stocked and if they are not, it is probably because the style is on clearance or really popular. Employees are nice and greet you when they see you or are available to help you find a style or size. There is always a clearance rack at the back of the store. I don't frequent it but when I do, it can be a little claustrophobic and overwhelming since the aisles between the racks are super close and there are tons of people swarming them. Overall, I like this DSW. No complaints as of yet regarding the store or its employees. read more

I came here a few weeks ago to buy several pairs of shoes for work. The girl who helped me was extremely nice and even searched all through the store for shoes in my size. If my experience was based on her service and the shoes I would give this place 5 stars. Unfortunately, the trip ended on a bad note. I was waiting in line and there were 2 cashiers. One of them told me there were 2 separate lines so I left my spot to wait for her to ring me up. Well, once she was done ringing up the customer in front of me SHE JUST LEFT. No explanation and with the most sourpuss look on her face. So I had to go back to my original line and wait for 3 people to be rung up before it was my turn. The ring that did ring me up was apologetic but that one employee definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. I will be back but hopefully that rude employee will be nowhere in sight. read more

I am not Emelda Marcos, but I do have a love for shoes and own a staggering number of pairs. DSW totally rocks in the sense that you can buy a few pairs for the usual price of one pair. Granted some of the shoes are a season or so behind, but who really cares? I totally find a pair I like and can wear for long periods of time and I will wear them, until they fall apart. I think personal style never falls out of taste, especially if you're confident and comfortable. Anyhow, last weekend the Hubs and I were out and about doing our usual weekend routine of errands and house stuff when we stopped at Paseo Co for a little lunch. After lunch we decided to walk around a little bit. I remembered that DSW had a location at the Paseo but had somehow let it slip my mind prior to that moment. Maybe I conveniently forgot? We walked in and immediately started finding tons of shoes. Initially I thought I'd pick up a pair of flat sandals for an upcoming trip, but once inside I heard the call from a pair of orange wedges, and a pair of sweet western style cognac colored suede ankle boots and a pair of nude flat sandals. I was expecting my Hubs to want to flee the building as soon as I had decided on my pairs, but he wanted to walk around and try on a few pairs too. I was shocked, my husband who despises shopping wanted to look at shoes!!!! Combined we bought seven pairs, in addition to the pairs I mentioned above I also found a pair of dark brown knee high leather equestrian style boots. Which were tucked away in the very back of the store on a clearance rack, marked at an additional 50% off, double win! My hubs bought three pairs of dress shoes, a sweet pair of Italian handmade brown leather lace ups, a pair of black leather dress boots, and a kick ass pair of dark brown suede lace up dress shoes. All And all we spent about half of what we would have paid if we had gone to the mall. Don't get me wrong, we still managed to spend about five hundred bucks, but IMHO it was totally worth it. My only problem is where to put the new shoes, because now I definitely can't steal any space from my Hubs' closet! read more
