I went to DSW because I got a birthday coupon for $5.00 off any purchase. I'm a sucker for a deal. I specifically came looking for shoe laces. After not finding them the first time, I asked an employee for help. I had to ask two people for help before I found them. I was disappointed at the selection available. I was able to get three pairs of shoe laces for about $7.00. I almost feel forced to recommend them because they are one of the only physical shoe stores around, and I like trying on shoes before I buy them. It's DSW, so obviously the selection is massive! It can be quite overwhelming if you don't know what you're looking for, so it was a good think I had a game plan before arriving. I was in search of a "dressy, stylish, yet comfortable" walking shoe that would match all my outfits for a summer trip. As usual, DWS delivered! The staff here is super nice and helpful, they didn't have my size on the floor and they were able to locate it in the back room. When I went to checkout and told them my hesitancy about buying shoes in Illinois when I was from NY, they were immediately understanding and called the NYC store and helped secure a pair of shoes back home for me! I'm an elite VIP for dsw. Was quite disappointed today. I bought two pairs of sandals on line. One was defective. I went to dsw in Schaumburg. They said I couldn't exchange it because it was bought on line. I told her it was not my fault and I was not asking for refund. So I had to return them but she wouldn't let me exchange. I was disappointed. I buy shoes all the time from DSW I don't think that was right I could not exchange a defective pair. Makes me think twice to buy them from DSW ( woodfield location in Schaumburg). Plus I had coupons and deals on it so I lost all that. She says I would have to return which was $35 ( I paid ) and buy another pair .. that was $59. Now why would I do that. So k ended up returning both pairs. read more

I'm so mad at DSW! Why did you guys send me a "$20 off $49 and up" coupon to my house when I knew I didn't need shoes at all? Certainly the DSW coupon strategies worked because I was at one of their locations outside the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg. Honestly, I can find a million of cute things at most of the DSW locations, yet I need to have self-control and spend my money on the necessities. I guess I can use a pair of black boots since mine has worn out and heels have begun to peel off. I was browsing through the clearance section for a bit. I couldn't commit to purchasing anything today, but it didn't mean that I wouldn't at a later time. Spending some of my pay checks annually at DSW is definitely happening, especially when I knew majority of the shoes I owned came from this little devil warehouse. This particular location isn't part of the mall or within the Streets of Woodfield. Well, I'm new to shopping at DSW but have been in a few of their stores over the last month mainly because I needed shoes for an upcoming wedding I'm standing up in. I'm a customer for sure, now. I was a genius who, along with everyone else in Illinois, decided to make my returns to DSW this past Saturday. Walked in with my pair of shoes purchased at another store, and stood in the lovely line for about 20 minutes. Thank God for the chatty ladies behind me line with their entertaining conversation. It's a shoe store. But, it's pretty huge compared to stores you would see in the mall. They carry a wide variety of shoe brands, and, they also carry some other items like purses, bags, and random accessories. Prices are pretty normal, and, they often have sales or deals. Came here with my fiance because she had 20 bucks off a 50 dollar purchase. So, she got a new pair of shoes for about 30 bucks. They even had a promotion for a free beach blanket, while supplies last! Nice timing, we are going to the Bahamas soon, so, we will be sure to bring the beach blanket! Sadly, they no longer make Moab Rovers. :( Luckily, I do still have one pair brand new in box in my closet. If I can find any more before they all are sold out everywhere, I will buy them up! Great shoes! Anyways, back to the point. I tried on the Merrel Jungle Mocs. Another popular shoe from Merrell that is of similar style to the Moab Rovers. I tried them on, same 9.5 size that I usually wear. They seemed ok in the store; however, when I wore them for 10 minutes in the house later that night, I discovered they let my heel slip a bit. I went back to see if they had a 9. I've never worn a 9, and figured they would be too small, but, figured I'd try them on and see. Sadly, they didn't have any 9's available. So, I returned my 9.5's. Easy process, no questions asked. Staff is very friendly. Some staff is walking around the isles, helping people. They aren't over bearing, but, did come up and ask if I needed any help or suggestions. Very friendly and helpful people. Checkout counter employees were also very pleasant to deal with. Men dont get it, so this review is for the women. I love this location. They are loaded with shoes, purses, socks, hats. I am never disappointed here. They have a great variety of boots, sandals, pumps and running shoes. They even have Brooks which are a runners dream. Dont forget to visit the salea racks in the back. They have amazing shoes for half the price. The reason I took off a star is because this place can be a bit too crowded due to its location. While i was trying on a pair of shoes, this young lady put on my flats and loved them. As funny as that appeared to be from my perspective, it was also a bit annoying. This is a good DSW location in that it's not located right in the mall but on the outskirts of the mall parking lot. This allows for more parking and it being a little less busy then venturing into the mall. Workers are always helpful and nice here. You can find great shoe bargains! I'm giving this three stars but this is mostly due to the fact that I suck at life when it comes to shoe shopping. I'm at an age when certain shoes and heel heights are no longer acceptable, and in an effort to try and save money I like to be able to wear my shoes at work and at play. On the plus side DSW has a ton of shoes, and there is admittedly something for everyone (except me). I have an uncanny ability to only like shoes that cost north of $300. My husband LOVES that :) I don't know how often they bring in new merchandise because I don't go in there often enough. The store is really neat and tidy considering there are hordes of women in there trying on shoes. Shoes are arranged by style, and it is relatively painless to find the type of shoe you need. Hey are arranged by size and are organized. 30% 40% 50% or 60% off the price on the sticker. I have a big love affair with shoes so walking into a warehouse sized store with nothing but shoes is a dream come true. Just yesterday I bought a new pair of boots. The place is laid out great. The staff keeps everything organized and in it's place They have everything from boots to sling backs to slippers. Even without the sale racks the prices are so very reasonable. I like going here. I went here and purchased new vans shoes. They stated it was $5 off compared to original price. I had then gone to the mall where they do have a vans store. My shoes were about $5-$10 cheaper than the store. For those who think they are lying about their prices they are not. DSW is the real thing. Their selection is a little low on brands. Like if you want to search for a specific shoe brand they will have around 1-5 different pairs of them on display. So selection wise a little low. They do have a huge store of different style shoes. It's my kryptonite. ALL the shoes I have lusted after from the pages of Vogue, Cosmo, Elle----they are here, and organized, and neatly stacked for my retail pleasure. My method to success here is this: Walk in, and head straight to the back wall. Find your size area and see if you can uncover some outstanding bargain. That my friends, is the clearance area, and it is good. The rest of the store is organized by style, and then by color. I really appreciate the staff they have constantly walking the floor making sure the aisles are clear--and they always offer help. The reason this is not a 5-star experience: The register area!!!!! This is like the original DSW (at least in this area)... This is one of the larger ones. Very big. Nice long aisles. They've usually got fairly good stock, and you have to hit-up the clearance racks in back!! They've got little seats, footies if you don't have socks on, and there's usually employees walking around in case you need something. I think this is a great store! It's usually hit or miss with me though: there's days where I end up wanting like 7 pairs of shoes, and days when I can't find even one. The Schaumburg DSW is the best of the suburban Chicago DSWs. While the store in size might not be as expansive as Geneva or Oak Brook, the selection, in terms of volume and variety, is superior. Needed a simple pair of non-sneaker walking shoes. Had been to Clarks, The Walking Store, Macy's etc. DSW has an amazing selection from Bernie Mev to Naturalizers. I started in clearance just to see....found about 8 potentials. Then went to the new merchandise. At that point a sales gal offered to help! She was obviously new because everything I asked her she had to find out...but she did and was so nice and helpful. Her attitude was happy retail! That is priceless! I ended up with 2 pairs of new styles, 3 clearance for $260! That was awesome. read more

Disorganized and disappointing. Very little in the men's department. I was excited to find the exact kind of sandals I needed to replace my old ones, which were completely shot and blistering my feet, on clearance. The problem was, they are so disorganized that there was a price tag on the shoes and the shoes were in a box that didn't belong to the shoes. The salesclerk checked the shoes but rang up the box price, which was higher than the price that was marked on the shoes. I was so desperate to get the dilapidated old sandals off my feet that I removed the price tag from the sandals and put it on the box and put on the new sandals when I got to my car. When I balanced my checkbook that night I caught the error on the receipt but it was too late to do anything about it. I prefer the one in Hoffman Estates; it's far better organized and items are in their appropriate box. read more
