There are just so many amazing things to say about this establishment. Carl, who had done all my haircuts in the last 4 months, is always friendly and always over up advice and suggestions. Very personable and professional. The shop is always clean and you are always greeted with a friendly hello. They even offer you a drink while you wait for your appointment. DSZ was recommended to me by a buddy of mine who owns a business in Nyack. I had recently had a not so great experience with my previous barber and was looking to switch things up. I made an appointment with Flori and since that first haircut, I've been coming to see Flori every 3 weeks for the last two years. I can honestly say that he gives the best haircut and beard trim I've ever had. He's extremely consistent. Delivers a quality haircut and experience every single time. I decided to give this shop a try because it was closer to my home, had amazing reviews and allowed me not to travel all the way to Nanuet, but I feel like I did not receive the cut I wanted, hence I'm posting this. I forgot the name of the barber, but I feel he did not listen to me at all when I said how I wanted to style my hair. As a female, having a short cut it a bold move but having it done well makes you feel sexier. I feel like he just got clipper happy and took off a lot more hair than I asked even though I did make it clear that I didn't want too much off my length, just a trim down. At some point, when I put back on my glasses to see how he was cutting it, I said that it was too low, but he said he was going to continue to fade it, so I said nothing else. Then I realized he kept cutting towards an area I told him not to, and when I told him it was too low, he took out his razor as if he was going to cut off more! I had to actually move my head and make it clear that I did NOT want him to cut off more because he already cut off too much! So that showed me that he definitely was not listening! I was so annoyed I didn't tip him. And I never EVER do that. I'll even give $2 if I have it, but I was not satisfied with my haircut at all. I think I would have rather driven my 15 minute drive to Nanuet than to go around the corner to this shop. I do not know if there is a refund policy, but for the prices they charge, I would like at least a partial amount back because I definitely pay less at my other shop and they actually listen to my requests. read more

This barbershop hands down is the best place in Rockland. You call and set up an appointment and that's it. There is no waiting once you get there. I personally go to Flori who is the absolute best. He is extremely personable. It's tough to find a barber who knows how to use the scissors and the buzzer and Flori can do both. From skin fades to fohawks he never disappoints and has always given me great haircuts. He will always keep you laughing with his jokes and makes getting a haircut fun. I have been a repeat customer for the last three years and they do not disappoint. You can read reviews that if you pay close attention, looks like the writers got a free cut for the review. My review is genuine and I would have called it out if it wasn't worth it. I enjoy the cleanliness, atmosphere and no rush attention to detail Alan provides. Some barbers just pretend to listen and cut hair they way they want. He offered his a opinion, style options and I have to say the end result is straight fire. Steves place is excellent. It's my favorite barbershop back in NY. If you're in Rockland and want to be at a very nice old school style barbershop then this is your place! Steve and his team are great and make you feel comfortable. Conversations flow freely which is a big plus in my book! Location is easy at is on the corner of a major intersection in Nyack. Parking is abundant on the street or in one of the lots. Prices are really good and they take cash or credit. The cuts and shaves are excellent and they take their time to do a great job. You can sit around and have a libation while you wait or read a magazine, or you can book ahead of time and not worry about waiting. I'm a queer lady rocking a more butch style and at least for me going to a new barber can be a little anxiety provoking. So happy I stopped in. It's modeled like a traditional barber shop, with nice dark wood throughout. I would call it hipster sheik. They offer you coffee or beer while you're waiting. You can also get a hot shave (which I obviously didn't need, but the option is there). Sam Jacob gave me a fantastic cut and style. He paid attention to every detail, especially the back. Typically I just get a haircut, but if I have extra time, I'll get a hot towel shave, which is a real treat. Coming back home from college was hard finding the right barber. I went through 3 barbers, until I found DSZ Barbers. Being a female with a men's haircut made it extra hard. I've also gotten cuts from salons but they would charge me for a female haircut even though I had a men's haircut. I take pride in my hair and so does DSZ Barbers. I love their vintage old school look to the shop and they definitely add that to the way they cut. Carl cut my hair and he was fantastic. Of all the places I've been to in the Hudson Valley, DSZ Barbers Inc. has got to be the most impressive place I've ever been. I knew I found a gem upon my first sight of the shop. Walking around Nyack a couple months back, I noticed DSZ & decided to take a step in to check out this classic, old-time NYC style shop. This place is finished with beautiful wood flooring & old fashioned leather fitted barber's chairs. This place just screams classic. The kind of place Elvis would have gone to. Have you ever been to a barbershop that plays classic rock in the background & offers you an espresso right when you walk in the door? If you haven't, you're selling yourself short.
