I began taking by Hyundai Santa Fe to Woody Smith for servicing in 2022. The first couple of…read moreexperiences were great! They made it so easy with online scheduling and the service and customer service were great. The service manager was very personable and helpful and went above and beyond, even having my car vacuumed out when I got my oil changed. Then, probably around a year later everything started going downhill. I made an appointment online like I had before, but when I showed up for my appointment, they had no record of it and couldn't get me in. I understand that things happen, so I didn't think much of it. When I did end up getting in for the oil change, the experience just wasn't as good, although I couldn't tell you exactly why.
Then, I needed new tires. They said they could sell me new tires rather than me having to go to a tire store, and since I had trusted them in the past, I took their recommendation on tires, although I hadn't ever heard of the brands they recommended. The tread on the tires has worn out quicker than on any other tires I have ever purchased and now I need new tires again.
I haven't had even a remotely good experience since then and haven't taken my car back there in the last year because my last experience was so bad. I took my car in for an oil change. I left it there and was planning on picking it up at the end of the day. I got a call in the afternoon asking me if I had been having issues with the closing mechanism on my driver's side door. I responded that no, I had not had any issues with that door. He asked me the same thing in different ways at least 3 separate times and I assured him that no, my door had never had issues with closing. Apparently, the mechanism was broken, and they couldn't get the door to even latch. They asked for my permission to take the door panel off to see what was wrong, which I gave them. They called me back saying that there was a broken part inside the door, and they would need to replace it and did I want them to do that. I said yes, and they told me they needed to order the part, and they hoped to have it the next day. I had to call them to check on my car and the part and they were not at all helpful or communicative. When I went to pick up my car, it was $200 more than I was expecting to pay for the oil change. I questioned them and they said that was the cost for the door part and they did the labor for free, basically out of the kindness of their hearts. I wasn't thrilled as I hadn't budgeted for that extra expense and let them know that, but he said it wasn't their fault and I had to be wrong about my car door not closing properly before. I didn't argue with him and just paid it. A couple of weeks later I noticed that that door was making a scraping sound when I opened or closed it slowly. When I opened or closed it quickly you couldn't tell, which is why it took me a couple of weeks to notice it. I called Woody Smith and told them about the metal-on-metal scraping on the latching mechanism they had worked on. It was as if the door was hung so the alignment of the door was slightly off. It was the same guy who called me initially to ask about my door not closing. He was extremely rude, treating me like I was an idiot and told me that nothing they did would have caused that so it had to be something I had done. He then told me it sounded like the door had been ripped open in a windstorm. I assured him that nothing like that had happened since I had owned the car, let alone since they had worked on that door. He insisted that it wasn't their fault, and they wouldn't do anything about it. I asked him to speak to a manager and he said that he was the manager. I asked him if he had a supervisor and he said yes, but he wasn't in. I asked for a return call from that supervisor but never got one. That door is still messed up. It leaks water and the wind noise on the freeway it terrible because it no longer seals properly. I never had those issues prior to them "fixing" that door. I haven't taken my car back there since, but I am frustrated that I took my car in for a simple oil change and now I have multiple problems with my door that didn't exist prior to them working on it.
I don't know what happened between the first couple of times I took my car there and the last couple of times because the service was night and day different. I won't go back as long as that rude man, who clearly wants to push the blame off them onto anyone or anything besides them, still works there. I wish I knew his name so I knew who to steer clear of but I'm sure I would still recognize his voice. I don't typically write reviews, and I wasn't going to, but I wanted to save someone else trouble of going here. Find somewhere else that employs more reputable people.
