A BIG Shout-out to TJ and Decorating the Public for the spectacular job they did on our pool and deck in Austin TX! If I could give more than 5 stars I certainly would! We didn't want a "Me Too" spray-on cool-deck with plastic dec-o-drains like everyone else. We wanted something really special and finally decided on a Turkish Travertine deck. We quickly found out there is very little travertine expertise in the Austin area. We feel very lucky that we were able to find TJ because as you can see in the pictures he is a true artist! He did all of everything you see except the pool shell and pump equipment. He did all the base-work, concrete, coping and laid over 1000ft of "Autumn" travertine stone in a Versailles pattern. He also engineered the awesome drain systems in the concrete to work with the slotted travertine drain tiles. No plastic deck-o drains here! We couldn't be more happy with the results. We get raving compliments from all our friends and everyone that sees it. The guy with the pool company that came to turn-up the pool and give us pool school said "I absolutely love your deck! I turn up over 300 pools a year and this is my hands down favorite!" Now that's quite a compliment TJ! TJ was a really great guy to work with on this project. He takes great pride in his workmanship and doesn't cut corners. His prices are very reasonable and we are so happy with everything he did for us. Recently had my mailbox obliterated by someone, it was a hit and run and needed to get it replaced quickly and decided to have it done using limestone for a more solid structure. My wife dealt with these folks as I was out of town, so I never had any interactions with them. The price was a little higher than I expected since they were using my materials, but I wanted it done quickly and they got it done! The workmanship was ok, I would've liked it done slightly different, but I wasn't around to voice this, so who am I to complain? My wife was very pleased, so I guess I need to be! read more

We had a great experience working with TJ and his crew. We hired them to do a full remodel of our driveway, sideyard and backyard which included: * Demolishing our asphalt driveway and old concrete in our backyard * Creating a sidewalk, a staircase and a new driveway in our front yard * Pushing back and rebuilding a retaining wall * Placing fresh concrete on the side and back of the house, with drainage holes There are many things we liked about them compared to the other contractors we contacted: 1. TJ did not try to upsell me on anything. In fact, when we told him that we are very price conscious, he responded by showing me which portions of the project were more expensive, and advised me on how to bring the overall cost down while maintaining my original vision. 2. Their quote was itemized and highly detailed. We knew exactly how much they were charging for each aspect of the project. 3. There price was very competitive - significantly lower than the other offers we got! 4. The crew worked both really hard and fast, completing this extensive project in only 7 days! For comparison, another company estimated the work to last 3 weeks. 5. They were extremely accommodating with last minute clarifications and changes. We are very happy with the results! They did a beautiful job, and we love spending time in our new yard! Our yard is now a safe and spacious place for our daughter to run around. So many people walking/driving by stop to look at our new driveway and our all of our neighbors have complimented us on how great our yard looks! TJ and his crew are outstanding. If you are old like me 55yrs old don't judge this kid for his youth and a few tatoos. TJ was not the cheapest but he was prompt and fair with his estimate. TJ communicated everything clearly, and arrived every day exactly when he said he would. They cleaned up thoroughly each day, and worked full days. The work TJ and his crew did exceeded my expectation. TJ takes pride in his work, and company. He appears to be a perfectionist. Many good reviews for this company but I cannot add to it unfortunately. I called them 4 times within 4 days and not even one call back, message or text. Maybe they are too busy. Response time obviously is not good and because of this I would say poor customer service as well. Too bad. read more

We had hired a cement guy who did a horrific job on our front walk up stairway. We were referred to Decorating the Public by a family member. When TJ showed up, he evaluated the mess left by the previous contracter and promised that he and his crew would work their magic and re-do the stairs. He is definitely a man of his word as he and his crew did a phenomenal job in tearing out the old and creating a beautiful cement walkway! We couldn't have been more pleased with the results! I contracted this guy and he came out started digging for the forms with shovels for a 10x20 dual level pad with shovels he then figured out that it was going to be too much work and he got a skip loader. He did the forms and laid the rebar on 2x' centers. I am installing a hot tub and he knew this fro my the start so I asked him about when he was having the inspection and he then informed me that he had quoted the job without a permit. In other words he was going to try and give me a head ache for the future. Once the city informed him of exactly what he had to do to accomplish this project, he then came back to me asking for more money and refusing to finish the project until I agreed to pay his more expensive quote. Even though he had given me and forced me to sign his initial quote. I finally had enough of this bozo and I hired someone else even though it cost me more. Save yourself a headache don't hire this person. If you knew your business you would have known you needed a permit and that the city you were working in required a footing on the pad to support the hot tub. You tried to force me to pay for your ignorance. Nothing changed from the beginning other than the city told you your job. read more
