They offered a narrated lake tour for $28, highlighting the ecosystem. When we realized all proceeds went to help kids' community projects, we climbed aboard for an hour cruise. So relaxing! They also have longer cruises from other locations to see ospreys, and other day and night cruises.

I hiked in winter with my guy on some snow packed trails and found it still easy to navigate without much fear. The trails are very well marked so no worries about losing your way. They have cross country skiing trails which were nice and many small groups/families were enjoying. I would think you could bring your snowshoes too if you wanted to traverse trails that way, but boots worked fine too. There are compost style restrooms outside/inside the center where you can pick up guide map or equipment. That edges an open private lot visible seen from the roadway. Great location to have some go clean fun all year round I'm sure and would highly recommend to all ages.

Unfortunately, due to COVID their nature center and bathrooms are currently closed but the trails are open from sunrise to sunset. The trails let you explore multiple different places including open field, meadows, old woods, hill sides, swamps/marshes, and more! The leaves and animals here were fantastic as well and it was a lovely place to relax and enjoy the serenity of nature. Highly recommended place to visit and enjoy a beautiful day!

Duck Inn right next door was similar priced and it's a three bedroom and three bath. Regina's cottage is two small bedrooms and one small bathroom. The second bedroom does not have a closet. The stackable washer dryer is in an alcove in the closet and when we used it it walked into the room. We called to have maintenance move it back but it was too late in the day so we got on the floor and we pushed it partially back with our feet. The master bedroom bed was not too comfortable with a foam pad. The kitchen lacks a dishwasher and the kitchen sink lacks real hot water and water pressure. Funny since both are fine in the bathroom. The dock is in horrible shape while Duck inn next door had a beautiful dock. There is a fire pit and chairs by the lake and we did light a fire one night. The kitchen pots and pans could be better and a salad spinner would be a nice addition too.

They brought out toys for them which kept them happy and busy playing! They had a booster seat for little Jacob and gave the the most adorable breakfast - including fruit cup up in the shape of a dolphin and strawberry fish with chocolate chips. They also told me there is more than 1 airline that has a direct flight from upstate NY into Raleigh/Durham airport when in fact there is only 1. Had this agency been willing to answer my questions so that I would know what my options were and if they were polite to me I would have considered using them to book my flight. I'm not sure how this agency is still in business when they are so rude and unhelpful when a potential client has questions.

Tammy, the Owner, did the purchase for me. She had all my information, including the fact that my son and I have two different last names. When I got to Newark Airport I was informed by the airline that they would not allow us to leave the country -- that it has been Ireland's travel policy for a long time to not allow an adult and child/children traveling under different last names to enter the country. I was horrified obviously and when I reached out to Tammy I was told very simply that it was not her fault and that she "cannot be expected to know the travel regulations for each country". She actually stated that because I travel a lot I should have known....clearly I disagree. Her email is as follows: "Lisa, yes I help clients purchase many aspects of travel for great prices. I help clients plan and coordinate their trips. I purchase airline tickets with the legal names that my clients give to me. It is not up to me though, to research every destination to tell clients the rules and laws of the country, much less the rules contained within divorce/custody court documents. This is up to the traveler to research and understand their own travel. I advise of passport and visa requirements. There are many things that can stop a traveler from boarding a plane from criminal records to incorrect names. There are many rules of travel that I could not possibly tell each and every client. You have traveled fairly extensively, I would believe that in your divorce/custody court documents, if that is the case, that you would have known what was required for your son to travel with you. I do not know everyone's individual situation.". While she refers to a divorce/custody situation in her email this situation had nothing to do with this -- the simple fact was that my son and I have different last names. I read an article that 500,000 women last year had this problem when traveling in 2017. Tammy should have been aware of this and advised me accordingly. Previously I purchased a cruise package from Tammy. Unfortunately I bought the Dublin tickets before the cruise trip. Had the cruise taken place I would never have used her for the Dublin tickets. Although we purchased the cruise about 6 months before it was to embark, about 1 week prior to the trip Tammy informed me that the "balcony" room I booked and paid for was no longer available. I was incredulous. We were forced to take a room with a window only. Tammy also did not make us aware of the hundreds (and I do mean hundreds) of dollars in extra and unavoidable charges made by the cruise line including gratuities that were nearly $100 per day. Use Ithaca Travel Sun's services with caution.

The museum only tells a fraction of the area's rich history but still contains enough artifacts to spark plenty of discussion. The independent audio tour -- via tablet -- is a great feature. On the other hand, it still feels strange to focus so intensely on the white deer population. The tourist-y sheen is somewhat off-putting if you're from the area; you'll see what I mean if you browse the gift shop. That being said, I hope the park continues to maintain and protect the site. It's a vital part of local and national history.

We started our visit with walking tour of the houses with Sean who we could tell absolutely loves his job. He spoke so passionately about everything and was super knowledgeable. We then had a lovely happy hour chat with our inn keeper Anna before a fabulous dinner at 1833 Kitchen & Bar. We had a slight issue with the heating system in our room which was quickly taken care of AND Bill took the time to explain the whole system to my fiancé so we can incorporate thing we like and do not like into our home we're currently building!!! The next morning I had a lovely yoga practice while my fiancé slept in and then we enjoyed the scrumptious granola bars, Ithaca yogurt, juices and coffee! We then had a lovely walk about town and Wells College before lunch at 1833 Kitchen & Bar and then back to the Schoolhouse and Basecamp for a History of the Finger lakes with Mike! We then headed back to the inn for a little Happy Hour chat with Anna again before an amazing experience with Grace at Aurora Cooks. Our dinner demonstration with Grace was phenomenal!!! We learned a lot and she gave us some great tips on the appliance and cookware for our new home. Another breakfast with Anna before heading home this morning! So much fun and relaxation!!! Maddie was a great Innkeeper and the house was immaculate. The house is right on the lake and even though it was chilly, we enjoyed sitting by the water, sipping wine and watched the sunset. I completely regret not putting sleep aside when we arrived home from our dinner at the Aurora Inn restaurant to sit by the fire and make s'mores:( Next time for sure! On day one, we had an amazing experience at AuroraCooks! with Grace as she led a unique Butter Tasting! We drank sparkling wine and tried butters from around the world. The butter was great and the instructor, Grace was fantastic! I would definitely sign up for another event again at AuroraCooks! We also enjoyed a historical tour of Aurora by Dale. The information was amazing and we could have stayed on the tour for another hour. Dale is super knowledgable and entertaining. Do yourself a favor and visit the school house to learn more about the activities that you can participate in when you stay. We also had a couple's massage which my husband and I both agreed were the best we had ever had! I will add a review for 1833 Kitchen & Bar on their Yelp page, but ask for Ben as your server and he will take amazing care of you! We will be returning to the Inns of Aurora!
