The door is locked when you arrive and there is a doorbell. They answered right away and politely asked why we were there. I told them I had some gold coins to sell and they immediately sat me down and asked to see them. Not wanting to show everything, I gave them one of the coins to see how they valued it. (I did my research before going.) Their offer was on the low end of the range, but acceptable. Since it was a little low, I decided to sell the one and to hold onto the others for now. The transaction was fast, and within ten minutes I showed them the coin, they valued it, and I had a check in hand. Fast, reasonable, and nice people working there. I was there during a sidewalk sale, and they had $2 costume jewelry out front; a seasonal red/white/blue display, and vintage purses / hats in addition to jewelry. Jewelry is arranged by type; there's a large selection of pearls; dozens of cameos; and, when I was there, a large display of Bakelite and other vintage plastic bangles (with a magazine article on how not all vintage plastic jewelry is Bakelite). Some southwest/turquoise; a bunch of diamonds; lots of colored stones; and even some enamel pieces. If you don't see what you're looking for, ask; I wanted to see amber and they brought out a bunch, and they also had additional mourning jewelry in the back. The people serving me were very helpful, finding bracelets in my size, helping with tricky catches, etc. and they knew their stuff (what era jewelry was from; no, we don't have jet but we have bog oak...). Several customers were obviously regulars; one approached me out of nowhere to tell me how good the staff were to deal with. Prices are very reasonable; I was very pleased with the vast selection, spent less on a couple of pieces than I expected, and went home with some treasures. This is on the main street right next to the Catlow theater; there is street parking and 1 hour and 3 hour unmetered parking a block away at the Jewel.

The store is a bit of a time warp, but you kinda have to love that. I'm not a coin expert, but I needed to sell some silver coins my dad had for MANY decades and after doing a good amount of research I called Arlington Coin who said over the phone they were buying then offered what I'm confident was a very fair price after reviewing the coins. Piccard has a small selection, but they all appear to be good pieces. These days, I understand why a jeweler wouldn't want to have a lot of stock - robberies or the cost of goods being high, it really doesn't make sense to have much in stock. But, they do have a lot of catalogs you can review, and he will order anything you want. More so, I trust them. When we went to sell our gold coins, they were US Coins, proof. They said he would buy them by weight, but we would probably get more from a coin dealer. They could have just given us the money and marked up the coins, but they didn't. That earned my trust and my business.
