My father is in the car service industry so I enjoy supporting small businesses. I decided to call and make an appointment for 9am on a Friday morning to get a 90k service. I showed up about 2 minutes before 9 and saw someone leaving the shop. I walked into the office to drop my car off and the person at the counter informed me that the guy checking me in would be back in a few minutes as he went out for coffee. I waited 5 minutes and then began looking for somewhere else to get my car serviced. By the time the guy I saw leaving the shop returned (10 min later) I was out my way to another place to get my car serviced. It's really frustrating when people waste my time, especially after I called to set up an appointment and was on time.

Was very specific and clear when scheduling my service, asked several clarifying questions and was assured my car service (oil change) wouldn't take more than 2 hours. At drop off, Service advisor promised to text updates and treat car as if I was waiting in the lobby. Called at the 2 hour mark because there had been no follow up as promised. I was told my appointment time wasn't the actual car service appointment time (what?) and that other customers were ahead of me in line and it would be another couple hours. So had I waited, I would be in there lobby for 4 plus hours?!?! Terrible customer service and communication.

i don't know if these guys are scam artists or just crappy mechanics. i've been bringing my car…read morethere for 2 years. i think they had a change of ownership because the main guy i had been dealing with disappeared about a year ago. things have been downhill since then. for the sake of brevity i will just describe the most recent of my travails there. brought my car in a month ago because the check engine light was on. they said it was the egr valve and i had it replaced. $350. month later, light goes back on and my brakes start acting up. they say the light is on because someone forgot to put in the gasket w/the egr valve and it was all coated in carbon. as far as the brakes, they said i needed to replace: rear brakes (all hardware) and rear wheel cylinder-$483, and front tie rod and axle-$475. not including tax. i refused the repairs (my car is worth less than it would've cost to fix it) they said they would have to order the gasket and could i call them in a few days. ummm...how bout YOU call ME in a few days since you didnt do the job right in the first place?! so they did. brought it in and the supposedly put it in. in the meantime , i go get a second opinion. thank gawd!!! Tony from Tony's greenwood auto (that godsend), did everything they were gonna do (rear brakes, wheel cylinders, tie rod) plus thermostat and a tune up for a total of $475 (including tax, labor, etc). the same price emerald city auto was gonna charge to do JUST the tie rod!!!!!! my check engine light was back on 2 days after the emerald city guys put in the egr valve gasket. tony took a look and said they actually made the gasket rather than ordering it. and he was dumbfounded that they didnt put it in in the first place since it comes IN the box with the egr valve. if you want your car to be repaired correctly for an honest price, DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!

We had issues with out Chevy Avalanche over the past year where the truck would randomly power down…read moreand go in to an energy saving mode - which is quite scary driving the truck at high speeds on a highway then randomly it shifts down much slower. After doing a lot of research online about the issue and getting a diagnostics test at Midas, we were referred to come to Mathewson's for the electric work. As it turned out, we needed the throttle body replaced. The guys at Mathewson were very knowledgeable about a recall for the throttle body switch, in turn we needed to replace the entire throttle body which is a up to date part. Anyhow, yes a more expensive part but it has fixed the electrical problem. We have not had any issues since. They were easy to get an appointment with our work schedule and in a timely manner where we did not need to leave our vehicle over night. The only issue was a little mis-communication when we went to pay the bill. We were quoted one amount and then were charged for an oil change we never asked to have. The guys were super nice about the mishap and offered to take it off of the charged amount on our credit card, or give us a free oil change later. They happily took the amount off of the charge for the oil change. We definitely plan on getting future oil changes with them for one, it was a better price then Jiffy Lube and two, they seem trustworthy and knowledgeable. After our visit back in May, I believe Mathewson's definitely gets 5 stars for the service done on our vehicle. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants honest and reliable work done.

Kirmac seems to be maybe a franchise, as I have seen one in Kent and another in Auburn…read more I came here per my insurances recommendation because of an accident I was in. Matt helped me out in the first two inital greetings and then Larry (the owner), basically followed up with all the cost estimating and appointment setting. I'm not a huge fan of dealing with mechanics shops and hadn't really had the experience of dealing with a body shop before, so I had the same feelings at first that I do of mechanics placese. I was told by my insurance that this place was handling both the body damage and a mechanical diagnostic. Before I picked up the car, I called in to inquire about the status and Larry informed me the work was done and that they had taken it around the block and "listened" for anything unusual. After some conversation, it was made clear that they do not actually have a certified mechanic on staff and I was uneasy to the tune of the "diagnostic" done as Larry had stated "well, we didn't know what it sounded like before you brought it in of course but nothing sounds out of the ordinary". This is an issue I took back to my insurance, who in turn decided to let me take it to the dealership for the diagnostic. NOW. The good news! The body work was increidible and the work is guaranteed by the shop for life. Not to mention, after I picked up my car from the dealership they told me the car was fine and also stated that whoever did the body work on the front end did a really stellar job. When I told them it had been Kirmac they said, oh yea that's a great shop! We tell our customers to go there all the time. So, while there was some initial confusion about the dx portion of the services rendered I do have to give a shout out to Kirmac in Burien and a BIGGER shout out to Larry. You guys handled my repairs really well, were very patient with my waivering on the final results and I especially appriciated the little card and hand made basket of chocolate that you left on my dash board. You guys rock! This shop is excellent.

I did notice an issue on my car door after I picked up my car, called them up, took it in the next day and it's as good as new. I would go back to them. My only issue is that their communication isn't the greatest. I never received any phone calls about the work being done even though I left them several numbers to reach me at. I did receive emails though. Unlike the previous reviewer, I did not find a hand written note or chocolates in my car when I picked it up.

Any way I had the car appx. 2 years the first time I ran into the back of a Semi, no damage to the truck called my insurance company, they told me where to go and I did, when I picked up the car, the color was off, so I took it back there, they said no problem, went to pick it up the second time, and it was still half red. So then I found Automotive images, I took my car there, Brandon the gentleman that runs the establishment agreed to meet me and the insurance adjuster at his location. When the adjuster came in we all went out and looked at the car, everyone agreed it was red, so he repainted and it came out beautiful. Recently I was in an accident the car rear ended me causing me to slide into the car in front of me, I had just dropped my full coverage since it is it not worth that much. But it still looks good, so I had to take it to one of my ins. repair places, they took some pictures and sent me off with a check in hand for around $1200.00. But I took the car back to Images and left it, Brandon called with an estimate of over $2000.00. I went there and he showed me what needed to be done I had bent some parts of the undercarriage (I guess the adjuster didn't look under the car) I told him to fix it and if the insurance co. declined to pay I would pay the balance. The Ins. PAID. I have gone there twice since then, my fault, pulling out of a parking space hooked my front end on the tire with hug lug nuts, took the car to him and he went in his shop brought out tools and fixed it on the spot, at no charge, same thing not sure who did it, but the paint was rubbed against either a pole or another car, took it to him and he buffed it out again for no charge. This place is the best in customer service, keeping you informed, and well just good ol folks, that care about your vehicle as much as you do!!!!!
