I took it back and asked questions and all i got in a response was "I dont know why it do that" then tells me to take to dealership to fix! I thought this place could be my "friendly neighborhood" auto shop since it's down the street from where I live. But it's not it. I dropped off my car there when they open in the morning, so I'm expecting that they would call me to let me know the progress of my vehicle. I was promised that my vehicle would be done at a certain time, the same day and that's where they fell short. It took them a day and a half to fix my car. I wished they would have communicated this to me earlier instead of leaving me scrambling to look for a ride to work the next day. There was a reason why I left my car there first thing in the morning, because I'm expecting to have the work done the same day. I get it if I came later in the day, and they didn't have the manpower. So overall, the inconvenience and communication is not worth the trouble. read more

we took our car to vans auto repair for an alternator replacement and got it back with a broken motor mount . when I told him about it he denied his mechanic broke it . I suspect he broke it prying the alternator to tighten the belt . read more

Been bringing my cars here for years. Brought a Honda Civic and also a Nissan Sentra with blown engines to Vans a few years ago on difference occasions. And each time they did a very great job swapping the engines out. They were able to order all the parts and engine needed. They are very great to work with and brought in multiple cars here from having them install full exhaust to random tune ups. They're great at what they do and are very professional! read more

Had been using Van's for work I needed on my '91 Toyota Pickup over the past few years. Called them yesterday to arrange a time to have new rear shock absorbers installed. (They've been in their original box in the cab of the truck for quite some time.) Was informed that Van will not install customer-supplied parts. So my days of doing business with them are over. Great service at reasonable prices as long as you buy parts from him apparently. It's up to you if you want to pay full retail prices on parts sourced locally; it's just not my preferred way of maintaining my vehicles. (Way too expensive.) read more

Had a gentleman looking at my car who asked me to bring it to Vans for an inspection. Drove from seattle to meet his request. Asked him about the service and he said it would be on the car buyer. When I got back he said I owed him $75 and he wouldn't tell me what was wrong with the car just said it has lots of problems. Said something about him tell his friend for free but charging me $75 for it. He said that he worked on my car so he needed to be paid. If you're looking for good honest service, this is not where you find it. Maybe because I'm white and he doesn't speak good English he thought he could trick me but anyways my recommendation, don't trust these guys, seems like the kinda place that would say one thing and then do something else. read more

I give a 5 star but would have gave a 5+ if the lobby had coffee....kidding. I had my "check engine" light come on and called the dealer and was told 120 for that to be checked...found out O'Reilly lets you use their diagnostic machine for free. Anyway after I found out I needed, new plugs I called a few places and Vans was the best deal for new plugs. Told it was 201.00 plus tax when I walked to get my truck the bill was........201.00 plus tax. There is nothing I had more than going in and getting a jacked up bill. Long story short......I think I found a place to take my cars. Thanks guys. read more

Worst mechanic I ever used. Took my Audi in for a simple water leak in the hose going to the reservoir. He replaced the the reservoir when it didn't need it and put the old cap on instead of the new one. After getting my car back it started to overheat which it didn't do before he worked on it. I brought the car back. He replaced the water pump timing belt and other hoses. Called me to say the car was done. I went to pick it up and he admitted that it was still overheating and he didn't have a way to pressure check the engine to see where air was getting in. Still charged me for work that didn't need to be done and my engine is totaled. I later found a hose that wasn't reconnected after he worked on it. As far as I'm concerned he owes me my money back or a new engine. Worst mechanic and a scammer. read more

If I could give Van negative stars, I would. He is a dishonest and incompetent mechanic that has no idea of what customer service is. Here is the work he performed on my '08 Subaru Outback in 2015: $ Jan '15 @ 105k: Timing belt & water belt = $875 $ Sep '15 @ 112k: CV axle replacement = $595 $ Sep '15 @ 112k: Two separate diagnostic fees (which did not find the root problem) = $150 ($75/each) In September, my engine started to overheat and smoke up. Van claimed it was the CV axle burning grease and causing smoke. When my car drove really rough after the CV axle job, he told me there was another $350+ in work that needed to be done. And he got upset with me that I didn't do the work with him, so he charged me another $75 diagnostic fee. That's when I threw the BS flag on him. I told him I was not going to pay his silly diagnostic fee and go to another shop. That's when he got angry and told me it didn't matter if he lost my business. What makes me upset about this whole experience isn't just money; it's the fact that he NEVER found the problem. I went to Lioe's Automotive in Beacon Hill and within an hour, they told me that the head gasket had been leaking oil for a long time, and that it had probably been doing so before the timing belt replacement. So not only did Van recommend a lot of repairs that were unnecessary, he had no idea what the f*** was going on with my car. Oh and Lioe's only charges $45 for their diagnostic fees. If you enjoy $75 diagnostic fees, dishonest and incompetent mechanics, and lousy customer service, you should go see Van. Otherwise, save your money and headaches and STAY AWAY. BUYER BEWARE. read more

Vans auto repair is the only repair shop we take our cars to. I know that I can trust Van with his knowledge and experience. Very reliable and reasonable. Our cars are getting older and have issues from time to time, and Van has been able to fix these issues in a timely manner with satisfying results. He recently replaced my transmission and my car is running great. read more
