Glad I did. The two women who run it (I am sure one is the owner) are really nice. I always hesitate when older women do my hair because they are on their own page. But these two seem updated and although at first I'm like "NO too short!" I trusted them on several occasions and was really happy with results. I decided to try the waxing of the eyebrows since I usually thread and clean it up, glad I did also. Probably by far the best waxing and shaping I ever had done on me. And being a guy, I am particular about anyone cleaning up my brows! She mad them clean and not at all how women do theirs. Nice job. Less then $8 for brows and $10 for a haircut, I am happy because I usually pay $15 and $10 for brows elsewhere and ti be able to come here at lunch time and be out in less then 25 minutes is really a good thing.

I have seen all ages and all races in this salon. Many of the clients are long time customers but when I am there I see new clients coming in quite often. She has created an easy laid back environment that is comfortable and professional and not phony or pretentious. They are considerate and appreciative of the customers and offer them tea or other beverages. Each customer is receiving service and I have never seen anyone waiting unnecessarily or complaining about any services. If you are looking for a stylist that can address your everyday hair style needs or you would like a special style for a special occasion Hair Sparkle is an excellent choice not far from Chicago with the same skilled professionals and styles found downtown without paying a fortune for parking. Went in today with my mom and sister for manis and pedis we scheduled earlier in the week for my…read morewedding on Saturday. I had Anna for my manicure. She did a good job shaping and cleaning up my nails, and her station was clean. The mani price was OK ($15). They get two stars because: a) They do not do gel or acrylics nails at all. Granted I did not asked when scheduling with them, but I figured a "salon" would have that option available. b) Their nail color selection was slim. I wanted a bridal, shimmery pink, but all they had were whitish french manicure colors. I ended up just picking one I sorta liked. c) The polish job was just OK. She did a base coat, two polish coats and a top coat without allowing any drying time in between. And she scrapped a small line on one nail and did not fix it. d) My sister opted not to get the mani because she wanted gel nails. After my mom and I were finished, we waited on the couch for the pedis. We thought they were getting the room ready, or waiting for us to dry a little more. After about 20 minutes of waiting and salon personnel smiling at us and walking by, I went to the front desk. After another minute Anna came to see what I needed. I asked when the pedis would start, and she told me sorry, no pedicures were scheduled for us, only manicures. We ended up leaving without pedis for my wedding, and went to a different nail shop. I will not be back Metro Salon.

The lady, who I presume to be the owner, said I would be charged a 3 percent processing fee for using a credit card. She pointed to post-it note signage on the desk that was dated for January 1st, but I hadn't been there since last October, so there's no way I could have known. I politely vocalized my disappointment about this twice, said I wish I had been made aware since I would have brought cash, and she went on to gently say it was only 5 dollars. It seems unfair to not notify customers about this policy before the appointment- they send a reminder text so it wouldn't be difficult. I am not sure if I will be returning on principle.
