It's a Chilly, Snowy Reno Monday morning and Vesta and I are sitting at a warm table in Duds n' Suds. I'm writing this review and Vesta is reading a Dean Koontz horror story while our laundry is being done. We've got coffee. There are other people here. A older man with a beret is sitting on the table behind us. He's reading the Reno Gazette. The couple on the table next to us are playing Mahjong. Everybody here seems to be enjoying themselves. Does this sound like your average trip to your average laundromat? We've lived in Reno for six years now and six weeks ago we moved to a house in Midtown which has no washer and dryer. That was almost a deal breaker for us, because we hate, hate, hate going to laundromats. They're usually dull, boring places and not and fun. But we really liked the house and we really wanted to move from downtown, where we were living in the Riverwalk Towers. So we scouted all the laundromats in the area and lo and behold we found this place. It seemed nice. They got hot dogs and beer and nachos and coffee and tables where you can sit and work or play while you're clothes are swishing around in a washer or dryer. We hung out for about twenty minutes, had a glass of wine, talked to the girl behind the bar. And we decided that maybe going to the laundromat wouldn't be so bad after all. So we moved and we're loving our little house and Midtown and even going to the laundromat to get our clothes cleaned. This is our sixth trip here and everyone of them has been a nice experience. Yes, it costs a little more to get your laundry done here than any of those other places we looked at, but the extraa money is worth it, because of all of the reasons I mentioned above and because the machines are always clean and in working order. Our only negative experience we've had here, and it doesn't affect my five star rating for Duds n' Suds, was when we showed up last night with our laundry. The place was stuffed to the gills with people. It was almost like they were having a party going on and even though this place has more machines than I've every seen in a laundromat, every one of them was being used. The lesson we took away from that as we were driving away was that doing laundry on a Sunday night isn't a good idea. Probably, I think, because a whole lot of people put off doing their weekly laundry till the last minute and it has to be done before they go to work on Monday morning. I never in my wildest dreams ever thought we would actually have a good time doing our laundry. I would't say we look forward to do it, but we don't dread it and so far we've had a pretty good time every time we've been here. read more

I have driven by Duds n' Suds several times since moving to Reno. When I had to wash my comforters (which are too big for my washer & dryer) I came here - even though it wasn't the closest. This is one of the coolest laundromats I have ever been in. Why just sit around and wait for you laundry to finish when you could get something to eat, have a beer, play a round of pool and watch Game Show Network. When I got here I was unsure as to which washers to use and the woman working was very kind and noticed me wondering around and looking lost. She grabbed my two comforters, felt them up, and advised me to use the jumbo washer for one and the double load washer for the other. Which was nice due to all the giant washers being in use and having a long time to go. The dryers took longer than I thought they would. And I could see how it would be a bit loud - but it was an overall enjoyable experience. Which is saying a lot for a laundromat. read more

However, when the workers are allowed to bring their small children to work, and refuse to parent them, allowing them to run all over, beat on the vending machines, throw balls - very nearly hitting both my husband and myself, scream and throw temper tantrums, and lock themselves in the bathrooms - well, it's a bit much to handle. Not to mention that one of the boys could not keep his hands out of his pants for half of the time we were there, it's disgusting. I've been to two other laundromats in Reno and this is my favorite. It always appear clean and the service is nothing exceptional but it is pleasant. There are plenty of machines to choose from and never short of dryers even on a busy day. There are also a lot of chairs to chill in while waiting. Was bumming when our dryer broke and it seemed as if every bit of laundry the house was dirty. Double-bummed to find there were no laundromats near our home in South Reno. Googled, and Duds n' Suds was the closest - about 15 minutes away near Meadowood Mall. Even with its good reviews, I entered with tempered expectations ... What a pleasant surprise Duds n' Suds ended up being! Clean, comfortable, with extremely helpful and friendly staff. I forgot to stop at the ATM on the way, and Jim at the counter saved me a trip back out again by letting me use a credit card for the washer use, some snacks plus $6 change in quarters for the dryers. They offer three different sized wash machines, and since this was our first time we didn't know which machines to select. Jim looked at our loads and guided us to just the right size machines. Three jumbo washer loads were done in 31 minutes (the exact time I was told), and two over-sized dryers took about 45 minutes to dry what would've been the equivalent of 4 loads in our home dryer (and probably 6 to 8 hours of continuous time.) Lovin' that they offer free WiFi. The Netflix-enabled TV (binging Star Trek Voyager) and nachos-snack kept my step-daughter occupied throughout the experience. Hopefully, our dryer at home will be fixed soon and we won't *have* to come back again, however happy to know that it will be a pleasant experience if we ever do need to come back again. read more

This is the most painless way to do your laundry. I'm guilty of letting mine pile up a mile high. What can i say..It's my least favorite chore of all time. This duds n suds is right next to Meadowood mall tucked away in the corner. It's spacious, comfortable and has a lot of features that most laundry mats don't have. There's an attendent/bartender, they have snacks, free wifi and a bathroom! They even have a row of slot machines if you feel like gambling. They have plenty of washers and dryers from regular size to giant for comforters etc. I am here on a Saturday afternoon after procrastinating all day and I'm glad I went out of my way to come here. The other places I go to are usually cram packed with other miserable laundry procrastinators. :) This is going to be my go to spot from here on out. read more

There is no Duds, while doing Suds here...if you don't have a good time while doing laundry here, there is something wrong, you have BEER, and arcade, a Pool Table and TV's...can get much better than that. Lets be real here, laundry is not fun, if it were not for the fact that I cant afford to buy new clothes to replace the dirty one, I wouldn't touch a washing machine. I come here to wash my King size comforter, I use the super sized washer, it takes about 30mins, then I pop it their super sized dryers ...25 cents for 10mins...so after about an hour I have a nice clean blanket, a beer and some pretzels and cheese and couldn't be happier. The staff is super friendly and informative, I was asking a ton of questions...turns out that you can drop off your dirty laundry and they will clean it for you...it a dollar per pound, cant really beat that!! Beware they do not like outside food or drinks, so think twice about getting that Starbucks to jump start your laundry motivation. Also I would avoid this place right after burning man, made that mistake once, but overall a nice environment and a great place to get some fresh clothes. read more

If you need to entice a man to do his laundry....bait him with beer! My first ever laundromat (amazingly enough will all my traveling) that I have used that served beer. I figured I might as well partake while cleaning my work clothes. Place was busy during my visit, but was able to get in and out within about 65 minutes with wash and dry. $2.25 to wash per load, and $0.25 per 10 minutes to dry. About average in my book these days. There is nothing inviting about this place at all. It's dirty, employees smoking outside the front for a half hour, and there are not enough dryers. I understand that they're trying to make doing laundry not so much a chore but a fun place to hang out and socialize. However, their approached is not organized as far as you can't bring in out side food (but they only offer hotdogs), the machines are too expensive, and the staff is unprofessional. Just a tip...The pool table is taking up space, get rid of it and put in dryers. Combine the bar area with the front desk and put in newer machines with dryers. read more

I have seen it all now. I put my laundry in the washer and I turned it on and I wanted warm water. The machine would not run on warm if you didn't put in another 50 cents. I've never seen a washing machine that did that. It's not the 50 cents that matters there should be a sign letting you know this or just add the 50 cents so people can get warm water to wash their clothe. To put salt in my eye the manager said that all laundry's do that. I've been to 4 others in Reno and none do it. It's more about the principle than the 50 cents. I won't be going back and will let all my friends know too. Shame on you Don't s and Suds. You should be embarrassed. read more

So, I must admit that I was curious to see this place. The yelp reviews were good and I had some time to kill, not to mention some laundry to do. This place is cool, has a bar for an afternoon beer (if you want) seriously, it's 5 o'clock somewhere, grab some snacks or play some pool. The attendant was super nice and happens to be from my area of the woods! Chatted for a bit and then I let her get back to work. This place has a full laundry service! Drop and go :) You can play slots or watch Btw while you wait, Its kinda like being at home, except you can't run around in your underwear. I went here despite a recommendation to visit a facility with newer machines (which was also located closer to my hotel) so that I could have a glass of wine and play/gamble while waiting.... Didn't realize I was only gambling on destroying my clothing ... The washing machines were not only inefficient (I washed my friend's laundry twice) but more costly than advertised (STARTING at 2.75) on the website. (There is also no wine btw) One of the dryers RUINED several articles of clothing. It seems as if there was gum/candy left in the dryer which left a sticky mess on some clothes and BURNT on to others. The employee showed zero concern and offered no apology nor compensation when I showed her what happened. She suggested that I purchase a bottle of "grease lightning" from Walmart. When I asked if she would at least set the washer to rinse the sticky mess she only reluctantly agreed when I reassured her that I would leave with my dresses wet (because it was close to closing). I sent only one of my favorite dresses to be cleaned from the hotel (which cost me nearly $20)...they were able to remove most of the stains but the dress lost it's shape. *Sigh Also..."last load in" at 9 apparently refers to dryer not washer...this created an angry confrontation (and uncomfortable situation) btwn a customer and the employee on duty read more

Had to find a place to wash baseball uniforms while in Reno so we decided they check this place out. It was a bit tricky to find because it is on the backside of the building that faces Virginia St. It was clean and the price for washing was comparable to other places we've been. Bonuses include a bar! Yes.... you read that right... a bar, a few slots, video poker, a decent seating area with tables so kids can color or watch a movie at while they wait. There were actually a ton of kids here and they were all occupied and engaged. The dryers are .25 cents for 10 minutes and work well. The employee working behind the bar was super friendly and was nice to talk to. My only complaint was that they had no sink. Usually laundromats have a sink. I needed a place to get my clothes ready for work. looked this up took a shot. first off my experince started with Tree helping me find the correct machine for the amount of clothes I have -thank you very much, saved me a couple dollars for sure. she guided me to the correct machine and off I went. I needed quarters, several machines that exchange quickly. after putting clothes in Rae, helped me understand the dryers and how hot the dryers ran, my clothes must hang dry after slightly drying. excellent advice . both of these women were energetic, helpful and very compassionate, I was a rookie. thank you to Tree and Rae, when I have laundry in Reno I will return here every time. thank you very much. I used to use Duds n' Suds over 15 years ago. The same location was in business when I returned to Reno. I use it intermittently, but when I do I learned to "tip" the staff like Jim a couple of bucks to help me start the jumbo 60 pound and 80 pound washers. I pay cash at the register and the employee will do their tricks to start the load without me having to feed a large amount of quarters to get it started. I use the free WiFi to download the latest apps on my iPhone. The two bathrooms are large and clean. This location is on the edge of Meadowood Mall. I saw a large double rainbow recently outside so I took a few pics of it while going to wash my load. The double rainbow as seen from the parking lot of Duds n' Suds overlooking the parking lot of Meadowood Mall was so stunning that Jim, who was the bartender/night shift employee pointed it out to some of the guests doing their laundry. WoW ! a nice rainbow & great customer service. But wait grasshopper... there's more... They give Military/ Vets 25% off if you show the bartender your ID card. read more

Reasonably priced for both washing and drying, and a wide range of washer sizes to choose from. Went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't too busy. WiFi, beers on tap, and friendly staff. I'd never been to a laundromat in Reno prior to last weekend, but when the need arose it was clear the only option for maximum sanity was Duds 'n' Suds. No, their machines don't go any faster. It's still a laundromat. But, at least here I can drink a beer and play some video blackjack while I wait for my comforter to finish washing. Plus, my $3 in the blackjack machine lasted me almost 45 minutes which is basically unheard of. They have a several different size options when considering washers, which is key when you're only there because your items won't fit in the one you have at home. I used the medium-sized (I believe 50#) machine, which ended up being $6 for the load--not entirely unreasonable. There is at least one size machine larger, but I believe there might be two. A king-size comforter fit in the machine I used just fine. I brought my own soap, but they have some there for purchase as well. Dryers are pretty cheap, 0.25 for 10 minutes. Bring small bills to get quarters, or else you'll be like me and have $20 in quarters that you don't know what to do with. Whole facility was clean and machine appeared in good repair. People there were nice and didn't seem to have as much of the creepy vibe that can happen, but that might just have been that it was a wild Saturday evening at the laundromat. read more

At first I wasn't going to leave a review. I mean, after all, how different can laundromats be? Well, one difference is staffing. This place actually has staff on site. Pleasant staff. It also has enough entertainment to make waiting less boring. I was particularly impressed with what was on TV. Not cable news and not talk shows. So thank you for that too. I would give 5 stars except for one shortcoming. There should be machines dedicated to fragrance free. I had to leave my bedspread out overnight to get rid of the dryer sheet smell. I dont ever have someone do my laundry for me. I had emergency surgery right after I cleaned out storge and moved. I probably had 10 loads and it had a funny smell from storage. I called talked to Jimmy and he said he would help. He came out picked it up and brought it back. I had a blanket that my husband give me right befor he passed and I was worried about it. After he left I found the bag with it in it. NO SMELL they had it bagged up very neat. So the washer's on the fritz, which means Family and I have had to haul all our crap to the laundromat...ugh. But, if anything can make doing laundry away from home bearable, it's a bar INSIDE the laundromat. Yep, order up a Bud and play a few rounds of pool while your clothes clean. Brilliant. Everything here is always clean and well maintained, and the staff are very friendly. We've never had a problem finding open machines, either. Attendants constantly on duty, TVs, open restrooms, and they even charge less than anywhere else I've been. This particular one will even serve you a beer at 8 am. 2.25 for the cheapest washers and 25 cents for 25 minutes dry time, which is a bit more expensive than the other laundries, but not enough to go out of your way if this place is closest. They have a friendly attendant always on hand who does triple duty between taking in dry cleaning, fixing machine issues, and will pour you out one and chat if you belly up to the bar. Bar is basically just a tiny little snack bar. Domestic drafts on tap. You pay for the convenience and novelty - 3.25 for a Bud draft, 2.50 for a hot dog or nachos. TV at the back, apparently on Sundays during football season they put a game on and do a 4.50 "dog and draft" special. Handful of arcade machines at the back and a pool table. Handful of those usual slot machines too. Despite the booze and slots it's a chill place, typical laundromat atmosphere, no bum shenanigans. read more

My washing machine at home was broken, so I had no other choice, but to go to the laundromat. The reason why I chose this particular location was because of the fact that they were open the earliest in the area. But this establishment had a bizarre arrangement of patrons, even for 7 in the morning. Maybe it's due to the location, but no one seemed hesitant towards their morning bud heavy to go along with folding clothes. However, the bartender was extremely helpful, and even offered to help me fold my sheets. Wow, pretty impressive for a freaking Laundromat. Short and sweet: We went in at 4pm on a Sunday. We had 5 loads to put in the 50# washers (yes, you read that correctly...and don't judge!). Each 50# washing machine runs for 36 minutes for $6.00 - now hold on, in case you're swallowing your tongue! For that price, let me tell you...those clothes are CLEAN! And if you use a scented clothes soap, they smell soooo good! The larger dryers we used (right next to the 50# washers) ran for 10 minutes for 25 cents. On average, we had to run them at a cost of $1.00-$1.25 (40-50 minutes). The dryers worked great! Again, the clothes came out smelling so good and very fluffy! We had ample space and time to fold; we loved Crystal the bar gal; we had a hot dog, chips, cinnamon roll, and a couple of non-alcoholic drinks. All was groovy; fair prices. The Sunday Night Football game was on (extra points from me just for that!), the place was clean because Crystal was constantly on the job, which I really appreciated. There is nothing more aggravating than a wet, black sock trying to jump ship and it lands on a dusty floor! Eesh... What can I say??? Like I said, short and sweet (for me!): 5 STARS FOR PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING CLEAN, OPERABLE, NICE WASHERS/DRYERS NICE STAFF, NICE CUSTOMERS EASY ACCESS, GREAT HOURS, 7 DAYS A WEEK For as much as you can pack in those 50# washers, $6.00 a load is SO WORTH IT. I learned a long time ago to not wash my dog bed covers in my home machine. Just a little dog hair clogs up my washer. I used to go to a laundromat off Kings Row but that place didn't even have bathrooms! So I tried Duds and Suds which is a much better place. They have bathrooms, free wi-fi, video games and alcohol. There's a TV in the corner with some games for the kids and a seating area, pool table and the food area with bar. The food is reasonably priced. Nathan's hot dogs at $2. Pretzels at $1.25. Large soda $2. Bottled Water $0.75. The machines and the facility is completely clean. If I ever have to do laundry while traveling in Reno, this is where we're going. read more
