It was really nice to have a café like this as an option -- pastries, salads, sandwiches, coffee, and even wine if the mood strikes. Definitely different from the usual casino food choices. The service was good, and the food honestly exceeded our expectations for a small café. The pastries were fresh, huge portions. Everything tasted like it came from a much more expensive restaurant, without the expensive price. And it's your basic little cafe to sit for coffee or grab & go, which is what we did. GREAT RESORT COFFEE & TEA SPOT! Nestled inside the Aquarius Resort and Casino is Duet which is known for its bountiful coffee options, soothing tea, and yummy pastries (donuts, fritters)! I really wanted to like my iced chai latte, but I was a bit disappointed. It tasted like the chai concentrate was stuck at the bottom and it wasn't as sweet as it looks or as I thought it would be. Management has destroyed this business in order to save costs. I attempted to visit last week on Friday at 2:30pm. Duet was closed. Staff nearby told me that Duet now closes at 2pm daily. The business is advertised as "Duet Coffee and Wine" but the quality wine dispensers were removed many years ago, and there is zero wine visible there or on the menu boards. Wine is there effectively in name only. I guess management sees no need to rename or rebrand the facility hoping customers won't notice the lack of wine. On Saturday I returned at 1:45pm and the display cases that used to be stocked fully with sandwiches and pastry were near empty. Clearly many of the pastry offering of the past are no longer sold at all (not sold out), as well as most of the sandwiches and wraps. I'd say easily more than half of the former food items on the menu and no longer sold. So to review, it's a business that supposedly sells wine that doesn't sell wine and closes most days by 2pm, while having a very poor selection of foods. Pretty much, it is a casino owned coffee stand, that is open for breakfast and closes a couple of hours after noon. If you want a cup of coffee at 3pm, you have to go elsewhere. An embarrassment. The Aquarius Casino has an independent coffee and wine shop called Duet. It's on the casino floor near the main entrance so it's quite handy. I had espressos there both mornings and the second morning I had a bagel breakfast sandwich which was much like a McBagel as it were. I was surprised that a breakfast sandwich would come with pepperoncini but it was an OK way to start the day when you're not having a traditional breakfast. Because of the time of the year, many of the casino restaurants were closed except for weekends or until the Christmas/New Year's time because of lower occupancy at the hotels. The staff at Duet was OK. One funny story--the first morning I ordered a quad espresso over ice in a large cup--my daily drink. The woman asked if quad was two shots. I thought their prices were a bit on the high side but when you're the only game in the casino, if you want it you pay for it. read more

We came here twice on this trip to grab a frappe while walking in the heat and to just relax after a big meal. The first time we came our coffee drinks were very tasty and well balanced. The second time we ordered the same exact thing and they were different. While it is nice to come to a place that isn't a chain, there is also a reason chains are popular. This is a cute little cafe tucked conveniently within the Aquarius casino. If there were no other options around, I'd take a panini over McDonalds or Panda Express (the other two quick food options in the Aquarius casino). I got the iced white mocha (no whip), as this is my go-to whenever I'm uncertain about a coffee joint. It's alright--I had low expectations to begin with, because I'm the basic Starbucks and Dutch Bros customer. It isn't overly sweet, so I'd have to say this is your best choice if you need a cup of coffee after a long night of gambling & drinking. About $5 for a small, so typical for a coffee place in its location. Needed a well deserved desert after dinner. We wanted to try something different. My parents have tried the eclair before. It was so big they split it between the two of them in two days. They loved it though. We choose the cheesecake. One strawberry swirl and one crème brûlée. They are on a stick which I'd prefer them not to be. You can taste a little of the stick. The texture was kind of crumbly. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as we hoped. The staff here is really nice and more than happy to explain everything. At this point, I was abundantly (and painfully) aware of the fact I was not staying in Las Vegas, but 7:00am seems way too late for a coffee shop to be opening in a casino resort when there is a McDonald's and Subway open 24/7 right next to the coffee shop. My wife and the kids had come here the afternoon before around 5:30pm and ordered a Medium Iced Whole Milk Mocha (Laina), a Medium Vanilla Chia Latte with Almond Milk (Jessica) and a Medium Toffee Nut Latte. The clear winner was the Chia Latte, but what was unclear was it the almond milk making the latte more flavorful or was it just a better drink. The Iced Mocha was an acceptable version of the drink and the Toffee Nut Latte was lacking in flavor and was the bust of three drinks. Jessica was kind of enough to share / give her Chia Latte to Erica and no one was forced to consume the bland latte. As far what we ordered, Laina liked the hot mocha better than the iced, probably because the hot version does a better job of breaking down and mixing the cocoa powder. I think she considers this coffee shop a viable option with the limited amount of caffeine caves in the immediate area. As far as my éclair goes, I thought $6.50 was a hefty price tag, but this is a hefty donut and I was able to save half for breakfast the following morning. My normal complaint would be the lack of custard, but if you look at my picture, the éclair from Duet had almost the opposite issue. The shell of the éclair had the desired rich brown coloring (maybe a little too rich) and a crisp texture. The custard was pretty pedestrian, not bad, but lacking a noteworthy flavor which allowed the bittersweet chocolate glaze to really shine. The glaze didn't crack when I cut the éclair in half and it had just the right balance of bitter and sweet which indicates a higher level of chocolate quality is being used for the glaze. The late opening time can be an issue with caffeine users (the wife is the walking dead until she gets her first mug / cup), but with the only other legit coffee shop (Starbucks) being a couple blocks away (Harrah's), I don't see an addict making that far in the morning without committing at least one homicide, so save a life and wait until this spot opens if you are staying at the Aquarius! read more

The Aquarius performed the unthinkable by upping the Las Vegas Strip on opening a cafe specializing in both coffee and wine. Furthermore the Aquarius did the unthinkable by replacing their Starbuck's with a superior cafe. The pairing of coffee and alcohol is a neat concept. Drinking sometimes has an affect on me where I get tired. Oftentimes when I'd have a couple drinks on the Strip I'd pick up a coffee to counterbalance the affect. I always thought it would be a good idea combining coffee with alcohol. Duet is along the perimeter wall of the Aquarius by McDonald's and Subway. The interior is cheerful. It is a cafe suitable for relaxing. Duet showcases the pastries and sandwiches in attractive display cases. Their pastries make Starbuck's pastries look amateurish. They include vanilla cupcakes, oreo cupcakes, Tiramisu cupcakes, assorted cheesecakes, cannolis, Nappoleons, and eclairs. The sandwiches include Portabello paninis, chicken breast paninis, philly cheese steak paninis, a bagel breakfast sandwich, and varieties of wraps. Above the displaycases are funny wine quotes such as, "Wine improves with age. I improve with wine." "A Meal without wine is like a day without sunshine." It is humor that could brighten people's faces by the time they order. Duet serves wine and shots. There is a self pour machine with choices of wine and instructions. It is the Red Box for wine. I was surprised to see a menu for cordial shots. And for $2 with the purchase of coffee you could buy a cordial shot. They include Bailey's Irish Cream, Kailua, Irish Whiskey, and Amaretto. On my two recent visits to Laughlin, I visited Duet strictly for coffee. I applaud Duet for offering strawberry syrup which is my preference for drip coffee. And I give Duet a shout out for serving quality coffee. Both times I visited Duet, it was jumping with people. It kind of makes me wonder if the Aquarius's sister Las Vegas properties The Stratosphere and Arizona Charlies will open a Duet. The fact that I'm writing this is testimony that I regard Duet as worthy of 4 stars. Let me close off this review with a couple of tips. If your a Starbuck's fan don't be :( because both the Golden Nugget and Harrah's have one. And if you visit Duet sign up for the ACE card if you don't have one. Upon entering,you see all these delicious looking pastries and sweets. I had my eye on the cheese cake,but opted to get a HUGE Cinnabon cheese whip cream. Wow,too big for 1 person,amd so messy! Well, I wasn't able to try the wine dispensers as when I came in the other night they were not working, so as much as I would like to share my experience there, I can't. I did come back for a second crack at bfast and I am sad to say that neither the coffee nor the bfast bagel sandwich improved. I also ordered a hot tea and was surprised and disappointed to find out it is bagged, not loose leaf, and that for a tea bag and 12 oz of hot water $2.29 is a bit much. I will say, though, that what they are lacking in food/drink quality and value, they make up for in staff kindness. The guys and gals behind the counter are very hard working and do their best to provide customer service. This place is just nasty and gross. We ordered a giant cinnamon roll. and the roll was harder than a hockey puck. Brought it back down and the manager said that it wasn't there's. Had to go back upstairs get the receipt and walk down and show these idiots. He still gave me a hard time. Asked me if I wanted credit I said I want my money back. There's flies in the pastry tray and no one seems to care even after it was brought to their attention. You're kind of at their mercy because that's all this hotel has to offer and less you want to eat some McDonald's which I'd rather eat nothing. I come to Laughlin, NV for my Begas away from Vegas :) I love this little coffee spot because you can have your privacy while working on the computer or reading a book while having a great cup of coffee. I don't usually buy anything else here but coffee but they do have a great variety of sandwiches and cakes :) The WiFi here is ok but not great just a heads up - not for streaming movies but great for work.
