Best BBQ in ABQ! I've eaten here about 10 or so times. The food has always been excellent! Love the pulled pork, turkey, and brisket. Our favorite sides are the Mac n cheese and fried okra. Duke City BBQ has become one of my favorite BBQ spots in town. I stop in several times a month for the pulled pork sandwich with a side of beans, and it never disappoints. It was our first time trying this place. We have heard good things about this place and wanted to give it a try. The restaurant is located in a mini mall. Just right off Unser. There seems to be plenty of places to sit inside the restaurant. But if you come on a day when it's busy, you may have to wait a little bit to sit down or take your food to go. . There were plenty of people coming in for their phone orders, so we knew that it was a place that many patrons like to eat at. We arrived at a good time, a little after lunch time. But it did start to get packed. We did inquire about the brisket and we were told they do offer the moist option. They cut a piece from the brisket and handed it to me. It tasted good. We decided on a loaded, baked potato with brisket. And also the one meat combo which included two side sides in a drink. All of it was pretty delicious and we plan to come back. read more

I was so happy they opened a location on the west side! I have eaten at the San Mateo location and the food was great. Small little restaurant with tables and a nice homey decor. Staff was excellent and very friendly. Quick service. The food.........was disappointing. I ordered the sausage sandwich combo with jalapeño cheddar sausage, fries and a pork loin sandwich. The sausage was overcooked, with an almost burnt casing. The pork loin was dry and overcooked as well. The buns were pre-toasted and almost stale...the edges were hard and not from toasting. I will give them a second try so hopefully it was just an off day. read more

Ordered the BBQ to go! We got in line before there was actually a line. Ordered the three meat. Beef brisket, pulled pork and more brisket. Chose corn on the cob as our sides. We loaded up on some sauce and headed home. From the first bite to the last. Well worth it! We were very satisfied. Service, menu and the food were an A+! Nice to see the west side getting some love from businesses. Probable our favorite BBQ in the city has opened a store close to us. The problem is whether or not the quality remains the same. Happy to say it does. Brisket tended enough to fall apart flavorful with a nice layer of bark. Cole slaw was great - better than the San Mateo store. This one had pineapple, mango & cranberry. The wife got a Brisket Bowl - Brisket, Chile Rice & BBQ beans. Flavorful, tender & filling. TThe store is bright & modern looking with the usual outgoing staff. This was the worst BBQ I've had. It had no flavor and there is no sign the meat is actually smoked, which is a requirement for BBQ. For the quality of BBQ, it is extremely over priced. read more

Stopped at this bbq place and ordered a 2 meat combo plate with 2 sides, to go. The 2 meats were supposed to be sliced brisket and a jalapeño sausage. When I got home and opened the packages there was no "sliced" brisket and it was all in chunks and very dry plus this looked like it was cut with the grain instead of against the grain. It was bad enough that it was very dry and cut with the grain just made it tougher. It's like Clark Griswold in Christmas Vacation chewing on that turkey dinner!! The sausage, well just look at the pics. The amount of each meat is only 4 ounces...4 ounces of chunks!! BBQ joints usually have someone that knows about brisket and how to slice it. Not here...the girl up front knows nothing about brisket except how to weigh 4 ounces. BEWARE FOLKS! NEVER AGAIN!! Paid over $23 for this mess. read more

Food was fantastic. I went with the pulled pork sandwich and a side of Mac & cheese. The pork was a nice flavorful pulled pork, and the sauce is fantastic. I personally liked a 50/50 mix of the classic and spicy. The spicy kinda covered the flavor of the sweet a bit too much on its own, but the mixture was a perfect blend. I saw the reviews on the other side of town of abq. So I thought let's try it out on the west side. Well ..... you know how you wished someone told you not to go to this location so they can save you money and the time. I wished that happened. What's even sad I tried it on Mother's Day and that ruined the meal. Not worth going and a waste of money. Brisket sandwich was way too salty you can't even eat it, the turkey combo was way too salty as well, the jalapeño cheddar sausage don't get me started, the serving size was real small and not even a good serving that's worth it's money. Ate the coleslaw, was not fresh, you can tell it's been sitting there for some time by the looks of it and the texture, when it's really soft and not firm likes it's been made instantly. The cup it came in you would have to get two or three cups for a good serving, the cups are way too small. The pricing for each food on the menu and the total is not with it at all. When I ordered, I spoke to this real young person working the register, he didn't barely look me in the eye like he doesn't care to help me and he didn't finish his sentences and he barely didn't answer my questions. Someone else stepped up to talk to me, clear and loud enough for me to hear and was as courteous answering my questions. read more

The ambiance is real nice and the service was good and the food was fast , I ordered the 3 meat combo and I so desperately wanted it to be good but the brisket I got was all fat , the pork loin wasn't super flavorful but at least it wasn't dry and the most disappointing was the green chile sausage the flavor was there but the sausage itself was just mush inside the casing , hopefully it was just a bad batch because I'd still try it one more time read more

So I decided to try this place on the west side. Sat night, 6-ish, the line actually was outside the door. I decided to do an online order and sit in my car outside, bc the line was so long. So after 20 mins or so, I went just inside the door for a little bit, because there isn't really a place designated for on-line orders or door dash, but didn't wanna be a jerk. I was standing there for about 5 minutes and then the cashier asked who in line was there for a door dash or online order. Immediately 4 of us raised our hands and we were dispatched quickly. I heard him apologize and mention that they were getting inundated with door dash and online orders on top of all the walk-ins. While I was in there, it never stopped buzzing. I'm happy to report that all employees on deck were frantically filling orders but no one ever had a bad attitude. Congrats to your staff for staying calm while in the weeds! I ordered the 505 potato, the pulled pork sandwich, the spicy chop sandwich, the regular baked potato with beef brisket, a couple of orders of fries and a pint of coleslaw. Also an extra 8 oz of the spicy bbq sauce (it came in a mason jar, wtaf?). Big order, nothing missing! The food was wonderful and no one in our group could say anything bad about their food! It was amazing! I think I'm going try the Dino ribs next weekend? The flavor of their bbq sauce and meats are great. I hate when all you taste is the smoke of a meat and nothing else. It should be a marriage of the flavors of meat and sauce, but that's just me. I don't usually eat BBQ outside my own home-cooking, but Duke City has definitely given me that to-go option. to go orders are packaged very poorly! no plates or clam styrofoam containers . everything packaged separately. the paper bag was so flimsy that it fell apart before I ever got home. lids came off the potato salad and cream corn. what a mess!! they really should consider something a bit more substantial for to go orders. most of what my family ordered ended up in the floorboard of my Jeep. $57 wasted. can't review the food because we couldn't eat it. read more
