I'm still enjoying this wonderful BBQ spot! This time I got a pulled pork sandwich, mac & cheese, which I had not previously tried, and fried okra. Generous portions on everything and all the food was really good. Of note, the mac & cheese was super creamy and really delicious. I'm not sure how they make their mac & cheese, but I'll be ordering that again. The order was filled expeditiously and delivered on time. I was craving BBQ and really wanted to try this place. So off we went after work. We arrived and the place did not have anyone there. We ordered some brisket and turkey with beans, okra and potato salad. We also decided to try the banana pudding as well. We sat down and a few more people arrived. The food came out hot and fresh within a few minutes. The okra was so delicious. The BBQ sauces were on the sweet side. They have both the classic and spicy. But it really was not spicy at all. The turkey was moist and delicious. The brisket was moist and did not have too much fat that needed to be trimmed off. Overall the food was amazing and we will be back again. Wow, the great yelp reviews did not steer me wrong! I'm not sure where the best BBQ is in Albuquerque, but this has to be towards the top! Service was amazing, nice clean restaurant. But the food was the star! They had a handwritten note saying "pork belly today"!!!!! I got the 3 meat combo, green chili sausage, turkey and the pork belly, with cream corn and okra. Been to Duke City BBQ about 4 times now. I have left happy and full each time!! The menu is short and sweet which I love. You can make it a sandwich, or a combo, get it on a baked potato or a bowl over rice. I partake in the combo myself. The sides are tasty as well. The mac' n cheese hits and the baked beans are filled with bonus pieces of pork! Tell me about the other sides if you have had them, I just find myself rotating between those two. The brisket is my go to selection for meat. I typically accompany my meal with a Torpedo, which I highly recommend. If you like jalapeno poppers, you must at least try one. It is a jumbo jalapeno stuffed to the brim with pulled pork and cream cheese, then wrapped in bacon. Honestly I feel like it could be a light meal on it's own. Food tasted really good, got the half pound of brisket (very moist and had a good bark) and also had 2x jalapeño torpedos (what I actually originally wanted the most) but over all very good! Ambiance was very nice and welcoming and service was fast and welcoming. Only negative I would say was, I over hyped the Jalapeño torpedo in my head because I thought this thing was going to be huge with a lot of brisket and cream cheese inside for 3.99$ for only one jalapeño and when I went to eat it I was welcomed with a toothpick inside. We were driving from AZ to Santa Fe and I had done my research on a yummy lunch spot. And we hit the jackpot!!! I had the Smoked Turkey Sandwich with Mac and Cheese and my husband had the Brisket Sandwich with Potato Salad. Both dishes were mouthwatering! The turkey was oh so tender- the best! My husband loved his brisket and said it had a nice bark on it. The buns were pillowy soft. We didn't even use BBQ sauce on our sandwiches- the flavor spoke for itself. Braelo offered us complimentary desserts of Banana Pudding and a Tres Leches dessert. Due to our full bellies we will devour them when we reach Santa Fe. Such a marvelous find! Went a few times to give my thoughts and review this establishment. On my first trip, I had the 505 Stuffed potato with brisket, which was amazing and very filling. I could only eat half and save some for another meal. My only concern was that I thought the torpedo was going to be bacon wrapped like the ones they advertised, but it's just a grilled pepper. On the next visit, we had the meat combo and ribs. The meat combo plate I got brisket, spicy bbq chop and sausage. The brisket is moist and not too fatty. The sausage was ok too, but I liked the green chile pepper jack more. The spicy bbq chop is very flavorful but a little bit greasy. The ribs we had the Dino ribs, which was huge and tasted like a beef roast. The Dino ribs had a peppery rub and nearly fell off the bone. I would come back for one of these. The regular pork ribs were very meaty, too, but not as flavorful as the dino ribs. Dipping it into the bbq sauce gives it all the flavor it needed. As for the sides, they are all pretty bland and nothing special. The bbq beans and potatoes salad are probably the best and safe options. I didn't care for the coleslaw because I wasn't a fan of the pineapple and raisins in it which was a surprise. The mac and cheese was very thick without much flavor. read more

Stopped by Dukes for a late lunch on a Monday. You must understand this is more of a " fast food" BBQ place than a " pits smoking outside smell the hickory" place. That being said, the BBQ was solid. We ordered at the counter, and in all we tried brisket, jalapeno sausage, the torpedo, the 505 potato and the beans. Very tasty!!! Of note was the 505 potato.... Just a big mound of deliciousness. Being from TX we have higher expectations and it is really hard to find a good place to grab BBQ. I had the 1 meat combo plate with regular sausage (cheese sausage) with potato salad. My husband had the brisket with the cole slaw. The sausage is quite flavorful and paired with the spicy BBQ sauce it was especially yummy. Sausage isn't greasy (a definite plus in my book). The husband's brisket was a little fatty but the meat itself was tender and came apart easily. It also had a nice crust to it. His cole slaw was sweet (which may turn some off) but it was really good. It tasted as if it had pineapple or apple in it. Surprisingly good, actually, and I don't generally like sweet cole slaw. My potato was huge and loaded with Butter, Sour Cream, Cheese, Beans Green Chile and their super tasty and flavorful Pulled pork! The Green Chile had the perfect Heat level and every bite was perfect. No way I could eat it all in one setting! Our second selection was the BBQ Bowl with Pork Loin. A large bowl of BBQ beans and Green Chile Cheese Rice with a savory portion of Pork Loin. Mouth watering! We intended to end the meal with banana pudding but it was a swing and a miss. It was the only disappointing thing in our order. So much was good. Clean place, attentive staff, fast service (the simple menu lends to this). We got a pull pork sandwich and a beef brisket. Both were good, very tender meat. My only concern and I know many wouldn't agree but the fat chunks on the brisket were gross. I'm fine with some fat left on the meat. But that's when it's almost unnoticeable. Not the case here. There was so much fat it was almost half the sandwich. I started making a pile of it. And here are my concerns: When there's that much big pieces of fat it means the person preparing the sandwiches is too lazy to trim the fat. I deducted one star for the bad pork belly I had. It was tough and the fat was disgusting because it was not smoked long enough. Had to toss it, and that was expensive waste. The other issue is the coleslaw - too sweet and with raisins? No thanks. I did order the tres leches cake but it had so much cinnamon in it that it was practically inedible. This is a very nice barbecue joint that you will find in a little strip mall. Being that it is in a strip mall, it has an adequate private parking lot that it shares with the other businesses. The restaurant has a decent sized dining area, with televisions to watch and music playing throughout. The staff there was the friendliest that I have experienced in a while. They were upbeat, friendly, helpful and courteous. They serve a lot if your barbecue favorites including pulled pork, cheddar sausage, brisket and ribs. I wanted it all, or at least as much as I could, so I got the 3 meat combo. I got the pulled pork, brisket, and spicy BBQ chop with a side of baked beans and a bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeno. It took about 5 minutes for me to get my food and even though, it was prepared, it was fresh and hot. I had a hard time finding the barbecue, but later discovered that it was hidden in plain sight. You will find two types of barbecue sauce, spicy and regular, in tea dispensers in the condiment station. That was some fine, delicious "Q". If I had to pick my favorite meat, it would be the spicy BBQ chop. Bit it was all good, and you can't go wrong with any of them. There is no real bad choice here. The beans had a little kick to them, just like I like them and were very savory. I highly recommend this joint. The have first class service and some of the best barbecue. Only one visit so far, but both my friend and I agreed that the food was really great. Brisket had a good smoke and juiciness without wads of fat, green chile sausage tasted wonderful and the spicy chop was a delight. And the sides! The creamed corn was - as everyone has mentioned - some of the best ever (oh so rich) and the beans are really remarkable for the amount of flavor they pack. The service was ON IT and really warm and friendly (everyone from the owner to a cook to the cashier), the room was bright and clean enough to eat off the floor and even the condiment/fixin's bar was spotlessly maintained. The spicy sauce was good, if a little on the thin side (but neither of us used much sauce - there was just so much flavor in the meat!). Okay, the prices aren't low. These days, I'm finding everything is expensive. When I got home I told my wife, it might cost a little more than other places, but you have GOT to come try this Duke City BBQ with me. Visiting a new town it is always nice to share a meal at a local spot. Cousin brought us here and we all ate until very full. The food was plentiful but lacked the flavor profile I was craving. A Beef rib had good texture and a nice char but very little beefy flavor. The sauces were lackluster. Service is at the counter was friendly and efficient. Place was big enough for three tvs and we could sit far enough away from the families. I did like that they had a small condiment bar with peppers and pickled items to cut the fattiness. read more
