Fried okra (top), Mac n' cheese (middle) and pulled pork sandwich with sauce (bottom)

I'm still enjoying this wonderful BBQ spot! This time I got a pulled pork sandwich, mac & cheese, which I had not previously tried, and fried okra. Generous portions on everything and all the food was really good. Of note, the mac & cheese was super creamy and really delicious. I'm not sure how they make their mac & cheese, but I'll be ordering that again. The order was filled expeditiously and delivered on time. Definitely check out this great spot the next time you want some barbecue with all the fixings.

I was craving BBQ and really wanted to try this place. So off we went after work. We arrived and the place did not have anyone there. We ordered some brisket and turkey with beans, okra and potato salad. We also decided to try the banana pudding as well. We sat down and a few more people arrived. The food came out hot and fresh within a few minutes. The okra was so delicious. The BBQ sauces were on the sweet side. They have both the classic and spicy. But it really was not spicy at all. The turkey was moist and delicious. The brisket was moist and did not have too much fat that needed to be trimmed off. Overall the food was amazing and we will be back again. The price was right for the food that you get.

First time visiting and it was great! I was craving a giant stuffed baked potato and duke city bbq did not miss the mark! I got a brisket stuffed baked potato we also had a side of cream corn which was super tasty and my husband and son got the ribs... which they loved! You order at the front and then your called when your order is ready. Counter service was friendly and offered samples of their sausage. Can't wait to return again and try something new!

Wow, the great yelp reviews did not steer me wrong! I'm not sure where the best BBQ is in Albuquerque, but this has to be towards the top! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was amazing, nice clean restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But the food was the star! They had a handwritten note saying "pork belly today"!!!!! I got the 3 meat combo, green chili sausage, turkey and the pork belly, with cream corn and okra. The turkey was tender and Smokey with great flavor! Sausage was good, pork belly was great too! Okra was hot and amazing! Cream corn was very tasty but more cream than corn. Overall a great meal!

Absolutely amazing! The flavors were fantastic on the brisket! No need for sauce either, the meat is so moist and delicious! We had beans, okra and Mac and cheese as our sides and they were the perfect sides! So good! What a perfect meal! Definitely will be back with family and friends! Thanks for opening on the westside- we need a good BBQ on this side of town! Can't wait to share your restaurant with everyone! I will definitely be a regular!

Brisket sandwich, mac & cheese, with the spicy and regular sauce and some sweet tea

Duke City BBQ on San Mateo was phenomenal! I had the brisket sandwich with the spicy barbecue sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. Overall, a wonderful place to enjoy great food and great service

Dino rib, pork ribs, mac and potatoe salad

Went a few times to give my thoughts and review this establishment. On my first trip, I had the 505 Stuffed potato with brisket, which was amazing and very filling. I could only eat half and save some for another meal. My only concern was that I thought the torpedo was going to be bacon wrapped like the ones they advertised, but it's just a grilled pepper. On the next visit, we had the meat combo and ribs. The meat combo plate I got brisket, spicy bbq chop and sausage. The brisket is moist and not too fatty. The sausage was ok too, but I liked the green chile pepper jack more. The spicy bbq chop is very flavorful but a little bit greasy. The ribs we had the Dino ribs, which was huge and tasted like a beef roast. The Dino ribs had a peppery rub and nearly fell off the bone. I would come back for one of these. The regular pork ribs were very meaty, too, but not as flavorful as the dino ribs. Dipping it into the bbq sauce gives it all the flavor it needed. As for the sides, they are all pretty bland and nothing special. The bbq beans and potatoes salad are probably the best and safe options. I didn't care for the coleslaw because I wasn't a fan of the pineapple and raisins in it which was a surprise. The mac and cheese was very thick without much flavor.

Stopped by Dukes for a late lunch on a Monday. You must understand this is more of a " fast food" BBQ place than a " pits smoking outside smell the hickory" place. That being said, the BBQ was solid. We ordered at the counter, and in all we tried brisket, jalapeno sausage, the torpedo, the 505 potato and the beans. Very tasty!!! Of note was the 505 potato.... Just a big mound of deliciousness. The ladies at the counter were super sweet, and even gave us a little sample of sausage!!!! I thought it was a really good value as well!!

The owner was out of business cards so we used a gift card instead.

The country music track was better than the food. Ribs were lukewarm and were just reheated not fresh. I don't want to go back.

Yummy and tasty food from a small family business worthy of ABQ's local support. Theo the owner…read moredoes the bbq/smoking of the meat himself. You can tell he is passionate and love sharing his bbq with his customer. His signature meat? He mentioned the pulled pork meat and the brisket! The side worthy of trying (although Theo himself doesn't like coleslaw himself? The pineapple coleslaw...based on my brief discussion with another local customer I met onsite! I personally found that the price/value for the amount and quality of food Nomad's bbq provides is well worth it. I had a pulled pork sandwich (plus a bit of brisket and the 2 sides that I couldn't resist trying to save for my next meal) and thought the meat was smokey, jiving and so scrumptious...and this is coming from someone who normally doesn't eat so much meat like myself! Overall, I really like that Theo seems passionate about making the food that he serves. Plus, it doesn't hurt that this bbq type of food tastes so good..and is so rare to find ABQ, too.

Note: Nomad BBQ is no longer at the Rio Grande Blvd sticks 'n bricks location if you, like me…read morebefore an extended road trip, last dealt with him there. Theo's operating in food truck mode only now. He mentioned being at the yellow & blue HappyDaze Cannabis building across from the Maverik gas station on Jefferson St NE at junction of I-25 and Jefferson. I'm unsure of what days & hours. Give him a call to get the "who, what, when, where, why, & how" for his location on any given day. However, I must say that Nomad BBQ is still providing *excellent* Texas style BBQ of exceptional tastiness at very economical prices, given the high quality of the food. If you see their truck anywhere around town, stop in, chow down, and smile ... smile ... smile ... at all the wondrous gustatorial nirvana you've just indulged in. Hands down, killer good BBQ! Everything I said in my previous review still stands. Of special note, besides the extremely good food, is the gregarious, outgoing, and hyper friendly personality that positively shines out of Mr Theo. One of the most convivial food vendors in town. Period!
