Ignored email, phone, and form messages about driver hours for 9 months. Then, wanted to charge $250 to "reinstate" student if perfect attendance didn't happen, and with 6 am drive times all that was available for several months. When I objected to the $250 fee and was walking away to take my business elsewhere, the drive instructor tried to goad me into a fight, saying "don't walk away, turn around," and "come at me, bro." They don't get it. Their lack of professionalism is why I am going to another place for my driver hours and none of my younger children or friends will be going here. Even if the guy wasn't 6'2" and 250 lb, I wouldn't fight him. These people are the epitome of unprofessional bullies. read more

Worst driving school in town. They do not answer the phone nor are they there during their posted business hours. They will take your money then refuse to schedule your child their full driving hours and refuse to give your child their earned certificate. Your child and your money are better off with another company. They are very difficult to work with. read more

I watched one of their advertised caution student driver cars blow a red light on Paseo Del Norte. Did not look like there was more than one person driving so my best guess would be that it was one of their driving instructors or maybe somebody who owns the business. In any case, if the driving school business or instructors are blowing red lights, not sure I'd want to send my teenager there for lessons. read more

Very challenging business to communicate with. They have no online platform for scheduling drive time and basically just tell you when your child will drive. Parents work, have other children. and have lives. Not allowing parents to schedule dates and times that work for them is ridiculous. The owner acts bothered and irritated when trying to schedule drive time. It was such a hassle. No one answers the phone and if you go in they get upset if their teaching class. Perhaps more employees need to be hired or enroll less students? The in class instruction was fine, it was the drive time that was made to be harder than it needs to be. read more

Their communication is awful. You can call and get someone rude on the phone. You can text and get "I'll update the invoice " with no return anything. You can show up and the door is always locked with no one there but apparently the guy on the phone states "someone is always there 12 hours a day". Please don't waste your time or your money just like we did! read more

I loved taking their classes! Mr. Jose is really funny and Mrs. Lisa is really nice! They're really supportive and helpful if you take their drivers Ed class! Drive time is a pain to schedule but when you do schedule it you're never disappointed! read more

Avoid this place like the plague they will take your money and if you have to reschedule they are impossible to get a hold of but when they need to reschedule they can care less about your time.... I should have look at these reviews before using these awful people. If I could give less than a one star I would. I contacted them repeatedly to schedule drive times & they would text back saying they would call to reschedule at a certain time though no one ever did. Jose told my son he would meet him in front of the Sprouts across from Eldorado for their drive time yet wouldn't even drive through the parking lot to go get him & just left him there without drive time. When I called him to ask why he did this he told me driving through the parking lot had too much traffic. He was incredibly rude & seemed as if he was put out that he had to actually render services for the Drivers Ed I had paid for. He then finally regrouped and said he would reschedule that drive time for this week. I told him the time he mentioned may not work for my son & he said he would call my son. He didn't call my son so I texted several hours later asking if he was going to. His wife, Lisa, texted back saying that my son didn't answer & that I had already scheduled the make up session with Jose (neither of which were true) and finished the text with, "Are you ok?" (This condescension & unprofessionalism brought things to a whole other surreal level) There was no common decency. If I could go back I would never entrust my children to these two. Go anywhere but here. Don't put your kids through what my son is going through. What a disturbing experience. read more

Absolutely would recommend! My daughter just completed the online classes and has received her driver's permit. It went so quickly and was a smooth process. All she needs to do is complete her required driving hours to earn a driver's license, but we'll take our time with that! Reach out to Duke City Driver's Ed! These guys were okay until we had to cancel and reschedule my daughter's drive time. They are next to impossible to get a hold of. They rarely answer the phone and if you text them they tell you to call. We left several unanswered messages. Finally, after many attempts we got ahold of the owner Jose who promptly yelled at my wife over the phone because we wanted to schedule a drive time. He was extremely hostile and unprofessional. He told us they had 300 drivers to drive and only a couple cars. We were told we would have to wait over 2 months to get another appointment. Perhaps they should add a couple cars and maybe another instructor or two if they are going to have that many students. Either way my daughter had friends that went to other schools around town and found them to be much more accommodating. I would steer clear of these guys (pun intended). read more

Communication with this company is extremely difficult. Calling the number listed for the school takes you to a phone that is rarely answered. I read other reviews who commented the same thing but thought those might be isolated experiences. Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm. I spoke with other parents who have recently completed the course and they have all had very similar experiences. read more

Super nice owners, very helpful during whole process of getting my license, even though I didn't take the Drivers Ed class with them, they explained every detail. If you are friendly and respectful towards them they will reciprocate and make the whole process much easier. read more

These people are very nice and helpful. When I realized that my child wouldn't be able to make it to his drive appointment, I just called and they were a) incredibly happy that I called to cancel (instead of just not showing up) and b), they didn't charge me the no-show fee. We capitalized on the Spring Break deal where my son took care of all of his classroom work in that one week. So glad they offered that deal instead of having to drag it out over months and months. I would not go anywhere else. My son completed his online course with them and received his permit. They would accommodate my schedule and if we need to cancel my son had a reschedule time right away. Jose is super respectful and so patient with my son. Lisa was so great when I needed more information or had any questions. They are super affordable and great company. We were promised that driving lessons will not be a issue and in last 3 months my daughter did only two classes in Albuquerque therefore I opened the chargeback to get my money back. I would absolutely recommend Duke City Driver Education. The level of service and professionalism they have demonstrated during this crazy COVID season has been phenomenal. They have adjusted beautifully to all the ripple effects of COVID and have maintained a level of service and education that we have greatly appreciated. They work with students' schedules and crazy life demands in every aspect of the learning process. They are involved in the community and give back to the youth of New Mexico. My daughter has a level of confidence in her new found driving skills and I attribute a lot of that to this driving school. I am glad we found Duke City Driver Education! read more

First of all if this deserves a 100 stars. Lisa Hurtado the co-owner (her husband Mr.Jose is the other owner) built a schedule around my crazy film shoot hours so I could get the hours in I needed for my NYC drivers license. I wanted to drive 10-12 hours a week and they made it happen. Back and forth to work, amazing, picturesque long excursions to Breath taking sights. They are both walking encyclopedias and know so much about the land and its history. Meanwhile, drilling me to hold my lane on mountainous curves to "sacred lands" and Seeing very far ahead of me to make lane changing decisions on the highway. Lisa made sure I understood everything! She made signaling a habit. She made me change lanes on the highway continually, until it felt second nature. She told me, "You will pass the New York City Drivers test. And within 2 months of getting my permit and not knowing how to drive, I passed. I told her, I don't just want to pass. I want to be safe enough to drive my son. Teach me that. When I'm driving on the highway, I always hear Lisa's voice - change to the middle lane, an accident on the shoulder. Take your foot off the gas on the curve, get out of his blind spot, maintain your lane. You see Lisa, you're still always keeping me focused! If you're in New Mexico and don't drive - run to these lovely, caring, hardworking and detailed oriented people. They don't just want you to pass the driving test. Lisa accomplished what I thought was an impossible mission: she made me confident enough to make me drive in the US, and this short after I had first moved to this country from Europe. As a background information: I had a European license but have hardly ever made any use of it and was terrified at the thought of driving on streets with multiple lanes and with slightly different traffic rules. Lisa made driving look easy and never tired of repeating instructions. She was also flexible in adjusting our driving schedule around my own and managed to chat while never loosing sight of whatever was going on on the streets. I have not taken any theory class with her, but certainly the driving lessons were something I can vouch for. read more

Duke City was the best driving school for my son. As a student athlete Duke City Driver Education was extremely flexible with his schedule. They made it so easy for us sending texts and reminders of classes he needed. They were in constant contact with us to make sure he was on track to finish his classes. read more
