Classic style English pub. Snagged a sort of snug alongside the main bar. (It was a booth but was super private.) Organic English beers and ales. Staff wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful - service was perfect. We did not eat here but I would definitely recommend drinking here. read more

Nice enough, very touristy as expected for the area, price included. Staff is on it and affable at least, but very shark like in execution.

I do not recommend eating the food here. The bar looked nice at a glance but we ate upstairs in the dining area. The area is semi small and has a small bar to order drinks from. The drinks in the dining room are good and you can watch them be made. You sit yourself and look at a menu that you grab by the bar, then you go order at the lonely bartender doing everything by herself. The food is very mid and easily passed over. We ordered two burgers and both were wrong with different problems. Then when they were sent back and corrected they were almost inedible as the buns themselves were better than everything else on the plate. They chips were okay with some ketchup, and the best thing we ate was the starter of garlic cheese bread. In review I would not recommend eating at the dining room but instead trying the downstairs pub instead. As all the other reviews praise that part of the experience. read more

This is a good old style British boozer. A quintessential English pub as imagined by people from abroad Josy A brought the Yelp ramen group here tonight after our meal at Mitsukoshi for a quick drink and also to say hi to one of her friends who was celebrating his brithday Old decor was happily matched by old (low) prices. It proved a nice venue for our small group of Yelpers to imbibe, chatter and compare Yelp check in badges for an hour before heading home. This pub was bustling with activity when I went w/a small group of friends on a Friday night. They had a fair range of Sam Smith beers on tap and a variety of McCoy's crisps to munch on. It's not the biggest pub around so seating can be limited on a busy weekend night. As always, you can always have some obnoxious drunk sitting next to you but who hasn't been one of those at least once in their lives? The highlight of this pub were the bartenders. The one or two bartenders who served me were very nice and made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. read more

Good work Duke of Argyll. This pub is located in an area that is chock-a-block with good places to drink. We wandered in (mainly because it was opposite the fantastic Epoc Karaoke) and I wanted to wait for my other half to get out of work. * It's Sammy smiths, so cheap as chips * The staff were friendly * The lads drinking in there were friendly and chatty ...we stepped in for a quick drink around 9pm, and it was nearly 1am by the time we wandered off to find Chinese food... This is definitely a good pub to check out if you are in the area and in the mood for a pint or looking for a place to meet up with friends. There is plenty of seating and the atmosphere was quite laid back when we were there. As far as London goes, the prices are quite reasonable, especially considering that it is in the middle of a touristy area. I would definitely go back to this pub. read more

The Duke of Argyll is a Samuel Smith pub smack dab in the middle of Soho. As Josy A says, it's cheap as chips! And I mean proper cheap with a double vodka soda being a few pennies shy of a fiver and pints to be have for less than £3. Now that's a brilliant value proposition. It's not a massive space but with a handful of booths and tables and enough standing room for 20-30 people it's large enough. It feels quite cosy and provides and excellent respite from the cold weather. The bar staff are efficient and make it a point to welcome you in and trade a bit of banter while they fill your order. It's a much better experience than the sullen ones who try to pull pints as fast as possible resulting in a beer that's mostly foam and little substance. They have some pretty standard cheap pub grub on offer but I can't comment as we'd just finished stuffing ourselves with ramen. Still, if you are looking for a place to start a night out, the D of A ticks all the right boxes. Line your stomach, down a couple of drinks, and you're off! read more

Delightful corner pub in the heart of Soho. Perfect to escape the rain, get cozy, warm up a it, and HAVE A BEER of course. Managed to get a seat just when we got in. Place was almost packed on a Sat at 4pm (beer o'clock?). We tried so many different beers, light, amber, white and all were very good, not too pricey for the place. Plus we were seating nearby the windows to look at life in the street. Great time for a group of 6 that we were, easy and comforting. Plates coming in looked incredible, 30cm tall burgers, footlong fish and chips, all of those made me want to go back and try some. Recommend it to anyone in the area, plus the light bulbs inside made me think of those all brasserie in Belgium. Very nice. read more

This is my go-to pub in Soho. It's a bit small, but it has great charm and everyone seems to be in a good mood. I've had a few lovely conversations with other people when you have share a drinks table. It's a Sam Smiths pub so all the beers are vegan- and if you don't care about that, then care about the APRICOT BEER YUMYUMYUM or the STRAWBERRY BEER OMYUMYUM which usually trumps the organic lager on tap for me because I'm a "girl drink drunk". And as mentioned before, the drinks are really affordable. What's not to love!? read more

Sam Smith can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. This is a small pub (I expected a hidden staircase around the corner but it was just a booth) and a bit more normal (less quirky) than the others. Also, rather close to the related and much more quirky (charming) John Snow, just down the street. However, if I'm ever in dire need for a libation and unable to make it the short distance to the John Snow, I will happily stop in at the Duke of Argyll for a cheap pint and a good time. read more

Solid pub in Soho. This is not a public house, so they only serve samuel smith's beer...not that there is anything wrong with that. The beer is good, the staff are friendly and the pints are cheap. They have a nice range of styles depending on your mood. There is a lot of seating around, but as with most pubs, you'll find 75% of the patrons outside in front, smoking, chatting and people watching. read more

On the corner of Great Windmill St and close to the Glasshouse Stores (another Sam Smiths's pub). Pleasant enough decor and typical Sam Smith's ale and food. Staff are pleasant enough (often Southern hemisphere in origin). Decent no nonsense Sam Smith's place, but maybe a little blander than some other Sam Smiths establishments in London. read more

This pub is well located in Soho. It's easy to find and the drinks are good. They are well priced. They do serve food but I haven't eaten here. This was the only place on a Friday night that wasn't too loud, too packed and had some seats. It was surprising but I loved it. You can actually have a quiet drink and catch up without having the typical Friday night crowd lol read more

On Sunday evening the 3rd of March I ordered the cheese melt burger and it arrived with no cheese and was burnt and dry. I politely asked for the burger to be returned to the kitchen which the staff member agreed to do as he agreed no cheese had been added and the food was substandard. I was then met with an aggressive and arrogant manager or chef (not sure who or what he was as he didn't even introduce himself) who then accused me of lying about the lack of cheese, despite the fact it had been returned by a member of staff. May sound trivial but a cheese melt priced at £10.45 that arrives burnt and dry with no cheese will lead to a request of it being returned. Upset at being spoken to in such a way i then asked for a refund as I wished to leave the premises but was then refused a refund or replacement burger. He then continued to argue until a customer sitting next to me turned and told him to stop 'bullying his customers'. Rotten evening, rotten service and rotten food, you have been warned. Went there again and YAY, they finished their renovation! The place is beautiful and clean. The Samuel Smiths variety is large and for this part of town, great prices. If you can snag one of the little nooks for your group, then great. Even the bathrooms are clean and updated. read more

On my first visit to London I was searching for that quintessential cozy pub with good cider and comfort food, and just our luck we stumbled into this place, literally, to get out of the rain. It was around 3 in the afternoon and we were the only ones in the place! Had a couple ciders, some amazing vegetarian pot pie, and sat in a cozy booth watching the rain outside. Lovely. read more
