The sales experience was fantastic. Josh understood what we wanted and was really helpful down to helping us with color matches. Scheduling and permits was professional and effortless. Install was another story. 2 shaggy guys, one wearing a rope as a belt came to do the install. First thing out of the bag was, "Let me sell you an extended warranty" Really? $2,000. garage doors and I need a warranty? What am i paying for again? Work was sloppy and we had to watch them, make them fix their snotty work. They left their trash. These guys forgot a handle for my door. No, problem. The tech who came out to install the handle/lock over drilled the holes. Brand new hurricane door with 2 holes above and below the handle. I was told they would come back yet again and replace this panel. But after the hours dealing with the install crew, we declined and did a suitable repair ourselves. Upon informing DGD, we did the repair to the over drilled door, I requested they DO SOMETHING to make this right. 2 weeks later, and NOTHING. DGD, how you do anything is how you do everything. Dukes Garage Doors (formerly Discount Garage Doors) is a great business to do with. Their technician, Matt, was personable and very competent. Go with anybody but them. Absolute idiots for installers. I had them out to repair the horrendous install and they only made things worse. See photos. The opener box itself is hanging 2 inches lower then where it's mounted on the wall, so it looks like it's rolling down hill. The tracking isn't even mounted straight. It also runs downhill. Supposed to have the longest warranty of anybody else but they won't warranty their work. My door is literally pulling out from the wall and under so much tension I'm afraid it's going to hurt me or ruin my car. They offered to schedule an installer to come repair again at my cost. I said no thanks. If you weren't able to fix it in three visits, I doubt your competent enough to fix it in a fourth. read more

I called to schedule an appointment to have a garage door opener belt replaced, giving them all the details, including that I also have a retractable garage screen door to work around. On the day of the appointment, they called and said they wouldn't be able to keep the appointment, and postponed me for THREE days. When the technician showed up (finally), he said he couldn't work on my garage door opener because of the screen door, even though the screen door did not need service. And this is after I submitted all the details when making the appointment. read more

Bought a screen door about 18 months ago!! Business will not honor their warranty over both the part and the service. I found out they have new owners 4 months ago and their service has hit the toilet. Call the manufacturer who produced the part and it's under warranty but they dropped DGD about 3 months ago because of their customer service. read more

Bought roll up screen door from them April 2019. In Dec 2023 having problems gave dgd a call.Was told It's out of warranty and no longer carry that brand.We can come out for a service charge but no guarantee we can fix it Think twice before you buy from them. read more

OK, their fees are a bit high, but... They are available later during the day and on-call up until 9pm. Really helpful if you are kind of stuck with a garage door that isn't working. The service guy that came out to help me was able to fix the problem in about half an hour. He was also very helpful in explaining what he was doing, how things worked with the door, and what I should be doing to maintain the door in the future. These were things that simply do not get explained to anyone anymore, so it was very useful to hear them. Garage doors are not something to take lightly. The springs involved with these doors are dangerous, and not something that you should be working on yourself without someone who has experience around. read more

Don't believe the term 'discount' in the name ..... not even close....tech was on premise for a total of 16 minutes...determined that sensors needed to be replaced...original install is just two years old and it's the golf cart door and if you know my golf game, the door doesn't get used too much! But, company POLICY is minimum 1 hour service charge @ $115/hour!!!! The new sensor cost $198...the component box was so small a dollar bill could be wrapped around it 3 times .... maybe DGD are former government vendors that sold the Air Force the $3,000 toilet seats...open and shut case to never, ever call DGD again.... read more

Stopped in to get a budget number on three large garage doors for a project. The woman working there looked at me as if I had horn growing out of my face. She said they can't quote any numbers until the structure is up. Not sure why that matters but the structure is now ready for doors so I out the online " free estimate " form and never heard a word. My garage door opener was making noise. I called DGD they we're coming out between nine and eleven. The guy came at 11:30 and said this is a simple fix your missing a bolt. I told him I found one on the floor last week and showed it to him. He said that's it, took my bolt and put it in. He charged me $70.00 which I felt was way too much. A few days ago, we had a garage door spring snap and called discount garage door to come out and replace the broken spring. the Customer service rep told us the charge would be $235.00 for two spring (had to replace both) and the service call. When the service tech came to the house, he fixed both springs and handed us a bill for $345.00 which is $110.00 MORE than the estimate. That is a 46% OVERCHARGE. This an OUTRAGE! AN OVERCHARGE I CAN LITTLE AFFORD. This really upset me and will NEVER use Discount garage door again and i strongly discourage ANYONE fro calling them for anything. read more

This was an unfortunate service call to our new home in The Villages, FL. We called the company for a basic tune up because the house is 8 years old. When the service technician arrived he quoted $789.00. The main reason is it was sticking at the bottom when closing so we wanted new stripping across both doors. My husband came back in asking for Vaseline and a rag. The tech wiped down with the Vaseline and it was perfect. He told us we needed all new rollers (20) 10 for each door for $390-. We said no only replace the absolutely necessary rollers and it worked out to be 10 rollers for $195- with a 1 year warranty. At Amazon a set of 10 rollers is $18.29 with a 4 year warranty which is a 1,000% mark up. That is bordering on criminal anywhere but especially here in a retirement community where many pay these charges even if they can't afford it. The technician then sold us a heavy steel reinforcement bar to help with load of the weight of the door. That 12" bar was $108-, which you can buy at Amazon or Home Depot for about $20-$25 and took approximately 3 minutes to install. The technician was here for 45 minutes and added on a $115- labor charge. He had to come back the next day to correct one of the doors which wasn't closing properly. We have owned 14 homes and always call for a garage tune up when we first move in, and have never experienced anything like this at these costs. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I would actually discourage using Discount Garage Doors, Inc. After much negotiation we ended up paying $636-, and we are not happy with their service or over pricing. read more

DGD was the second estimate I received. Pretty close to the first estimate. I chose DGD because the other companies customer service was horrible and DGD would accommodate my work schedule. I needed one spring replaced but the technician suggested that I should replace both. Then it was suggested that I replace two bearing plates which I did. It was also suggested that I replace the both bearings but could only afford to replace one. One hour of work=$115.00. Total job price with labor = $521.02. The technician tried to sell me a "package" for 696.00. I agreed if a payment plan was available which it wasn't. The technician Aleck was great and did his job well. He DESERVES 5 STARS. read more

This company comes out quickly, but they charge a lot 1 hr labor 115.00 and for changing the tension rod they charge me 718.70 dollars and 7% tax 50.29 total of 768.79. If you don't have money find a company thats cheaper. Also he did the work in 30 minutes. i research on the internet and there are companies that are cheaper. read more

My partner accidentally backed into our garage door this morning, rendering it useless. Wouldn't go up or down. Called these folks - they came out within 90 minutes and gave us a fair and reasonable quote. As our garage door is a custom size, they couldn't install a new one - but they went the extra mile to ensure that they got it back on its tracks and secured it so that we could still use it manually as needed. Excellent service, professional staff, and competent individuals. I'd use them again in a heartbeat. read more

I was charged $145 for a capacitor that actually cost $17 on line. The $17 on line capacitor has a warantee of 5 years. DGD's warantee is 1 year. So the quality is better than for the $17 capacitor. After they left I looked at the capacitor and it has dust all over it so it had to be a used capacitor. They fixed the problem but I was definitely hosed by DGD. read more

I called Discount Garage on a Monday to schedule a service tune up and to replace my weather strip, I was given a time frame of 1-4 on that Saturday, come Friday I received a call stating that I have to change my timeframe from 12-3 and that the tech will be there at 12 because they must be off at a certain time, I said ok I will get up and run my errands in town be back by 12 . Well here comes Saturday and I get a call at 11:14 am stating that the tech is having trouble with his truck and has to be pulled off for the rest of the day and we haven NO ONE able to come out so we can TRY for next Tuesday . I think that this is and was the worse customer service let alone how inconsiderate this company is regarding customers time and appointments that they have set twice. read more

I wanted to leave a note about Discount Garage Door (DGD). I had used them for some work when my garage door spring broke, and my initial thought was positive. However, after some time I realized how poor the workmanship was and how much I was gouged! I initially called DGD when the spring on my door snapped. Tyler came out and told me I needed several new parts in addition to the spring and quoted me $850 for all the parts and labor. It seemed pricey but came with a "lifetime" warranty on parts. I needed it working so my family could get the cars out. I agreed and he quickly did the work. Within 2 weeks my door opener would no longer close the door so I again called DGD and Tyler showed up. He stated the opener was old and needed to be replaced. I spoke with him about the coincidence of no longer working after he replaced the spring and several other parts. He stated it was just it's time. He tried to push one of DGD's openers on me but I purchased one from Home Depot (military discount to save some money) and he installed it. Approximately $550 later (opener and labor) my door was working again. I thought I was good.... Unfortunately, I was sorely mistaken. Within 2 weeks of the installation my door began to bend inward like a "V" and slam shut. My garage door cracked and split. It was bending inward looking like it was ready to snap in half. At this point I'm seriously upset. I call DGD about the issue and Tyler calls me back. He now says I need a new garage door. "Are you friggin kidding me!" But of course he offered me a door at a good price $1300 -1500. The cheapest they had...WOW!! I couldn't believe it. He had never said I needed a new door but suddenly that was the problem. I called local company. No way in hell I was letting this national, money sucking, cheap company near my home again. Lesters Garage Doors came out quickly. The gentlemen quickly noted the entire rail system needed to be cleaned out (DGD didn't do it) for smoother running; the rollers and other areas needed lubricant (DGD didn't do it) so it would roll smooth and quiet; they noticed the rail system needed to be adjusted as the angle for the opener was off (DGD didn't do it); the spring (the brand new spring) tension was not set right for the size and weight of the door (DGD didn't do it) and was hampering the door function; the opener itself was about to fall out of the ceiling as the bolts were never tightened (DGD installed); and finally the garage openers tension wasn't adjusted properly for the door (DGD didn't do it)!!! As you can see several things missed. They also told me if my previous opener was working (and it was) that it probably was just fine had the spring tension been set right and other issues been tended too. In the end I spent over $1300 working with DGD and $80 with Lester's garage door. My door will still need to be replaced in the near future due to the damage caused from DGD/Tyler's incorrect installation, but I can use it for now. I know some will read this and think I'm complaining, embellishing, or state they had a good experience. Some people just need to learn on their own. However, I can tell you I rarely post on FB. I'm only writing this because I'm hoping I can save someone from the problems and money I had with DGD. There are better, local companies to use if you have a problem. Don't waste time and money going with these people. Use a local company. Someone who lives here, and has worked here for years building a strong reputation. DGD only cares about $ and clearly doesn't have the knowledge or experience to do the job right. If this post saves one person from the misery I faced with DGD then the time spent to write it is well worth it. If I could give minus stars indefinitely would!!!! read more

On September 12, I called Discount Garage Inc. that services homes in Gainesville, FL to repair a manual garage door that had come off the hinges. The technician said one spring had broken, but we should replace the other spring as well and put in new cables for an increased price. He convinced me to pay $300 by check. After three months, the garage door came off its hinges again. I called the office and I was scheduled for the same day, from 2 - 5 p.m. After 5 p.m. had passed, I kept calling the office to ascertain the time when the technician would appear. He finally showed up at 7:30 p.m., in the dark. The technician made a quick diagnosis of the problem (in the dark), saying that now the garage door needs new pulleys and rollers for an additional cost of another $300. Being disappointed by his assessment while working in the dark, I called the office the next morning and was told that they will come back to the house during daylight hours for a $75 service fee. I found this company to be unreliable and totally unreasonable. read more
