Get these in bulk and get a good deal on a bag of it. There's spicy, sweet, and other bold flavors to grab from these. Candy is the main attraction. It has lots of authentic Mexican flavors on the bins and on shelves. The little pieces of candy are sold in bulk so you can fill up a bag with all this. Get some bigger pieces of candy such as the green, white, and red coconut bars. There's also those guava and mango burritos that are hot. Find lots of good things to have a fiesta. They also have pinatas and other Mexican party trinkets like candles, papel picado, and toys. It's mentioned in older reviews that they take credit card, but when I've got they've told me cash only. One of our stops on the Pilson Neighborhood Tour and it was pretty cool. Saw some old school candies that I had not seen since the early 90's. Along with the old stuff, they had the current favorites. I thought it was funny they sold hot sauce in this place. The one disappointment I had was that they did not have Boston Baked Beans. I have to admit, I am not a big candy guy, but it sure was great to check this place out and bring back those old childhood memories. read more

We walked into this store because I wanted some candy and they have plenty of them, from piñatas, clothing, and individual candy as well as boxes of them. I got a few things and also wanted a piñata but I wanted it without the happy birthday sticker on it. And without asking the lady at the counter grabbed one of the piñatas she had, grabbed a glue gun and added some pieces of paper to make it look round and so you wouldn't see the sticker that said happy birthday and she asked me, how about this one ? I really liked what she did; it was above and beyond what I expected, so I bought two instead. I definitely will go back and get more candy and probably some other things. "It was a windy afternoon...2009...big city...jeez, it's been 20 years...candy! You were so fine. Beautiful, beautiful store on the south (side)...you burned my heart and you filled up my mouth...I had a dream...that no one else could see (except the other people on the Pilsen tour)...you gave me sweets...for free (I wish)!" Alright, that's enough of that. :) Seriously though, I have honestly (mostly) been waiting the entire time I've been on Yelp to parody lines from Iggy Pop's "Candy." And what better place to do this than one of the best candy stores I have ever seen? Especially one that still stocks candy from 20 years ago. Not the actual candy itself (though I don't put this past some candy stores since hard candy and cockroaches are the only things that will survive a nuclear war), just the brands. It doesn't take much for a candy store to stock Lemonheads. But Duceria Lupitas also carries Cherryheads (which used to be known as the somewhat offensive Cherry Chans) and, my personal favorites Grapeheads (formerly Alexander The Grape). And it even stocks harder to find modern candies like peanut butter Twix. But being in Pilsen and catering to that neighborhood's audience, Lupitas goes beyond just that silly gringo candy. Authentic chicle! Candies with spices in them! Dulces of all stripes! Tamarind roll-ups! And even animalitos (well these were exactly the same as any other animal crackers, but I loved the packaging)! And a full selection of pinatas for all your party needs. If your party needs a pinata (and what party doesn't, really?). It's such a throwback that I felt like a kid in a candy store all over again (or at least transported back to 1990, hence the song quote). Except an overgrown kid with cash is a dangerous thing. I wondered in while in Pilsen on a quest for Mexican candy and was not disappointed! The lady working the cashier was so kinda and helpful, loved her energy. Sweet! and I don't mean like "Dude, that's sweet" but this place is actually full of sweet goodness. Walked out of here with candy I can't even pronounce but i'm confident I will love it. Why? oh, how little you know me. Because it's candy silly. This place also had a few throwback favorites from my childhood like now and laters, lemon heads and cherry heads. I am also digging the big ziplock baggie O'spicy peanuts. This is where you can get some goodies to pack your party pinata, fill the candy bowl at work or if you're like me enjoy while doing absolutely nothing. Excited that they reopened across the street! Pinatas here are so much better than the cheap small ones on Amazon or Target. Great prices and great selection of candy. Ain't no party like a pinata party! Seriously, it's like pinata dream store. All sorts of sizes, colors and characters. You can even custom order one to fit your party theme. Oh, and they sell candy too. Like a candy super store to fill all those hungry pinatas! All this in one stop authentically Mexican party shop! Never been to Mexico but this is what I expect the local general store to look and feel like. I came in here two days before Easter and they hooked it up with a custom pinata in less than 48 hours. I went in here thinking I might pick up some Mexican candy to hand out to Trick-or-Treaters, and only managed to buy myself $7 worth of sweets - an impressive feat when this store is still legitimately selling candies for 25 cents. If you can still get ANYTHING else for a quarter, lemme know. Right off the bat, I noticed all of the brightly colored pinatas, including a "Boo" ghost one from Super Mario - way cool! There were lots of sugar skulls out for the upcoming Day of the Dead, and, oh SNAP, are those, YESSSSS, marshmallow ice cream cones!! I totally forgot those even existed, snatched up a bag and did an inner happy dance. Continuing to wander around, I added some coconut candies, peanut brittles, old school Lemon and Cherry Heads, and a guava roll, because that sounded tasty, why not. Things that did not sound so tasty: tamarind hard candies, mango & chili lollipops, and a few other things that are just not flavors I grew up with, but maybe you can appreciate them more than I. If you're looking for the standard Reese's/Mars/Nestle-type candies, you are terribly lost, but no matter what I don't think you'll be disappointed! read more

I am a regular at Dulceria Lupitas for over 5 years. The candy is inexpensive, you can get a bunch of candies for about $1-$5. I buy the single lollipops and combine them with different ones. I like that they have spicy candy to satiate my palate. The lady and men are really nice and friendly people! I would definitely recommend this place if you want a variety of Mexican candy and treats (they have candy bags for parties as well). I just tried the gummy pineapple candy with chilly, and it was amazing! I'll definitely keep visiting this place! read more
