Today on Christmas Day, when almost all the stores on Michigan Avenue were closed, It'Sugar was surprisingly open. It felt nice to find a colorful and lively place while everything else around was quiet. The store had a cheerful holiday vibe with bright lights and shelves full of candies, chocolates, and fun treats. There were some really good deals going on, with many items on 50% and even 75% discount, which made it a great time to shop. You could find a mix of classic candies, chocolates, and fun novelty items at reasonable prices. Even though it was Christmas, the store was not very busy, so it was easy to walk around, browse comfortably, and take your time choosing items. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere was fun and relaxed. I spent about $14 on cherry sours from this location and was very disappointed. The candy was marketed as sour, but in my opinion it wasn't sour at all, (also, had the validation of 3 other people), I returned the next day, (today), hoping to exchange it for a different candy or receive store credit for the unused portion. The store manager told me he couldn't offer either and said it would require approval from a general manager. What frustrated me most wasn't being denied a refund, it was the lack of effort to help find a solution. No exchange, no store credit, and no attempt to escalate the issue. I left feeling like my concerns weren't taken seriously as a customer. I understand stores have policies regarding food items, but better customer service and a willingness to address product concerns would have gone a long way. read more

I unfortunately have a serious sweet tooth lol and of course I passed by It's Sugar. They have tons and tons of variety of products. From ole school candy to new versions of candy brands. You can pick your candy, put your choices into a plastic bag to be weighed and purchased. It was pretty quiet and I saw a few store employees. I will admit, their prices are a bit high, but it is North Michigan and a candy store with a lot of collectibles lol. This was my first time visiting an It'Sugar and I've since learned there are a lot of them. For a first visit I was pretty impressed, it's like a modern candy store complete with old school options, current favorites and novelties. The way the store is organized is pretty welcoming and there's a mix of things you could get at normal stores as well as unique items and merchandise. If you're obsessed with a certain brand there's a good chance you can find it here and even get a shirt, sweatshirt or other items to show off your love. I don't think you'll be finding many deals here, but considering this is a one stop shop for most of your candy wants items a good trade off. We didn't interact with the staff too much, but they did welcome us and thank us for coming in as we left. The items I would potentially come back for are the novelty items, bulk candy or interesting products like candy flavored soda. read more

Who knew that the old Disney store would turn into a big candy store. It's a nice find on Michigan Avenue not cheap but so many candy selections. People seem to be friendly. This might have been my first time in an IT'SUGAR store - Full disclosure, I'm an editor in the candy industry for my full-time job and we've written about them before, but I've never been in the store, unless possibly the Vegas store once. I was browsing Michigan Ave and saw their store sign and knew I definitely had to stop in to peruse. They have all sorts of cool stuff in here and I recognized a lot of brands that I've written about before. I was actually in town for a candy conference so I knew not to buy too much because I usually go home with a ton of samples, but I did buy some bubble tea mochi, which I'm curious to try, and I ended up coming back to this store a few days later with my boss and I bought a cute chocolate bar for my boyfriend, it said something like "I love you as much as chocolate" on it. They even have brand merchandise you can buy, like shoes, t-shirts, etc. They have a fun selection of magnets and other gift type items as well. The only reason it gets four stars for me and not five is that the prices are a little high, not sure if that's par for the brand or just for Chicago. read more

I wish I could put 0 stars but I have to put something. I am inquiring about a complaint as me and 7 other people arrived at your Chicago location on Michigan Avenue at 8:40pm. The store website along with the paper on the store are posted for 9pm closing time. We got 3 employees attention along with a security officer who continuously noticed and ignored us. As a customer I am insanely disappointed in your customer service and employee staff. They laughed constantly for 20 minutes as we tried to enter the store because you were legally STILL open. I will be leaving a really poor review along with 6 other people to ensure all future customers do not shop at this store. It is utterly embarassing and I will never be returning to this location. I will make sure a majority of future customers will not be shopping with you. As you lost revenue for 20 minutes you continued to pay employees who sat around on the clock not selling and ensuring proper business. I am wanting to know what you can do to make this right as this is a horrible way to run a business. read more

It'Sugar reminds me of a theme park. I can imagine myself as a child I walking around with my friends and family to look at the colorful candies and toys. I describe It'Sugar as a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Mascot statues, toys filled with candies and candy related merchandises - t-shirts, and stuffed toys decorate the sales floor. Customers can walk to any candy station and fill the plastics bags near the candies. At the left corner, a tv monitor shows commercials about It'Sugar. The vibe in this place feels relaxed and not hurried. Even though it looks like a Sweet Tooth's paradise, be warned: It'Sugar can be pretty expensive. A little bag of Swedish Fish, Bazooka or Tootsie Rolls can easily cost close to $10.00. For the multitude of candies look so tempting. The large Coca-Cola money jar costs $19.00. Come to It'Sugar. Such a bright and fun store. It reminds me of the old FAO Schweetz that used to be in Watertower Place. They have something here for everyone. Candy, yes, but also non-food items like socks, shirts, pillows, and toys. It's a bit of a bummer that they don't have my favorite JellyBelly flavor Juicy Pear, but, I get that it's not the most popular flavor. The prices are high but kind of expected for the tourist trap location of Michigan Avenue. I do wish they had more "fill it up" container options. They offer bulk candy by weight, or you can pay a flat fee and fill a container. But they only have these small, cheap looking takeout containers. I'd love to see them take a page from Dylan's and get glass jars or bigger, nicer, more gift-like containers. read more

A wonderful candy store ... big outlet, loads of products, and very new to the area ... but it's a giant candy store. This place was a lot of fun no matter what candy you are looking for ... they have these in the neighborhoods (like at Fashion Outlet Mall by O'Hare Airport) and downtown Chicago (like on the Mag Mile) and many other places in between. We grabbed some root beer barrels and Chuckles when we visited the store. They have lots of selections, many of which are harder and harder to find these days ... so this might be your one stop shopping for candy. While they also sell stuff like cute T-shirts and stuffed toys, don't kid yourself as this is really a candy store. All together you can get a cute gift for someone, and a haul of your own sugar. Nice novelty store for those that enjoy CANDY! I would like to see more old school candy. There was a nice variety here & it was pretty costly(I guess due to location) I liked the appearance/presentation of the candy displays with the novelty clothing. We walked by the store yesterday night and we were immediately gravitated to all the bright colored candies inside the store. That's when I noticed the displays were covered in flies. Every display, including the mannequin had flies on them. ABSOLUTELY UNSANITARY to have 10-15+ flies all over the display INSIDE the store. read more

It's just a candy store where you can pick out candy. I liked that you could mix and match different candy and there's a great variety. The only part that was sad was the price. It was super expensive for only a few pieces of candy since it's by the pound but higher prices. The staff were helpful and attentive which was great though. read more

This is a fun store that's worth visiting once - it's a tourist trap to be sure - but that's it. There are lots of unique and whimsical products, both edible and not. Two main complaints are with 1) The selection is kind of weird. Most of the candy is sold in either huge quantities or through their mix match option, where you select candy from multiple binds and pay by weight. I tried the second option and while I was impressed with the number of choices available, most of the candy I tried simply wasn't that good.
