I wish this place had an easily accessible online menu, and I'm sure I would have already visited long ago. It took seeing their Caramel Latte hyped up on social media a few times to finally get me to stop in. I got a hot caramel latte ($6.25 small), and it was delicious. My husband got a matcha drink that he really enjoyed. We ordered too many sweet treats for breakfast, including a Burdick and Raspberry cookie ($5.50 each), Chocolate Croissant ($6.25), and an interesting passionfruit mousse dessert ($8.25). They have a good amount of seating inside. The employee who took our order was very helpful and insisted on packing up our leftovers himself at the end of our meal.

Okay... how have I never been to L.A. Burdick before?! This place is absolute chocolate heaven. The moment you walk in, you're hit with rows and rows of gorgeous chocolate--truffles, bars, pastries, drinks--literally everything looked dangerously tempting. OMFG. I grabbed their famous chocolate chip cookie, and wow... easily the best cookie in the entire city. No exaggeration. They warm it up for you, which already sets the mood, and then you bite in and it's just... perfection. Soft, gooey, rich, and the chocolate tastes high-quality in every single bite. I genuinely don't think I can go back to regular cookies after this. If you're a chocolate person--or even if you're not--this spot is a must. Absolute 10/10!

Ambiance - super cute cafe, quiet, great space to do some work Service - staff was super nice & drinks came out quickly Food - the signature Burdick dark hot chocolate had a semi-thick texture, super creamy, and temperature was spot on

Walked into L.A. Burdick on a chilly morning and it felt instantly cozy. The place has this classic, elegant vibe with wood accents and soft lighting, kind of like stepping into a little European cafe. And of course, that smell of chocolate in the air makes it even better. I ordered a hot dark chocolate and an almond croissant. The chocolate was super rich and thick, not your usual sweet drink, more bold, with that little bitter edge. Exactly what I was hoping for. The croissant was golden, flaky, with a nutty filling that wasn't too sweet. Dipped it in the chocolate and yeah... amazing combo. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Not really a rush-in, rush-out spot, it's the kind of place you actually want to sit and enjoy.

We missed going here when we were near, so I ordered a box for a Christmas gift. It has been well received. Everyday a new yummy chocolate is devoured. Overall, there are so many really great flavors. The mice were favorites. This was a really great box of chocolates. Would definitely order again.

L.A. Burdick's hot chocolate is pure indulgence and easily one of the best I've had. Rich, velvety, and deeply chocolate-forward, it feels more like melted luxury chocolate than a typical hot cocoa. Perfectly balanced--not overly sweet--and incredibly comforting, it's the kind of drink you savor slowly. The cozy, old-world café atmosphere only adds to the experience, making it a must-visit for chocolate lovers.

LA Burdick Chocolates is a great find in River North if you're looking for a relaxed place to meet friends without the pressure of a full sit-down restaurant. What really sets this spot apart is the atmosphere. It has a cozy, Parisian café feel that encourages you to slow down--warm, inviting, and ideal for long conversations. It's the kind of place where you can comfortably linger with a group and not feel rushed out, which is surprisingly hard to find in this area. We focused on their drinking chocolates and pastries, and both were solid. The drinking chocolate selection is impressive, with options like spiced dark chocolate, the Burdick signature, and mocha. You can customize each with dark, milk, or white chocolate, which is a nice touch. Among our group, the spiced dark chocolate was the clear favorite--rich, warming, and well balanced without being overly sweet. For food, we tried a few of their artisanal pastries, including the pecan croissant, the signature Burdick cookie, and the orange hazelnut pastry. The orange hazelnut stood out the most, offering a nice balance of citrus and nuttiness without feeling heavy. Everything felt thoughtfully made and paired well with the drinks. Overall, LA Burdick Chocolates works best as a casual hangout spot--perfect for catching up with friends, low-key meetups, or an easy coffee-and-dessert stop. If you're in River North and want a calm, European-style café experience centered around quality chocolate and pastries, this is a reliable choice.

I walked to the chocolate store while my friends were in the boutique store. This store is nice and fancy. I've heard of expensive chocolate and this is one of them. I walked around to check the different chocolate they offered, but ordered a coffee and waited for my friends to finish shopping. Nice size dining area and great for pictures.

This is a cute coffee shop with a lot to offer. There's a lot of seating and it's very well lit. Definitely recommend to get work done, catch up with a friend, or even go on a date. Service was quick but the employees looked a little burnt out. The hot chocolate was excellent. It was milky with great flavorful chocolate and not too sweet! Highly recommend going again. Also dog friendly!

Came for the spicy signature dark hot chocolate. Amazing. Literally just their dark hot chocolate, but toward the end they'll incorporate some chili. It gives the hot chocolate a bit of extra warmth, but it's not actually spicy at all. Added on The Burdick. Alternating cake layers and dark chocolate, topped with some kind of pistachio crumble. Deliciously dark. These two items can be purchased in their cafe area. The hot chocolate was prepped in a to-go cup rather than a mug. After paying you'll receive number and you can find a table to sit down at. It's pretty cozy. They'll bring out your order to you. We sat by a window and admired the courtyard, munching away at The Burdick and sipping hot chocolate. You can also browse their offerings near the front of the store. Their mice are cute. They also offer penguins too. But their mice are advertised on their number placards. After finishing up, I contemplated coming here again in the future. Just for their Spicy Dark Hot Chocolate. And possibly other items in their cafe display case. But afterwards, someday, might try their chocolate.

Stopped in and got a chocolate chip cookie and hot chocolates. We got milk and dark. The cups weren't labeled so we ended up sipping each others and the flavor difference is significant between the 2. The chocolate is rich, the milk is creamy, and drink is hot as advertised. The chocolate chip cookie was SO good. I'm not sure if it can be warmed up in store but I warmed it at home which was perfect. It has a crisp exterior, chewy interior, and the perfect amount of chocolate chunks. The interior is beautiful with a good amount of seating. It was pretty busy on a Friday night at 7 pm.

Service was good. We ordered 2 different hot chocolates - the spicy one was more bitter than spicy. The other hot chocolate was a good combination of bittersweet and i liked. Most folks were in there for the chocolates. So it was a bit busy. My only disappointment was their restroom downstairs felt neglected and not as clean. May be most people come here for chocolates and have no reason to use a restroom but it's always disappointing when place looks fancy on outside but not good standard of cleanliness on the inside.

Special place with delicious drinks. Tried both the spicy chocolate mocha and then a milk chocolate hot chocolate. Both rly delish but I loved the milk chocolate one the most! Very cute inside and even for being in a touristy area seems to have some regulars. We tried the cakes on 2nd visit - the mocha one was really good, coconut just ok. Prompt service! Pretty historic looking space as well.
