I wanted to find a dentist I can trust and consistently go to as I'm new to the area. My husband recommended Duluth Dental Center (his insurance changed and was sad to find another dentist). They took care of me in one day (x-ray, cleaning) and charged me $18 with my insurance for my whole visit. They took thorough x-rays and pointed out each tooth I should keep an eye on. Another dentist told me I grind my teeth (which was sus atm), but they told me doesn't look like I grind my teeth because only the front bottom looks a little flat which most likely my orthodontist shaved it down to make my teeth more straight. I took all the time to write this down not for vengeance, pettiness, or anything of a sort. It is for someone who wants an honest opinion. For anyone that has been to a dentist we all know the experience can be daunting and unpleasant. But we all expect to be treated for the treatment we are paying for. I found a dentist in Duluth, GA who had excellent Google reviews. Little did I know she gives incentives for positive reviews... They had asked me to take my review down originally as well. I went in for a crown since I had the root canal done by a specialist in Texas, but her zirconia crowns not only cracked once (before the glue even set in), but TWICE. The second crown was less than half a year old, but it was cracked, which meant that I needed a new one and insurance won't cover it since it is within the five year frame. I went for a consult somewhere else, and they were shocked at the job that was performed. So, I went to ask for my money back to get a crown with them. Her response was "It is office policy, we don't issue refunds, but I can put in a gold crown or a metal infused crown for you". She has a daughter my age and wouldn't want this for her own daughter, but it is okay for me because it is "business". I paid for zirconia, but she left me with the options of paying totally out of pocket elsewhere, or settle for metal infused (half the price of zirconia). I should have recorded the whole exchange... 06/08/2017 is the final update for this place. The staff is really understanding, but the dentist herself is someone I will never trust. Hence she made me sign a "Termination of Patient Relationship Agreement", as I was leaving today, but keep in mind, I had already found a new dentist and simply wanted a refund so I can go to the new dentist. But I settled for the metal crown because I don't have another $1500 lying around. In my visit two weeks ago she shaved what was left of the tooth down to the minimum, and stuck "grooves" into them, which left my gums sore for the next week. I asked her to put me on laughing gas because I was very uncomfortable being in her hands, but the dose was so high that I was getting light headed, felt tingles in my hands and feet, and they had to put me on oxygen. I went in today for the crown, she showed it to me very briefly, proceeded to shave down the crown in a separate room (shady right?), then came back to put it on. She gave me the feeling that some was definitely not right, but something tells me that she is afraid that I would sue her if she admits that she did something wrong. I have had two crowns before this (with my original dentist in Texas), and it was rather quick in and out. No poking and no prodding. When the crown came in, he would show me the crown, and cement it in, with little to no adjustments. I am praying that the tooth is okay, but if not, I hope that she can live with the horror she has put me through. read more

I went back to my regular dentist and just as I thought, I have no cavities. My normal dentist was shocked. Maybe it was just a weird day for them but that made me feel pretty bad. I even brought in my sheet from Duluth Dental Center so the other dentist could double check every single tooth they said had a cavity. Save your coins read more

I agree with most of the existing reviews. The support staff needs a lot work, and that's why I'm giving this place a 2. Almost everyone working there did not seem to care at all. The receptionist was indifferent, unhelpful, and pushy. The dental assistant, who took my x-ray, was blunt in her actions-she jammed a "butterfly" guard in my mouth repeatedly with consistent force despite my negative feedback. She was impatient, and didn't care about my comfort. The deep cleaning was okay. Not the best I've had. With the pricetag, I'd rather pay the same for better customer service elsewhere. Me and my kids love this place. Dr. Shifrin is great. I hadn't been to the dentist in 17 years. I had several cavities and a lot of apprehension but, so far I've had 11 filings and no pain. Dr. Shifrin is getting my teeth back to normal. Highly recommended!! Dental hygienist is awesome as well. Instructed me on how to brush to improve my gum health. The service is absolutely insane. I had to get my teeth looked at for pain, and they said everything was fine, but I needed a cleaning. I had been emailing and calling this dental office for 3 months trying to get an appointment, but every time I called they either had "no appointments" or said they would call back with appointment times. After a few months of trying, I called them asking for an appointment, and she was about to tell me to call back again when I called them out and said that unless they wanted me to find another dentist they needed to let me know if they had any before the end of the year. She made me an appointment. A week later, the day before my appointment, I get a random text saying my insurance didn't cover it (which they previously used). I called to ask what the text was about and the receptionist was rude and said she would "call back" again. She called back on a number from Kazakhstan, so I did not answer, but left an email saying my insurance wouldn't cover a cleaning. I wasted so much time trying to get a cleaning with them just for them to tell me last minute they couldn't do it. Very unprofessional and rude. Do not go here. read more

STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! The doctor is out to rip you off. I went in for a routine cleaning (which thankfully, was covered) the dental hygienist said everything looked great. Doctor came in looked at my teeth for 5 seconds and told me I needed fillings. I went to another family dentist whom my mom trusts and he said fillings were not necessary!! read more

I have been a patient of Dr Shifrins for over 5 years and I can't say enough great things about her office. Dr Shifrin is very knowledgeable and explains everything thoroughly. She does not rush and talks TO you, not AT you. The staff is friendly and now they are doing new patient tours and giving a welcome gift! The same lady has cleaned my teeth every time, so I feel really comfortable when I have my checkups and she asks about my family and stuff. read more

Dr. Shifrin is a great dentist. I have been a patient for many years and she has done a lot of work in my mouth. However, the office has conducted itself in highly unprofessional manner. My husband has very troubled teeth and I wanted him to go and get an estimate of everything that needs to be done so we can plan ahead and fix everything. He was scheduled for a deep cleaning, and another, and another... Never receiving a plan for fixing his teeth. The worst thing of all is that during every cleaning he was asked if he has/had a "habit" (as in meth), which he did not. This did not happen once, but all three times. This is highly discouraging to a person with bad teeth and the office has done us a disservice. Now we are searching for a new dentist, a dentist who will strive to do their job or would refuse us to our face if the job is too much! read more

Dr. Shifrin, was an amazing doctor. She really took her time and talked to me throughout the entire process of what she is doing. She wanted to do everything perfectly, which I really appreciate. The office was a little small and cramped, but it was clean. The machines looked fairly new. The only complaint I had was with one of Dr. Shifrins assistant. She didn't seem in the mood and looked very tired. The entire staff was pleasant except her. But this is just a minor detail that will not deter me from going back. Overall I give Dr. Shifrin a 4/5. She was very professional and nice. She knew exactly what she was doing and doing it perfectly. I will definitely go back. read more

I came to leave a review simply because I wanted to see if the reviews of others matched my experience, and sure enough they do. I visited this place once, and that was more than enough. First off, this was the first time I had a dentist to clean my teeth. I thought the hygienist normally does that. Anyway, it was by far the most painful cleaning I've ever had. She handled my mouth like she was cleaning a car battery or something. In addition, I was told that I basically had several cavities that needed filling. I was told that my old fillings were outdated and needed to all be replaced (they were fairly new fillings, so they definitely aren't outdated or the old silver kind). They handed me a quote and tried to schedule all of this work, but the red flags were bright. I left that office never to return again. Also, surprise, surprise, my new dentist doesn't see anything wrong with my current fillings and found only one cavity. Save yourself time and money. Look elsewhere. read more

Great dentist! She is very professional and does a great job. I am very uncomfortable with going to the dentist and have had to have a lot of work done this year. She has always made sure I felt okay and was very gentle and explained everything. She has made it much more bearable. Went in for a deep cleaning. Had initial quote for procedure. Asked Dr. that i needed to know if quote would be different for that visit and she said "Of course. I hate surprises also..." Welllll, i ended up paying $100 more. Not going again. Plus, they need to be cleaner in their office: dirty chairs/where your feet go, walls, etc. That should be a warning sign also. I am very dissatisfied with the crown work I had done at the Duluth Dental center. I was in terrible pain for a week afterwards because the dentist did not make sure the crown was seated correctly and when I went in to have it corrected she drilled the crown down till the silver composite was showing and no white enamel was left on the bottom of the tooth. WORST MEDICAL STAFF i have ever been to in my life! They were purposefully dishonest about the fees, and when I disputed them I was told I was being difficult and I should go to another dentist. The office staff is incompetent and enraging to deal with, especially the ogre of an office manager. Dr. Shifrin is just as rude as her staff, and is manipulative when it comes to dental fees. I told them four times I wanted a regular cleaning and when I checked out was charged for a deep cleaning. I failed to receive a refund and was treated like I did something wrong when I disputed the fees. Both times I went here the dental work was rushed and sloppy. They extracted an infected tooth without first treating the infection the week prior, which led to an even worst infection in my mouth. This place will just cause more dental problems for you, and you will get a headache trying to deal with Dr. Shifrin and her staff. read more

Dr. Shifrin is great, but the staff needs a lot of improvement. My wife and I had at least six appointments, in all of them they charged us more during the visit and refunded back later. We call them and ask for estimate or detailed bill, the answer is "will put on mail", but I never received any other mail other than the ads and the outdated bills. To make it all worse we asked for rescheduling an appointment, they charged us 100$. I think the office staff can be a lot nicer. read more
