Did not receive my food until 6:45 after all of the people that showed up after me had come and gone with their orders. No update the entire time. A restaurant must have an outstanding recommendation for patrons to travel over an hour to dine. This was the case here, and it did not disappoint. This restaurant has a very joyful and inviting place. Very high ceilings, the layout and the art on the walls immediately informs the patrons that this is a special place and messages that this restaurant is result of a lot of love and dedication. The staff is top notch, and extremely attentive. Patrons are never ignored and all of the staff are very helpful. The ambiance and the service alone doesn't matter alone, and food quality matters greatly. First is the freshly baked pida bread-sesame topping included- is enough to satisfy any appetite. Piping hot pida bread coupled with their Greek salad is enough to satisfy any appetite. But that is not all. They have the various types of humus, of course as well as other innovative dishes such as whipped goat cheese with fig preserves topping. But their Hunkar dishes are unique and not on any other Mediterranean restaurant in the metropolitan area or within the radius of several states. We tried the Hunkar with meatballs and chicken, and both are delicious. Of course there are many other appetizers, salads and dishes as well as tons of specialty pizzas that we did not have a chance to try. Absolutely delicious food, great service, and excellent attention to detail. Each dish was incredible and the ingredients are fresh. The whipped goat cheese with balsamic drizzle/ walnut/ fig and ciabatta, the cauliflower steak appetizer, and the lamb/beef gyro plate with eggplant and delicious pilaf side were all so flavorful. I read some of the reviews and I'd like to make a point that I would not go here for pizza. This seams totally like a Mediterranean type restaurant. I've been here so many times and had 5 star experiences every time. Overall, this past weekend experience was a big disappointment. They were very short staffed and very inexperienced staff at that. Appetizers were the best part and salads were the worst as they have gone cheap and now use iceberg lettuce on all their salads.- gross!! Anyone who orders salads as an entree recognizes this is crap lettuce. Service was simply awful, but that can be fixed with a little training. This is my wife and I's favorite pizza in the area. Great crust that is thin with a nice chew to it. We love the Pepperoni which has the addition of Caramelized Onions and Pepperoncini Peppers. Those additions really take the pizza to a next level. We also love the Prosciutto pizza. The goat cheese gives it a great tang. The whipped goat cheese appetizer is so good I went home and started figuring out how to recreate it. Also the roasted garlic app is so simple but so delicious. Honestly we have eaten a lot of their apps and small plates and have not been disappointed. Haven't tried any pastas, but I am sure they are good if based on everything else we have had! We have loved Duman for their pizzas since they first opened-- they were always unique and bit upscale compared to most pizza places. My husband and I visited there a couple of weeks ago and were very disappointed to find out that they completely changed their menu and had no pizza. The new menu offers Greek/Mediterranean cuisine, which we love, so we gave it a try. Wow, talk about disappointed! There were 2 pages of appetizers but only 1 page of entrees -- maybe 6 or so choices? We split a chicken gyro, which was basically chicken on top of an eggplant dip with some pita on the side. Everything was very bland. And it was not cheap, so we were glad that we split it, since we didn't even finish it. Too bad they moved away from their pizza because it was definitely the best on the northshore. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

Catches your eye as you pass by. Sometimes restaurants like this spend too much time on their design and atmosphere and the food suffers. This was not the case for Duman Artisan Kitchen. The service was speedy and we were well taken care of throughout the entirety of the meal. The homemade pasta was absolutely perfect and the sauce was creamy, but not heavy. Classic Italian style pizza and appetizers. If you're looking for a classy casual spot in an intimate setting you'll find it here. To start we had the baked mozzarella appetizer which is basically a couple balls of mozzarella bathing in a giant cast iron pan of their red sauce with some toasted bread for dipping. The sauce has a heavy tomato and basil flavor but compliments the cheese and bread well, but for the price ($12) I think they could include a few more pieces of mozzarella. The pizza is cooked well and the ingredients are fresh. They keep their main dishes simple with salads and pizza as well as a small variety of appetizers and a couple desserts. We ordered a customized version of the Margherita pizza, so I removed the cherry tomatoes and added pepperoni and arugula. The overall cook of the crust was even and we didn't have any burnt or dark spots, in fact, I found it to be a little on the lighter side which I personally prefer. As for the taste of the crust, I found it to have a nice firmness, the right amount of 'chewiness', and held all the ingredients well, but did lack in flavor. As for the red sauce it also had a nice balanced tomato flavor (a slight bit of sweetness and not too much zest/acid) but again it lacked much distinguishable flavor. As for the toppings, the mozzarella cheese was fresh and delicious as were the pepperonis which were some of the best I've had, really great rich, meaty flavor. The basil and arugula brought just the right amount of green to each slice. Overall the pizza and appetizer was good but sadly not up to par with similarly priced/style pizza places. This is certainly one of the better pizza places in Mandeville and we'll likely be back but for the price and self-described 'Artisan' food, I hope they work on the sauce and crust to bring it up to par with what you would expect from such a place. read more

This establishment opened up literally .2 miles from our home. We pride ourselves in trying every "Ma and Pa" pizza joint we have the opportunity to. This "Artisan Pizzeria" has a lot of cons that need to be addressed, but first I'll mention the pros. The ingredients used for the Pizza were excellent in quality and taste, and they were plentiful. The Spinach salad my wife got had extremely fresh vegetables and ingredients. The Cons At 5:54 I placed an order for pickup. I was told 25 minutes it would be ready. I ordered the Spicy Beef Flatbread, Spinach Salad and a large Pepperoni Pizza. When I was asked if I wanted banana peppers and onions on my pizza I was confused because I was pretty sure I said pepperoni. Then they informed me that their pepperoni pizza comes with banana peppers and onions. This in my book is no longer a pepperoni pizza. I also asked if they had ranch sauce, which they do not carry. This is a personal favorite for the crust on the pizza. I arrived there at 6:25 to pick up my order and was informed it would be another 6 minutes. (Pretty specific). At 6:35 I walked up to check on the status and the hostess went back then immediately came out with my order already bagged and ready. (How long had it been ready and how long would I have sat there waiting? Who knows?) The wildest part was for these three items it was a staggering $41 and some change. I couldn't help thinking to myself that this had better be good considering how expensive it was. We get home and my disappointment continued. The Pizza was burnt (See pictures), the Spicy Sausage flatbread was not flatbread. It was literally the same dough they use for the pizza. The Salad while it did have fresh ingredients, really could have used some cheese (feta preferably) because it was pretty bland. Overall the impression I got was this place was more concerned about their appearance and being fancy than they were about producing a quality product at a reasonable price. There seems to be a trend here of restaurants within a mile of the lake front having sky high prices for mediocre food and products. I understand that new establishments have to work out some kinks and I like to see small businesses succeed, but burnt pizza is not a kink, it's just sub-par. ****UPDATE**** - Owner was very responsive to our experience and offered us a replacement pizza and also gave us an excellent dessert. The Pizza was much better this time around and my wife loved the dessert. The customer service response was excellent and appreciated. The owner/proprietor righted the original deficiencies and made the second experience well worth it. While I do believe the prices are a little steep, the food quality is excellent and you shouldn't be disappointed. read more

What a wonderful surprise! I was looking for a halfway point to meet my daughter and we settled on this spot. Good decision! Started out with the baked mozzarella. It is served with homemade focaccia bread. The fresh mozzarella baked in. Homemade light tomato sauce in a black skillet. Then we order our pizza. Not only fantastic pizza, but they serve it with an olive oil and herbs. So delicious that we had to get some to go with leftovers. Never before have I eaten all my crust before. But you dip your crust in this bowl of heaven. Don't believe it when you read they are closed for lunch on weekends. They are open!!! We met here again and I had the spaghetti and meatballs this time and it was delicious. Spaghetti was al-dente and meatballs were fabulous! Go for the extra bread - only a dollar!!!! read more

This was my first time here. The ambiance, music and staff were wonderful . Ordered the supreme pizza, the crust was incredible, crust was perfectly made. The Italian sausage was sliced a bit too thick and could have had more fennel in it, but tasty. It was an unique pizza with the mozzarella put in chunks rather than the entire pizza, which I would have preferred. Overall, the taste was delicious and the side of olive oil with herbs was an extra plus. I will definitely return so I can try a calzone. Great food for the price.. kudos to Casey. I've given Duman 3 stars because the owner was hounding me via texts the night before my reservation demanding a deposit to keep my reservation. I understand it was Valentines Day, but I booked my reservation more than a week prior and there was no mention of a deposit being required. This was extremely unprofessional and honestly just rude. He continued to text me even though I told him I'd call the restaurant the next day to leave a deposit (I wasn't about to give my credit card info over the phone to someone whose identity I couldn't trust).
