Extremely disappointed with my experience at this urgent care in Dumfries. Before even getting the chance to be seen by a provider, the front desk staff seemed more focused on figuring out reasons to turn patients away instead of helping them get care. The front desk ladies were asking questions and making it feel like they were trying to diagnose the issue themselves, only to suggest going somewhere else or provide excuses as to why you shouldn't be seen there. Medical concerns should be handled by the actual medical staff, not decided before you even make it past check-in. On top of that, I was told there was apparently a "4 hour wait," which felt more like a way to discourage people from staying rather than trying to assist patients. I understand urgent cares get busy, but communication, professionalism, and showing concern for patients goes a long way. People come to urgent care because they need help, not to feel like an inconvenience the second they walk through the door. Very disappointing experience and I hope management addresses how patients are treated at the front desk. read more

Front desk girl with long brown curly hair was very rude and short tempered. Couldn't handle a interaction without getting mad, had to speak to someone else to truly get my question answered, also stated that after after 2 hours they go by time and not if a person is in uniform or not when it states "Active Duty in uniform will be prioritized" understandable that people were here before myself, but if it clearly states one thing, but you say another you should have that posted so there's clarification. Easy to get seen using Urgent Care rather than wait for my PCM at Mary Washington... for weeks on end. Check-in was quick, just a couple people ahead of me. Reason for only 4-stars was the pharmacy wait (about an hour total) but all the retirees, dependents come here (coughing themselves near death) and saturate that part the facility/process. Overall -- good experience, just prepare to be a little patient... workers are trying to help, best they can. read more

Biggest shout out to Janice for making sure I got everything, even called me back after I left revise the guy at pharmacy said they didn't have my order, then had me wait 20-25 min, then just closed all the windows, Janice called me back and made sure I got my stuff and even helped out putting the splint on, Christopher was great too in radiology, pharmacy sucks, idk the guys name, but he shouldn't be working in that field with that snarky/lousy attitude, and poor work ethics, 3 stars for Janice and Christopher read more

She was the reason I stopped seeking medical help for two years. Luckily I can travel 1&1/2 hours past The Dump and go to Bethesda/Walter Reed. Now my primary care is top notch. Absolutely terrible! My son was diagnosed with pneumonia 4 days ago at an urgent care. We made an appointment with Dumfries Health Center for a follow up due to his oxygen saturation % being low. The doctor was very rude. He told me to ignore the oxygen sats because he "looks fine". He also said he was getting better. (Back story: at the urgent care visit his lungs sounded clear but the dr did an X-ray anyway and he has a severe case with pneumonia in both the bottom and middle lobes of the right lung) At todays visit the doctor said he still sounds congested. I asked if that was an improvement since they were clear the last time. He ignored my question and said he's fine. I brought up the oxygen sats again and he asked me what I wanted done. I asked for repeat X-rays to make sure it hadn't gotten worse since that was what the urgent care doctor recommended and he refused saying, his temp is gone and he's getting better. Instead he asked me if I wanted him to call in a second antibiotic. I accepted the antibiotic since he wasn't willing to do anything else. All I wanted was to make sure nothing was wrong since his oxygen sats were low and he did the opposite by telling me to IGNORE them. read more

This place is always understaffed and extremely slow. They do not care about their patients...it is more like "let's see how many patients we can get out in 15 minutes." Today, I came in with an excruciating headache and busted blood vessels in one eye. No triage...waited hours to be seen, then rushed out. This is a shame when you are paying for Tricare Prime! read more

I see so many people complaining about this facility. It's amazing how people take for granted that we can even go to a Dr without the absorbent prices. I have had nothing but great care here and all the other military facilities. This does happen on the outside but at a much greater cost. Appointments are nearly impossible to get within a reasonable time frame. Their urgent care is also not the best quality but still the best bet for issues you can't wait over a month to get treated. With the new system many issues have come up with regards to prescriptions and appoints. It is also very likely that their pharmacy will not carry medications that they prescribed you in house. Be prepared to have a back up location for your prescription needs. Overall, it's very disappointing that this is the kind of care being offered to our soldiers and military families. read more

I have been coming to Dumfries health center for about 8 years. The service is worse than ever. The staff, and medical professionals appear to hate their jobs and patients too. The pharmacy wait time is horrible. Why? I often cannot get an appointment with my PCM, who by the way is never the same person each time you return to the clinic. As a result, I no longer bother to record the PCM's name anymore. I have been waiting 2 months to see a PCM and today the clinic called to cancel my appointment! Even the appointment line workers have issues. They take your call as if you are disturbing them. read more

I have been a patient here since 2019 and the quality is extremely poor to say the least, but this is my only option for a retired member with Tricare Prime. The last time I went in for an annual physical I was questioned as to why I wanted to come in every year and that I should wait until something is wrong with me (the last time I remember going in has been 2020 I believe). My wife is enrolled there and does not speak English and I am not allowed to be in the room when she is being seen to assist in translation with her, but they come out to the waiting room to ask me what she is saying (I do request a translator in advance and have only had it once). Lately I advised that I think that I might have shingles because of a rash all over my body and was advised that there is no available appointment in the foreseeable future. I have never received any communication to see me for appointments, I don't know who my primary care (or primary CARE LESS provider is). I guess this is the thanks I get for being a man of color that has served this nation for over twenty plus years. read more

From the time you walk in the ladies and gents are talking and laughing while you are waiting. you are there on time but have to wait more time past your appointment. you finally get in to see the doctor and he or she says get blood drawn and follow up appointment which can take up to 45 days to get back in. blood work is back something could be wrong but you receive no call nothing and still feeling bad. make another appointment, call at 6 no appointments today. go to urgent care. recommendation: close this clinic Down they are not here anymore for active duty nor retirees. what's the point of a clinic that candle handle patients not to mention enough doctors they leave and you are never notified. you leave a message for the color team and doctors from year ago are still on the message. this Clinic is the worse! read more

For a satellite military facility, this is a good one. I know every Primary Care Manager is different so I'll keep this review about the center, not my PCM. They have always gotten me in quickly when I arrived early or on time. The triage was smooth and issueless, and I was waiting for the doc in no time at all. The new system they have allows the docs to put the prescriptions and make notes right away in the record, while writing the script. The consultations to specialists are in the same system. There are NO TVs in the waiting rooms that have the TV on, they only have info displayed over and over. I waited a while for pharmacy and it would have been nice to even have a light radio playing. Why have 6 screens of "Now serving #437 at window number 3" and not have anything but the Belvoir Eagle newspaper to watch or read? This isn't 1974. They recommended labs and can do them here, but my PCM said that Saturdays are "a ghost town" here and things flow faster & easier in pharmacy and the lab on Saturdays. I appreciate her help- fighting traffic this afternoon would not be fun. read more

I been coming here forever and the doctors are kind and personable. I go for the most mundane things and they still are understanding. Also the pharmacy is very accommodating. But the dietician I went to I forget her name she was very unfriendly and un caring. I went to a dietician in order to understand how to read nutrition labels and she just reviews it quick as if she didn't have time for me. Very uncaring and unfriendly dietician! it's solid for a tricare clinic, i get appointments easy can schedule them online. My PCM for the most part is OK and i've never had any problems. i've been able to get most of what i asked for and she seems relatively concerned on my progress. Could i get better care elsewhere? maybe. But for most things, this place seems to fit the bill for my family. My kids PCM is awesome, all their physicals and stuff are done and they get fantastic care. everytime i ask for a referral, i get it. read more

The establishment itself is very nice and clean; I get OB care here and I really enjoy the ladies that work in that clinic! They are really sweet and don't mind that I sometimes have to bring my two year old along when my husband is at work! I only gave it four stars because some of the employees in the lab are not the friendliest nor do some of them seem approachable. I came in to see Dr Love yesterday afternoon because my pcm wa not available. I have swelling, redness, both eyes, irritation I was worried and the Dr to my surprise had no compassion, rude, she was judgmental and I felt so uncomfortable in her office. I practically had to push her to give me something . She didn't care to know about me ; maybe because I'm not her regular patient ? Her name really doesn't fit her , not a friendly lady makes one feel very uncomfortable in her care. Her assistant who took my vitals; she was awesome! In the few minutes she was with me I felt taken care of. She was the lady I thanked at the end of an awful office visit. Someone who cares about people in general. read more

Many of the staff are rude and the doctor I had been with acted very disrespectful towards me, rushing and being abrupt like she couldn't be bothered to deal with me. The Worst customer service military clinic ever! No one answers their phone, or return calls. Okay the operator answers the phone but beyond that...even the emergency lines do not get answered or are message calls returned. this is not just for patients trying to get a hold of a live person of importance there, even doctor lines are not answered. I'd be embarrassed to be an employee affiliated with this facility. What an absolute shame of a military facility this is taking care of service members and their families. The fact that their are years of history with bad reviews should be a good inclination what an absolute joke the Dumfries health facility is. Seriously, I triple dare anyone to give it a try. Call the pharmacy, call a hospital rep, call the referral line, call radiology; it will ring forever, maybe go to messaging, and if you are lucky someone will physically pick up the phone and hang up automatically. I been a patient at this center for the last two years (I have been assigned to them). Mostly my experience been o.k., however with some exceptions; lab staff/rude, lack of customer care skills and just very unpleasant. Pharmacy; wait is preposterous. They are acting as though they are making those meds that people are picking. I have heard so many complains from other patients and horrible mental health staff; one in particular telling the patient that whatever she is experiencing it is in her head. Other people complained about waiting for medication refill for two weeks or more. If I had a choice this "Health Center" would not be IT!!! read more

The longest pharmacy wait times in DoD. They have 8 windows with seldom more than 2 or 3 manned. The drive though lines as a result are usually at least a 2 hour wait. This place used to be better. Today I had an appointment....I waited 30 mins after my appointment time before I was even called back to see the doctor AND then waited another 30 minutes after that. It should not be this difficult for a service members spouse to be seen. My husband has been here before and they set him up with 3 different telephone appointments and all 3 either the doctor called like 2 hours late from an unavailable number, they never called at all, or when he finally reached someone they said he had to physically go in to "establish care" because he had never been there before...when he has. So he sets up the appointment, marks it on his calendar (I hear all of this by the way because he's on speaker), and goes to his appointment on the date and time specified. He just went to the appointment and they told him he was 2 hours late and needed to reschedule. This is ridiculous and it's now been 2 months since he had began trying to be seen. I swapped his PCM to another clinic. My oldest son went here for his first set of vaccinations at 2 months and the women doing the shots was rough and he cried like I had never heard him cry. The next set of shots were with the nurse at his pediatrician and he barely noticed. Do not take your family members here. read more

The Pharmacy has long lines and will not answer their telephone so the only way to contact them is to wait in line and physically talk to someone while waiting again. And even if you have a military doctor's prescription you must first visit the Dumfries Health Center and sign an "activation" form meaning you must visit the Pharmacy at least twice. read more

I go to this clinic since it is very close to my home. Convenience was a factor when choosing our health care providers. Pediatrics and Internal Med have been ok as far as services go. I have been seen for OB care and had such a great experience. We were lucky to have been able to stay in the clinic even when my husband retired. However, I had such a bad experience there tonight that I needed to write a review. I know that the pharmacy is ridiculously busy, which is why I normally pick up refills in the evening. I always check hours of operation in case it changes. The website and even my son's nurse advised me of the hours of operation for the pharmacy which closes at 8pm on Fridays. I got a text saying that my son's medication refill was ready for pickup. I head over to the pharmacy and arrive at 710pm. I was not even allowed in the building. There was a female that went outside the door of the building as I approached and she told me that the pharmacy closes at 7 and they are not helping anyone else. I told her that I was advised that the pharmacy closes at 8 by the nurse, and she just told me, "nope, 7." The website needs to be updated and all staff needs to be aware of the hours changing so that patients can be aware. After getting someone to watch my kids just so I can pick up my son's medications and ending up with nothing, I am just so frustrated! I have been trying to get this medication refilled 2 weeks prior, but I was told that my son needed an appointment for follow up. Ok, no problem. But every time I called to make an appointment, their systems were down. I finally was able to get an appointment finally for this week, which is why I am now only getting the refill. By the way, my son is out of meds tomorrow, so I have to take another trip to the pharmacy. Hopefully, they are actually open from 7-12 like it says on the website, unless they changed it without anyone knowing again. Guess we will have to see. I don't know what will happen. Unprofessional and rude in my opinion how they had someone just shushing everyone away if they were approaching the door. Hooray. read more
