After spending nearly 45 mins with U-Haul customer service to sort it out, they called the manager to see if they could open the lock box and they said they were not in the area to resolve the issue. I had no other choice than to go anther U-Haul location 35 mins away because it was the only other location that had the van I needed. This is terrible customer service, I rely on these rentals for my event planning business, it is my livelihood and if I can't rely on my transportation rental, I let my customers down and it would affect business reputation. Thank goodness there happened to be another van available last minute. This is truly unacceptable! The store should have measures in place to avoid these situation and come through for their customers, like a person on call or an additional lock box with an extra key.

Our truck was full of steel, and we needed to unload it that same day so we could return the truck. I found this place on the Avenue of the Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, and their extended hours--open until 6 PM on a Saturday--made it our best option. They're open seven days a week and accept a wide range of items, including metal, electronics, air conditioning units, cars, and general junk. You can either bring materials in yourself or arrange for pickup. The process here is a bit different. First, you give your name to the yard attendant. Then you pull onto the scale to weigh your load, back off to dump it, and return to the scale for a second weigh-in. The scale is positioned in the middle of the road leading to the payment area, so we had to wait for it to clear before getting on. This setup created a bottleneck, and even after unloading, we still waited quite a while to get paid. Also worth noting: you'll need to provide your license and a thumbprint. This was our first visit, and we had a few basic questions about the process. Unfortunately, the staff didn't seem interested in helping--simple questions like where to dump were met with visible annoyance. This was especially disappointing given the company's website states that their team is "friendly, skilled, and knowledgeable" and committed to great customer service. That wasn't our experience at all. On the positive side, the payout was about what we expected, and the extended hours are definitely a big plus. On the downside, the long wait and lack of customer service were frustrating. Their website also promises a quick, convenient process, but it took us over an hour from arrival to payment--so "record time" didn't quite apply here. In the end, we cleared out the storage unit and made enough for a lunch out, so it wasn't a total loss. I'd call it a practical option if you need late hours, but be prepared to wait.

Things seemed smooth at first as the crew arrived around 9:30 AM and the majority of my belongings were loaded into the truck within three hours. However, once we arrived at the new house, two of the three movers left without notifying me. I assumed they were working inside the truck while the remaining crew brought items in. I even spent over $80 on lunch for all the movers, only to find out two of them had left for the day after just four hours. That's when the nightmare really began. It took over an hour to get my futon upstairs because they hadn't disassembled it. They even required my help to get it up the stairs during which they damaged my walls and staircase without repairing. I had to move boxes to the correct rooms myself, unwrap shrink-wrapped furniture, and deal with his phone breaks and gas station runs. Despite all this, by 10:30 PM- yes, over 13 hours later-Ruben requested $2,170 in payment, claiming he gave me a "discount" of $20/hour for 8 hours because two movers left early. That still left me paying well over double the original quote. To top it all off, my daughter's bed was still unassembled, my TV was sitting in the box on the floor, and several items hadn't been properly placed or finished. When I voiced my concerns about the lack of communication and unfinished tasks, I was met with a clearly frustrated and dismissive attitude. After a long and exhausting day, I was left feeling taken advantage of and extremely disappointed. I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone. Poor communication, incomplete work, and a complete lack of professionalism.
