Coffee starts at 7:30, and breakfast is 8:30 -- 10:00. Our room also worked well --- we got a suite on the ground floor, and enjoyed having a small living room to stretch out in. I also got a quick tour of some of the other rooms --- some are mostly about the bed. Most of the rooms (including the suite) have their own bathrooms; a few of the smaller rooms share bathrooms, which usually works well for us but wasn't what we needed this trip. Innkeeper Katie (and her assistant/husband Jeff) are retiring and training their successor. Katie was quite friendly and helpful; I'll be sorry to see her go. For nights when we're not camping, Glen Arbor B&B will probably be our pick in the area.

A friend found this resort when we were looking for somewhere to go for a girl's weekend. We stayed…read morein a third floor penthouse. I can sum up Lebear with one word: WOW. Absolutely amazing. A beautiful spacious apartment, with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. It easily slept the six of us and we did not feel the least bit over crowded. As there was a group of us the price really was pretty reasonable for the weekend. While family friendly, it could be a bit pricey. The kitchen comes with everything you need from dinner ware to dish soap. There is a large grill on the private porch besides the stove top and oven. Two fireplaces (one is gas and the other you have to light for which they provide all needed materials). There are two flat screen TVs in the main rooms, another in the master bedroom and a small one in the bunk room. The shower in the master bath is huge and there is also a separate large tub. The best part is the large porch that overlooks the beach and Lake Michigan. It wraps around the side around to the back. the view of the lake and Sleeping Bear Dunes is beautiful. The resort also has a gym, outdoor pool and hot tub. Blu, a restaurant I highly recommend, is attached. There is also free wifi (they provide a password). The staff was also amazing, expect to be treated like an honored guest. They take care if anything you might need, even marsh mellows. The only slightly negative thing is that Lebear is a bit off on its own in Glen Arbor. The wineries are about a half hour away which was reasonable. Glen Arbor is small but charming. There are several shops, a couple bars (try Art's Tavern) and a grocery store. The resort is a very short walk from the town.

There are all sorts of tiny details that make Lebear a special place, such as cucumber-ice water by the pool, cookies in the kitchen, and free and easy kayak use on site. The location is excellent. We have stayed at the Homestead in years past, but the Lebear location really sets it apart as it is a quick walk to the grocery stores, restaurants and shops in Glen Arbor. My only complaint is a minor one, and it's just that the bedroom situation is a little funky. In all three of the units I saw, the master bedroom was perfect, but the two smaller guest rooms left much to be desired. One of the bedrooms has a nice queen bed and bunk beds and the other has a double or queen-sized trundle bed. I would think to put the trundle bed in the room with the bunk beds (making it more of a "kids" room) and leave the nice queen-sized bed in its own room. Also, the hallway lighting outside of the two smaller guest rooms was extremely bright at night and made it very difficult to sleep.

We were welcomed to LNP by the couple who own the small lodge. We stayed on the second floor of the guest house, with a deck looking out onto the water. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a calming, woodsy decor, and a lot of thought put into the details. The owners had left us a couple sodas in the fridge, and lots of nice soaps and stuff in the bathroom. They invited us to canoe on the lake, but I really wanted a nap after the drive in from Chicago, and my girlfriend found the hundreds of channels on TV. We filled out a menu card, and breakfast was brought up to our room in the morning. It was a really treat, and for guests like us who would rather eat a private breakfast, the best accommodation a B&B could make. The location was super close to Traverse City and the National Park, but also set off plenty, on back roads. Interlochen reminded me of the north woods of Wisconsin, and is home to a major NPR station. The stay at Lake N' Pines Lodge really put me at ease.

This was our first B&B experience and it was the little touches that will have us coming back. There were complimentary bottles of water and soda in the fridge. The kitchen had several amenities such as: pots, pans, utensils, and even spices. So if you wanted to, you could prepare all your meals on site. We were here for a wedding, so we did not utilize this feature, but worth noting. Room service was complimentary every morning and the options for breakfast were expansive and delicious. I had the blueberry pancakes the first morning and eggs, bagel, and sweet potatoes the next. Both were served with Coffee and OJ and seriously good! The room itself was the perfect size for two people, but had a hideaway bed, that could sleep two additional people. The decor was what you would expect of a northern Michigan fish town, log furniture and a touch of kitsch. Outside, we had our own mini-deck, table and chairs.There was a decent sized flatscreen in our room with over 100 channels a DVD player. We just channel surfed in between our trip excursions, but they even had a new selection of movies in the main house that could be borrowed. The location is what really cemented our appreciation for this place. It is far enough off the beaten trail that nature overtakes the sound of motorists. There is an on-sight dock with complimentary boats, kayaks, and canoes that can be taken out. It is absolutely beautiful. Here you are halfway between Benzonia and Traverse City, which we found particular ideal. My only gripe was that the bedding and towels were both musty upon arrival. I am sure that our hosts would have taken care of it right away had we said something, but we were exhausted and it wasn't worth the hassle. This aside, it was still a great and hospitable place to stay. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We went to Pyramid Point one afternoon and the sky opened up on us on the walk/run back to the car. We were drenched. We came back and asked her if she could toss some clothes/towels in the dryer for us and she did without complaint. It's something you're not paying for and she went above and beyond to accommodate us. Bonus points for that. We stayed in the Empire room. Definitely tiny, but cozy. Plenty enough space for a couple. Breakfast in the morning had many choices and was delicious. They've even got a barn you can park your car in. There's only a few spots and it's first come/first serve but that was another unexpected perk. The home is from the early 1900's if I remember correctly and it shows. Narrow steps, tons of sitting rooms. It's fun just to walk around inside and check the place out. Highly recommended!

But what about breakfast, you ask? That's great too. Our first morning was Almond Ciabatta French Toast with Michigan maple syrup and locally produced breakfast sausage. The next morning was this soufflé sort of dish with hash browns, mushrooms, and eggs served in a small bowl, with bacon on the side. Locally baked multi-grain bread was served with fresh Michigan preserves. Every day, there's a fresh fruit cup with berry yogurt and their delicious Korner Kottage Krunch (see KK website for details). Basic idea though, this is the best granola I've ever had. Otherwise, our room (Paris) was comfy and clean. The screened in front porch is nice for winding down with a good book. The location is perfect for walking around downtown, and is across the street from the beach. A quick drive takes you to wineries slightly North, to Old Mission Peninsula, and to downtown Traverse City. Free wi-fi too. Yelper alert--while sitting inside Korner Kottage, my iPhone yelp app said I couldn't check in because I was 2.2 miles away. Not sure if this is due to AT&T coverage, or the app.

The hosts were super friendly and very informative about the area. The breakfasts were delicious and expertly prepared. We really felt like we were part of the family during the stay.
