The rooms were amazing and the grounds were wonderful to walk around, but above that, the service was fantastic. Before I left, I felt like I had become a close friend. Alice, who runs the place was so wonderful and the breakfast she made was the best I have had. In addition, her son Charles was one of the most interesting people I have met. Charles manages the property and takes care of the grounds, Bee Hives, Chickens, etc. Each place you looked there was something interesting; from the apple trees to the flowers all the way down to the rocks who were decorated by some very talented grandchildren. I not only highly recommend this B&B, I plan to go back every year to have our sales meeting.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Alice, our wonderful hostess, and provided a quick tour of the house. Rooms are large and well maintained, homey and alive with history. If you're looking to escape, I would highly recommend this gem, conveniently located centrally to Fishtown, numerous vineyards and a short drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes. Lastly, I would be remiss not to mention the breakfast Alice prepared. We were treated to Eggs Benedict, fresh baked muffins and plentiful fruit. Just an all around memorable stay.

My boyfriend and I came up north for a weekend getaway and neither of us have stayed at a legitimate Bed and Breakfast before, and boy, what a high bar Inn the Pines set for all the subsequent ones. Their home felt like walking into my parent's house: you feel cozy, warm, and cared for the whole time. They were incredibly easy to communicate with and so accommodating. There were always homemade cookies in the common area and Nancy's breakfasts were incredible!!! So many lovely personal touches placed throughout the space. They had a lot of pro-tips on things to do/eat in the area. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the environment was peaceful and rejuvenating. Met two other lovely couples at the Airbnb, and we had a lot of fun getting to know them as well. Can't wait for an opportunity to stay with Nancy and Jerry again!

Our stay at the Grey Hare was thoroughly enjoyed by both of us. Derrek and Sarah were so attentive and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The attention to details was impressive - there were glasses of port and chocolate set out for us every night, homemade snacks available in the sitting room and the breakfasts Sarah prepared were so delicious they bordered on decadent. Every morning, Derrek served us a special homemade pastry with coffee at 8:30am while Sarah made our breakfast, ready at 9am. The timing was very relaxing and gave us a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the inn. We stayed in the Barnyard room, which was roomy with a separate sitting room where we could relax and enjoy the view of cherry orchards and bay. The linens were top quality, and the bed was very comfortable. We decided to stay on the peninsula for the majority of our visit and with the recommendations from Sarah and Derrek, we found a nice beach, a fancy restaurant, a retro general store and several roadside stands that sold cherry and lavender products. If you go, be sure to stop at the Harbor View Lavender Farm; their ice cream is special (lavender and honey)!

The first night it was rainy, and the patter on the roof lulled us to sleep. Their AC units are as silent as the surrounding area and customizable to our preferences. I can only hope they make you oatmeal while you're there. I'm still thinking about it, a week later. The common areas are gorgeous and the library would keep me busy for at least a season. My husband and I wondered (only slightly in jest) how much it would cost to live there forever. Then we remembered something something family and friends back home and a need to remain employed. Sally (the Inn keeper) and her grandson Onders are an absolute delight. Breakfast was fresh and delicious and the coffee was pretty amazing! You can choose to eat outside on the covered porch overlooking Lake Michigan or eat inside. We took in as much nature as we could while we were here, we took our bikes from the Inn and rode them to the old mission lighthouse, and when we returned we took out one of the kayaks they have for guests to borrow and watched the sunset. The lake was nice and quiet that evening, just what the soul needed.

First let me start with the good, the place is absolutely gorgeous and has all kinds of amenities and games for the guests to enjoy. The cabins are quaint and comfortable. That being said, the management and owner are the most unprofessional people I've ever had to encounter as a PAYING guest. My friend had her wedding here this past weekend, and instead of raving about how beautiful the place is I left that place with an AWFUL taste in my mouth and absolute disappointment. If there was a way for the manager to make things difficult on my friend and her guests, she did it. The manager was extremely rude and uncooperative from the get go. My friend came to her with concerns about cobwebs in the cabins and the manger yelled at her and accused her of "looking for problems." She yelled at my friend (THE BRIDE) in front of other guests! There was a complete lack of communication between employees. Most of them were amicable and happy to help but they would tell us one thing and the manager would turn around and tell us another. She handled herself extremely unprofessionally. Also, we had unseasonably warm weather this past weekend and the cabins don't have air conditioning. The resort has fans that the guests can request to be brought to their cottages. The day of the wedding was 91 degrees and the manager threw a fit over having to get the fans out because they had been put away for the winter already. I am in the service industry and I cannot believe the way this woman spoke to myself and many others. I cannot believe she still has a job! When we contacted the owner to resolve the issues he came around and spoke to some guests but never apologized for the manager's behavior. He instead came into one of the cabins-where everyone had moved inside because they have an ordinance that the DJ had to stop at 10pm- and proceeded to YELL and PITCH A FIT (not exaggerating) that we were being disrespectful because of the music level. Not ONCE did he address us before that in a civil manner about the music. NOR did he approach the bride and groom to ask them to accommodate the ordinance. He just burst in (didn't knock) and starting yelling like a crazy neighbor. Had he addressed us in a professional manner we would have turned it down and accommodated his requests. Instead we were all sent to bed at 12:30 like children at a summer camp. All in all, the bride and groom paid LOTS of money to rent the place for the weekend and seeing the bride sob MULTIPLE times over the treatment we all received was devastating. That is NOT how your wedding weekend should go. I will NEVER recommend this place
