Looking for more recent reviews, just hired this firm to represent my son. Since we paid the deposit we have not received a call back. We're initially told an attorney would meet with him this week in jail. Granted, it has only been a week but we have left three messages with additional questions and havent received a call back. An attorney still has not scheduled to meet with my son. Just curious if this is normal, and im being impatient. They were very nice and informative upfront. I worked with Nikki. In Gilbert, Arizona. 2021 alleged DUI. I paid $6000.00 USD Nikki was new. She is a very nice lady. But the firm pushed me to settle when I actually had a case. They are supposed to do two blood tests. They did one. And the machine malfunctioned. I asked to go to a jury trial. And they said I just needed to settle. So for my 6 grand, I had representation I could have had from the public defender, Please realize, Gilbert, AZ is notorious for their dui revenue, the police have nothing else to do. Dunham and Jones did nothing to help me. They did not get me a "better deal," they returned urgent phone calls when they got around to it. I paid them 6 grand I went into debt to pay because I wrongly believed they would fight for me. I am an honest guy, it was a first "alleged" offense after zero speeding tickets for 20 years. They promised to help me. They did nothing. Again, the PD who was also not trying, would have charged me less. So don't ever drive in Gilbert, AZ. They troll for DUIs and don't hire Dunham. They are empty suits who want to cash checks and not be lawyers. And BTW, I will be happy to tell my story to anyone. I am a peaceful and nice person, But Dunham has major ethical problems. If a client hires you for 6 grand. You work for it. Not tell them they are wrong and should settle. I hope Nikki moved on, She was nice. but the "boss" was not going to do any work to help me. So. His quality of care was absolutely unprofessional, and he didn't even ask me the details of my case. I was very disappointed with the representation and lack of defense from one of the attorneys. I understand that it is an uncontrollable outcome if it goes to trial, but I was put in a wrist lock by the aggressor at a bar in Seabrook. No statue in Seabrook Texas allowed him to hold me by my wrists as I was verbally defending myself in front of a woman that was swinging a purse at me. I was restrained by a bar employee and I defended myself while being held by my wrists. He was tugging on my shoulder and caused chronic supraspinatus tendinitis. He broke tooth 31 and damaged L5. I had a bruised right arm and lumbar. The witnesses started the fight by removing a child from her mother as the mother and child tried to leave. Shelia Ackley, an ex police officer, took a ten year old child from the mother as we tried to leave after paying. We were in two separate vehicles. Sheila Ackley assaulted my sister, and her friend that was a police officer, let her and her friend off, and told the bar employee that he was doing his job. The woman he put in a wrist lock was not in the fight, and she was not the aggressor. Sheila Ackley, and Anne White were the aggressors, and the bar employee grabbed an innocent person and injured her. The bar restaurant did not have enabled cameras, so they say. Very disappointed in the judicial system and very disappointed in Seabrook police. read more

I couldn't even get my lawyer on the phone 90% of the time. I truly believe that my lawyer did nothing to try and get a dismissal, not one motion filed, no affidavits, NOTHING. Don't walk, RUN away from this firm. For the$25k they charged the attorney was never available and that we should be happy when the docket ran for 4 years before an actual trial. The longer the better???? When we questioned him, the answer was "well you got yourself in this trouble," no kidding!!! When asked about an appeal it was not necessary to yell out, "We don't do appeals" out loud. And that's when you finally got off the cell phone during the trial. Well, this is about as honest a review as I can write. I booked these lawyers after talking to Mr. Hiser on the phone and he assured me they would be on top of things and handle my case(s) appropriately. This was for a DUI/Possession charge. I paid the entire fee in advance, which was around $10,000. I was assigned an attorney and then quickly reassigned another. She was very nice, but didn't seem to be a go-getter. When we went to court for the first charge, she came with the DA offer and I had to encourage her to go back and ask for a better offer, which the DA agreed to. I met her once and she told me she was overwhelmed with cases while she carried a stack of papers running from court room to court room and then it was over and I've been told I did not get a good deal as this was my first charge ever. Over the course of the next year, I emailed and called around 10 times inquiring about my second charge, all documented. Not once was a call or email returned and I have records showing this. NOT ONCE. My 2nd case wasn't filed until a year and a half later and I did not hear from them. I was panicked and just needed to talk to someone. During this time, my attorney changed about 4 more times. I did receive one call where the attorney introduced himself but never heard from him again (I believe his name was Roland). Once I received a court date for the 2nd charge, I called and emailed another 5-7 times and none were returned. Not one. I was so upset and uneasy that I ended up having to PAY FOR A DIFFERENT ATTORNEY that was more attentive. I received a call from Dunham and Jones a couple days before my 2nd charge court date, after they failed to return my countless calls and emails over the course of months, and I told them I had to get new representation. They said okay and that was that. No apology. No refund. No nothing. There was zero prep, zero care, and zero initiative on their end. I am telling you that this was a total waste of money. I could have done better representing myself. Throughout my entire ordeal, they only added frustration, anxiety, and silence. If you do end of using them, you will regret it but I'm just here to warn you and tell you of my experience. I wanted so badly to believe in them and that I wasn't just a number and some money, but sadly that is exactly what I was. My brother is currently in the hospital hurt and we can get no info because they said he has a warrant for cases that this attorney is supposedly handling but in reality is not handling anything! I hired Dunham & Jones because out of all the attorney offices I spoke with, Michael Derek made me feel the most comfortable with my decision. The price that he quoted me was not only a fair price, but also included the option to take my cases to trial. I was assigned to Matthew Arnold who stuck with me throughout the whole process even thought the district attorney did not want to give an inch. Ultimately, it was Matt's patience and insight that allowed me to get my charges reduced to misdemeanors and even allowed me to keep some of them off of my record. Where a lot of attorneys would have grown impatient considering my case drug on for a couple of years, Matt stayed the course and was able to get me the result that I wanted in the first place. I was sucked into the firm by the reviews. This attorney's office appears to be a small operation when you go into the office but is far from it. I was sold a plan by an attorney up front which I never saw again. Then was met by another at court which sold me something else at my 1st appearance. Then was alert with a bounce email that he was no longer with firm a few weeks later. An Attorney showed up to my next 2 appearance unprepared. one of which was my final appearance then was forced to make a decision on the spot or go trail which ironically was after I finished all payments, which I paid off ahead of time. I hired them to help my son's DUI case. So far we had 2 attorney's over the phone, then we had one represent him in court. Now they switched to another attorney. 4-5 attorneys so far. As a first time DUI for my son the court is making him get an interlock device but my son's car is not working and he doesn't have money to fix. So he'll have to rent this device and around $150 per month. Then he goes to see a probation officer every month $70. I don't think the attorney even fought for his rights, if any. I'm so disappointed. I am looking into a new attorney tomorrow. read more

So far am giving one star , my fiancé had a court date and the lawyer assigned for his case her name is Nikki didn't show up to court ,we called the office because they didn't want to give us her phone number ,they put her through and she said oh like it wasn't on her schedule or something and that sorry she already went back to the office and then she said oh tell them I emailed them . All other people had their lawyers with them except us including people who had free assigned attorneys. They didn't even give us her phone number just gave us her email. Weird that she said it wasn't on her schedule, but the court knew she was supposed to come. It is also on Bexar County website under her name for that day hearings actually he was her only hearing for the day on the system. How couldn't she have known. I hope I don't regret recommending you to my fiance. If this level of service continues it's not going to work out, we need a lawyer we can rely on a lawyer that shows up to court. Because a lawyer that doesn't show up in court is in violation of disciplinary rules. That's not acceptable under any circumstances and I don't care who you assigned for the case; we hired the company it's your job to make sure a lawyer shows up to each court date of the case you are paid for. read more

I hired Dunham & Jones to represent me for domestic violence charges. When i got with them, i told them to file a speedy trial motion. They waited 11 months before filing it. I had 4 or 5 different attorneys that were over my case. Three of the five attorneys said they had a recording of me admitting to the allegations to the detective. I said, "Really, let's hear it." They played about ten minutes and then say it's there somewhere. Any attorney worth their salt, who would've heard something important. Would've stopped the recording and written down the time so as to go back to that time. They let the judge berate me in open court and just stood behind me, smirking and giggling while it happened. Then, after being told, it's just the way it is, which I responded, "No, it's the way you let it be." They let me sit on the docket for 4 years. A speedy trial is supposed to be within 8 months if you are out on bond and up to 90 days if you are in custody. Maybe i didn't pay enough for them to actually protect me vigorously like defense attorneys are supposed to ‍ If i were you, i would seek counsel elsewhere. And i want that star back. They don't even deserve one. I also have several phone calls recorded of their incompetence. I wish inwas able to put them on here for everyone to hear exactly what i wrote. Do not, under any circumstances, give this firm a dime of your money unless you are guilty of the offense you are charged with, you are out on bail, and as far as you are concerned if your case never goes to trial you are just fine with it. This firm has no intention of moving forward with your case. They do not look at the evidence. They do not put the evidence together in a way that you can come to their office and look at it yourself. They assign the lawyer to you and if you think that lawyer is doing a bad job? Tough luck. No amount of calls or emails to the managing partner will make a damn bit of difference. They'll give you lip service ("oh sure, we will assign another lawyer to your case") as long as you still owe them money, but once you are paid in full that ends. You are stuck with a lawyer who is incapable of handling your case. I am a lawyer - not a criminal one - and I know what professional lawyer service looks like. This is not it. You are on your own. I had to write my own opening statement and witness examination outlines. I took deferred adjudication when I should have gone to trial and been acquitted (the DA did not have the evidence and the complaining witness had told some very meaningful lies that could be proved as lies) because I did not trust the attorney to do an adequate job. I was going to end up firing the attorney during opening statements and taking over my own defense and, since I don't know criminal procedure, that could have been a mess. Please benefit from my experience and go somewhere else. One star is about a dozen too many for Dunham & Jones. read more
