I was surprised to see such low ratings for this place. When we were here things were well organized, employees were busy but made themselves available more than once as well as the cashier being ready at the front. We were able to look at the various options that Dunham's had for coolers and other food related camping items. The Yeti items were really nice, but out of our price range. Fortunately they also have Igloo products which had much more reasonable prices for things of similar sizes, although there were some items that were $200 we want to save for. Overall it wasn't spotless or perfect but they are at least maintaining an average Dunham's Sports store. We priced some things out and will definitely be back to purchase some more things in the future. read more

I was in duhams around 6:00 today and had the worst encounter ever. One of the workers name Velinda had kicked my husband and I out of the store. We were testing out a basketball with intent to buy it, she comes around the corner and says this is inside not outside, then proceeds to say that if you break something you buy it and we said okay we will if we do. She (Velinda) was not happy and told us to leave, she then continued to mock us as we walked out. I was sitting in the parking and her and two of her coworkers come out side, I went up to her to see if i could get her name because I felt so disrespected. She then said that she didn't have a name and she was going to have the cops called on my husband and I to have us be escorted out, mind you I was no longer in the store But outside of it. Her coworker tried to get her to go inside because she saw that she was being disrespectful towards us. My mom was on the phone with me as I talked to her and after I got her name my mom told me to just walk away and Velinda proceeded to say listen to her go away and leave And then mocked me agsun waving me good bye as I got in to the car. I don't know if she acted like this because my husband is African American and she is racist but I have worked in customer service and would never talk to some one with that much hatred and disrespect duhams please do something. read more

2 weeks ago I went to this store to purchase a new putter. NO one in golf dept. Went to front desk, asked if they could page someone. They did. 30 mins later, still not a sole in the dept. One week before waterfowl season starts and they have absolutely NO waterfowl camo gear in stock. They also don't keep a stock of 3.5 inch T-shot or BBB but do in 3 inch..which makes absolutely no sense. I now have to travel all the way to either Kalamazoo or Portage to get my gear. Racial profiling the moment you walk in the door and start shopping. Welcome to Dunham's Sports Benton Harbor where everyone is welcome to shop except..... I brought my kids and a couple of their friends to the Benton Harbor store and I am white and two of my children (14 and 15) are black. Once we walked in the store, I asked them to go pick out what they wanted and I went a few isles over looking at other things. 10 minutes later my kids and their friends had picked out multiple things to buy and were in the middle of the store. One of my sons runs over to me and says that there is trouble. I walked over and their are police officers around the kids and I asked what had happened. He said the store called them in because the boys were exhibiting suspicious behavior. I asked his what behaviors and he said looking over their shoulders and things like that. Apparently the "poorly trained" Dunham staff, saw 3 black kids picking out clothes and shopping and called the police before even speaking with the boys and even asking them if their parents were with them. Not to mention the staff could not explain one thing that the boys had done wrong other than shopping and exhibiting suspicious behavior. What a pile of CRAP to say the least. Now you would think at the very least, they would apologize to the children. NOPE, nothing but a bunch of uneducated blank stares from Dan the Assistant General Manager and his tracking sidekick Dana. If you enjoy sports but not racial profiling, this is not a place to go and it should be investigated for it's practices. I will be following up with the executives of the company. Michael Stomberg, sorry your kids had to go through that. I myself being an african american male experienced racial profiling just yesterday, 11/24/2017 at rhe Benton Harbor store. I went there to purchase a firearm last week during a Sunday and Monday sale. I got bad vibes soon as I came in, like i was being watched for stealing. So i make it to the back where the guns were, told them i wanted to purchase a gun and their facial expressions told it all. Very rude customer service!!! I had to wait to buy the gun because the FBI had me under review. Called them back yesterday and they said the FBI cleared me to purchase. Well, me and my wife get there and again,bad customer service, didnt even get aknowledge until after the white customers were helped. Had to sign more paper work and the lady told me to take the UPC paper to the front to purchase it while she completes the paper work. she aslo told me to give her a call if the price rings up wrong, because i had asked her the week before if i will still get the same price after waiting for the FBI. She agreed the price was locked in but when we got to the counter the price was the regular price. Keep in mind, me and my wife waited over an hour. I asked the cashier to call to the gun counter because the price was indeed wrong. She goes to say that was the right price, and without the cut out from the paper to prove it i will have to pay the regular price. Then i asked to see the manager, she would not even come out to see us, insteed she told the cashier to tell us to come back tommorrow. I told the cashier we have been here over an hour already and would like to see the manager to solve the issue now. Out the blue, here comes the Manager Rachel yelling and telling us to leave for cussing out the cashier. We did not cuss one time nor was loud, even asked the cashier when did we cuss her out and she said "i dont know". Rachel ended up calling the cops, and we were told to leave and if we come back we will go to jail. I have filed with the Better Business, and contacted Dan myself whom stated he will look into it. This store is really pitiful! Every season I stop in here for more than a few items and Customer service is just as pitiful as it was since the first day I step foot in here! It is very clear they do not serving the black community! Their turned up noses and pitiful looks on their faces says it all whenever I'm in checkout! Today I was getting merchandise for my sons (football season) and as I was approaching checkout, I wasn't even greeted! He literally just started ringing up my things! As I was trying to pull up a coupon on my phone, I noticed he had this uninterested look on his face like he hated ringing up my things! On top if that, he didn't even ask my phone number for rewards or anything! I mean he was so PITIFUL!!! Anyway, I just so happened to find a couple Under Armor shirts on clearance . The yellow tag said $6.97 and $5.97 and I didn't noticed until I got home that one of them rung up $13.97! He didn't even try to offer a price change or anything, he just let me pay the entire price for it! As I'm leaving the store, an older white (or Hispanic) couple was behind me and I'll be darn if he didn't greet them with a "Hi, welcome to Dunham's can I start by getting your phone number?" do not shop at this store. i am a parent of two black children. they were shopping with 2 friends, while my white husbnand and white son were elsewhere in the store. an employee followed the kids around, made an announcement about black teens being in the store on the loud speaker and yes- called the police! employee says they acted suspiciously - yes, they kept turning around to see why some crazy lady is following them. you called the police because my kids are black. our kids are honor roll students, student athletes, and you treated them like criminals!! disgusting. we will never step foot in any of your stores again. read more
