After waiting nearly six weeks I went into his shop on Tuesday November 29 and was told he just put it up on the bench and it was next in line to get looked at. I heard nothing so I went back in there on Friday December 2 and he shows me he has it opened up (4 screws) but hasn't had a chance to troubleshoot it yet so he couldn't tell me what was wrong with it or how much it would cost to repair. There was absolutely no service rendered on his part yet he would not refund my $45 that I paid him to troubleshoot and give me an estimate.

Given that it's my…read morefirst time all own I wasn't familiar with what I needed and only got a modem resulting in no internet. Called customer service and they explained it to me so I went back and got a router. Then I couldn't activate it myself and have a job so I had to wait a couple days to have a technician come out. All that said, I've dealt with other WiFi etc. carriers both with my family and on my own and can say the customer service at spectrum in Big Rapids is pretty good and as of now the WiFi is sufficient and working well. Activation may require a tech person to come out but going into this that's what I thought had to happen anyway so I was not flustered when the activation employee explained that to me (she was also very nice which helped). For new independent persons, don't forget to add a router to your order but other than that I'd say given their promotion prices and customer service, spectrum is a good way to go.
