Your typical Dunham's. I think a long time ago they had a location at 14 Mile and Northwestern so this would be more of an upgrade for them if so, it's a much bigger store. If you look on their website they usually have a 15% off coupon. We were specifically looking for swim goggles and I thought they might be with the bathing suits but instead they are in the front area by the kayaks. The store was doing a 25% off sale so the $20 goggles ended up being $15. The only store employee I saw to ask where the goggles were was one person in the back, in the gun section. However, when we checked out, the checkout employee was very friendly. I've always found Dunham's to be a bit overpriced but the coupons help at least. read more

I gave one star but it's probably one to many. My family went in to buy some basic sporting gear. Baseball pants , sliding shorts and a pair of soccer cleats. As we neared the checkout my child set down a ball he was carrying around but changed his mind about purchasing . He didn't leave it at check out but rather set it on a table near register. At that point a store manager started yelling abusively at my child about his choice to set the one item down that we choose not to buy. Shouting that it wasn't the stores job to return items to their proper places that customers carried around but at checkout decided against purchasing. Customers should return all unpurchased items to where they came from. In theory I understand however in practice every store I've ever been in besides Dunham's understands that customers regularly have remorse regarding some items as they approach the register. Dunham's of west Bloomfield clearly has some employee/personnel problems. I wish them luck in weeding out the problematic management. read more

I like this sports store, it's pretty well stocked considering the size. Most of the time I have been able to find someone to help me when I needed help here. The prices are pretty competitive with other sports stores. read more

Walked in around 12:45 today and asked a question at the gun counter as an employee walked out from the back and was ignored. Didn't say one moment and I will be with you, nothing. Another employee walked out and didn't ask if I had been helped. The first associate proceeded to hand a rifle to a customer and both were oblivious to the first rule of gun safety; always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. I say both because the customer pointed the gun at me as he was looking it over and the associate said nothing. Go to any actual gun store and you would be told to leave if you did that. Obviously people are buying guns who haven't a clue, and the guy asked if there was any ammo for the rifle lmao. read more

I worked there for 2 years. Loved the job. West Bloomfield customers are super picky and are super lazy and if you don't feed them they complain. We are definitely understaffed. So all the associate problems finding them is because West Bloomfield people don't need jobs. So blame yourselves. We worked way too hard for a half decent pay. The managers are all very kind and sometimes I would say way too nice to customers. The prices are very good and the amount of coupons we give is crazy. So I don't see why all these complaints. Associates aren't your personal shoppers or slaves. I'm sure you could hire one of those tho. Love Dunhams!! read more

Purchased a golf bag cart here two weeks ago. I've used it three times and the right wheel continues to fall off. However because I don't have the actual physical receipt any longer (because who keeps those now days) they will not look at it nor exchange the cart. When I told him I no longer have the receipt but have my credit card receipt from the date of purchase he essentially hung up on me. Bad customer service here. read more

From experience, while the prices might be low, the quality of the sporting goods can be terrible. The customer service would fit well in a Zombie movie. After my last Duhnam's experience - buying a set of weights which turned out to be really horrible (I didn't think this was possible) - I swore off Dunhams in favor of Dick's, which is comparatively wonderful. read more

If you need any help at all finding something good luck. I literally did 3 laps around the store trying to find an associate to help me. Nothing, not the first time either. The cashier was busy and I didn't want to bother him, you would think in a store this size they would have plenty of workers on the floor. Last time I was there to buy a pair of running shoes i literally had to walk in the back area to find someone. The last time I visited this store was a couple of months ago and overheard racist conversations in the next aisle. A quick peek and I saw an old, bearded white male employee coming out of the aisle along with a younger white female staff. I am pretty sure the older man is a manager and it was he who was making derogatory remarks about the productivity of the front cashiers whom I noticed on my way out were two African American kids. I didn't buy anything that day; but it bothered me about what I overheard. I looked up Google and other reviews about this store's customer service. Reviews that mention rude manager, old man yelling at a child for putting things back on shelf, making mockery of 80-year old woman's shopping mistake, etc. Why wouldn't Dunham fire this guy? Hire someone else who will put customers and employees first. You will be better off. read more

Went to return a backpack that I purchased on March 19th because it was defective and was accused of abusing it by the store manager this morning. The first day I used it a strap broke when I was tightening it. By the fourth day the seams were coming apart in several locations. The store manager said she could only call the manufacturer for me and wouldn't take the return. Just took it to the Waterford store and they took the return without any questions or accusations as they clearly could tell it was defective. The West Bloomfield Store should have a serious discussion with the manager about her attitude toward customers. Will never go in that store ever again!! read more

The terrible store, the terrible service. The manager refused to accept return or exchange the paddle I bought few days ago. After just one trial I found that paddle are actually for kids and too short for me. There were no indication that paddle was for kids. The same story was for Life jacket which actually was a bad fit or bad design I am not sure. Manager was stubbornly rejected all my attempts constantly repeating that it is store policy which was appeared on the back of receipt not any were in store. Everything look very stupid and against good practice of decent stores. So I was very disappointed and would never ever go to Duhnam to buy stuff. read more

I went to Dunhams to get my daughter basketball shoes and the variety was very poor. There was Black UA and Blue Adidas thats all. I could not find a sales rep and it was empty. I have to say they are very good with honoring coupons and matching prices. read more

I am the father of four boys and frequently shop at Dunham's for many of their sporting and athletic clothing needs. On Saturday (06/16), My wife and I took our family to the The Riviera Cinema in Farmington Hills. We had 45 min to spare, so we walked over to Dundam's located in the same shopping center. Among other things that I purchased, my boys bought the skateboards with their own funds. Later that day, we realized that one of the skateboards was defective and wanted to take it back. We went to West Bloomfield store, which is 5 min away from our house. Even though I had the receipt and the packaging, the store manager, Andrew, absolutely refused to take the skateboard back. He claimed that the packaging material has been removed and he will not take it under any circumstances. He told me that I had to go back to the store that I purchased the item and "hope" they will take it back. This was at 8:30 pm. My 10-year old son was very confused and asked me if he did something wrong by taking the defective skateboard back. He even offered to buy another one with his own funds. At this point, it was no longer about the $22.51. I took him back to Farmington Hills store so he knew that he did not do anything wrong. The guys at Farmington Hills store were very helpful and explained that we could return at any Dundam's store. I took my time to write this message, because I want you to know why I will no longer shop at Dundum's. I know Andrew is not aware that I spent thousands of dollars at Dunham's over the years, because all four of my boys are athletically active and Dunham's is the closest store to our house, but it should not be relevant. I wouldn't even care about his behavior and showing off his ego in front of the store employees, but he made my son feel that he was doing something wrong. That led to the loss of a paying customer and a very pissed off father. read more

I have to disagree with all the horrible, one star reviews slated in this column.I was looking for an authentic Winter Classic Datsuyk hockey jersey for my son for Christmas. The manager and another sales associate went out of their way to track one down from another store (after I had called around to no avail) and had it brought over to the West Bloomfield store so I did not have to drive to Ann Arbor to pick it up. On another occasion, 3 different sales associates helped me to find 180 ear muffs and warm insulated gloves in the size I needed. Every sales person has gone out of their way to help, when needed. They were all efficient, personable and very customer friendly. Their service is just as good, if not better than competitor Dick's Sports. I will shop here before heading out to Novi. read more
