There were 3 or 4 people seated at the bar area to the right of the door. We finally inquired about seating, and worked a seating arrangement so we had one table of 5, one table of 4. The server made a big show of showing us the menu and naming the items in the pastry case.  Then she took drink orders.  The lattes took a very long time to arrive.  Eventually, we were able to give our food order. After waiting some time after all our meals were finished, we flagged someone down and asked for our check.  We were told our server was working on it. A few more minutes passed, she eventually emerged from the back and asked if we wanted to cash out.  We immediately said yes. Instead of giving us the check, she began clearing the tables.  When we finally got the bill, it was one summary bill, not itemized.    She eventually offered a view of an itemized receipt on her little handheld device while saying, "The 25% tip is XX."  I was flabbergasted. Things overall could have been easier if she'd done one check for each table.  I have no idea why she combined both tables into one larger check.  Our party didn't help by mixing card and cash payments. Two tables were seated, ordered, ate and vacated as we were getting and finishing our food. This is not acceptable. The food was good, the atmosphere is cute, the parking lot was decently sized and there is some street parking available as well.

The Scandinavian almond cupcake is a bit sweet for me but has a strong almond flavor. You can find a variety of local food , Scandinavian, and other gifts at the store too. It's a nice place to get a gift on the way to visiting someone. They have dairy products and other perishables as well. There's some outdoor seating at the store and the abundance of flowers outside was a nice touch. I guess, hence, the Kitchen Garden... Service was friendly and helpful. I wished they had some limpa or Finnish rye, but I came pretty late in the day. Maybe I'll try the ice cream sometime, though it's from Bliss over in Attleboro, which is closer to Boston. This general store is a nice stop along Route 2.

The maple toast was sweet, delicious and just what I wanted today. A cute place where you can sit out on the sidewalk or inside the cute little coffee shop you order at the bar. They call out your name for coffee and bring your dish to you. Everybody was nice and welcoming. Now when I walk into a building looking at me you can tell which way I voted and inside this place 99% of the people voted in a different direction. That doesn't bother me and it didn't bother them. They treated me with welcoming spirit and a wonderful meal. All I could think of is I woke up for breakfast but what did I care? Wonderful meal with wonderful people in a great little town. I popped in around 730 am because I saw the magic word, "bagels" on a FB post. I received a warm welcome, and I couldn't wait to dig in to an Asiago bagel with cream cheese. I chose a fancy iced coffee with chocolate and lavender. Both were delicious. The bagel was perfectly toasted and nicely presented in a paper container. I sat in the window area. This terrific little breakfast was only $7.50 before tax! I plan to return tomorrow for a lunch sandwich. I feel very grateful to have a fun spot for coffee, tea, smoothies, and light fare in the town.
