We had a mixed experience here, as seems to be the trend lately. Our group of 9 arrived about 11:15.  Our group was a little bigger than we'd expected and we didn't call ahead.  No one greeted or acknowledged us as they were cleaning two recently vacated tables. There were 3 or 4 people seated at the bar area to the right of the door. We finally inquired about seating, and worked a seating arrangement so we had one table of 5, one table of 4. The server made a big show of showing us the menu and naming the items in the pastry case.  Then she took drink orders.  The lattes took a very long time to arrive.  Eventually, we were able to give our food order. After waiting some time after all our meals were finished, we flagged someone down and asked for our check.  We were told our server was working on it. A few more minutes passed, she eventually emerged from the back and asked if we wanted to cash out.  We immediately said yes. Instead of giving us the check, she began clearing the tables.  When we finally got the bill, it was one summary bill, not itemized.    She eventually offered a view of an itemized receipt on her little handheld device while saying, "The 25% tip is XX."  I was flabbergasted. Things overall could have been easier if she'd done one check for each table.  I have no idea why she combined both tables into one larger check.  Our party didn't help by mixing card and cash payments. Two tables were seated, ordered, ate and vacated as we were getting and finishing our food. This is not acceptable. The food was good, the atmosphere is cute, the parking lot was decently sized and there is some street parking available as well. read more

You guys what happened today? I came here after seeing so many enticing and beautiful photos on their Facebook page of what seem like incredibly delicious baked goods and coffee- I even saw a great espresso machine. I was happy and eager to try and feeling positive when I pulled up and saw they were busy as well as a nice outside area for my dogs and I to enjoy after. Sadly that's where the good ends here - I walked in and saw tables to the left, a cash register, to the center a bakery case with a menu behind it and laid out on top of the case and to my right another bar with seats and a menu laid out on the far end of it with a cooler of soda. Behind the cash register someone was being checked out and behind the bar area there were two women chatting. I was not greeted by anyone. I approached the bakery case and picked up the menu . Reading it for a few minutes-more patrons walk in and the cashier finishes checking out that person. I look up and around and see that the several people seated were also looking around for waitstaff. Ok they are busy I'm waiting patiently and admiring their pretty looking muffins ... more minutes go by .. I stand by the bar now - the two women are still chatting - stopping only when the door opens but they say NOTHING or acknowledge no one at all, including myself standing right in front of them! Another patron walks in, looking just as confused as I was before approaching the far end of the bar as soon as she walked in. Not 2 mins later the rest of her family walk in thinking they are going to be sat down, and just as confused as the rest of us, they are ignored as well by those chatty women that see all of us in the dining area and right in front of them not knowing what to do or where to order and not even a "hello". Meanwhile there is a young lady bussing a table and is stopped by the family to ask if they seat themselves- she says yes but breakfast just ended a couple minutes ago, but they have the bakery case and some bagels and cream cheese and a single lunch special. At this juncture I was pretty annoyed but staying cool and I just wanted to order a coffee and get out. But what made me leave right after all that was those two women that just let their fellow employees flounder around them instead of a simple " we'll be right with you" or a standard " we are understaffed - thanks for waiting" or maybe taking my order or asking if myself or anyone else needed anything - the poor busser had to deal with us and I just didn't know it was that hard or big of a deal to get a coffee. Maybe again sometime but I honestly went far out of my way to come here and show my support for a local coffee spot because places like Starbucks are destroying the quality mom n pop place. So disappointing as I didn't get to even try anything, albeit the pastry just looked wonderful. read more

I'm sure I will not be visiting again, I waited quite some time before anyone even came to the front of the store to greet me, and that was only because she heard me ask the other customers where the waitstaff is, but then there were only about 3 pastry's to choose from, I did drive a bit out of the way to visit, and I was hoping to post a Tik Tok of the business but there was nothing to record, thank you. read more

This is a really cute little café. I love the creative seating with seats on both sides of a high bar. The woman working the whole area was doing her best to keep up but service was a tad slow. They do take cash or card which is great because not all little places out in nowhere do! The prices for some things seem to be a bit too high though. They charge $2 extra just for cream cheese and the price difference between a bagel with cream cheese and a bagel with egg and cheese is only $2 more! The muffins were amazingly good - the best I have ever had! They were so soft and filled with berries. But the banana bread was very dense and tasted like flower. The coffee was strong enough that the ice didn't water it down but it was just OK. read more

Always an incredible experience eating here. I've travelled all over the world and I've never seen such an innovative concept like the coffee flight. We've been following Spotted Cow since they were at the farm. Love this brand and will continue to come back time and again. Rachel makes the entire place feel like you're in someone's kitchen and the attention to detail is incredible. Also, I have no complaints about the price. It's nothing compared to a big city, and I understand with inflation, just how much it takes to support local businesses. FIVE STARS from me. Will be back again and again. read more

To me, this cafe is worth the stop. All the ladies are amazing and very helpful. I love her enthusiasm for her craft. I had the spinach and dill bagel with cream cheese and ham. Im from Dallas and ive never seen spinach and dill in a bagel like that. Amazing! Ham was super thick and loaded down! The coffee flight was fun to experience. Being from Dallas I don't see there being any issues with price. I prefer quality food with quality ingredients. I feel good after I eat here. The entire cafe is very cute and full of energy. This place is an entire vibe!!! Being from out of town I always make sure I stop here. Great food, upbeat atmosphere, definitely will be back! read more

Super cute place. Staff are so nice. Coffee was really good. They have muffins and some other snacks. Fresh brewed tea. Lots to choose from. In the store they have milk, eggs, fresh bread, honey. Some gifting items. There are a few tables to sit at and a table of different board games you can play. We went at night so we did not get to see the farm but were told you could walk around and feed the animals. Highly recommend this place. read more

Was our first time coming in to try it out and we were very excited as the cafe is very cute and the coffee sounds yummy. When we entered there were very few other people and we stood by the cash register as we assumed this is where we ordered and the young girl working said she would be right over to take our order. A group of about ten people came in after us and made a line elsewhere...instead of telling our group who had been waiting for about 8 minutes now she decided to just start taking everyone else's orders putting us now at the back of the line. When I asked as she said she would be right back she told me I was in the wrong spot and continues with the others. We decided to leave at that point because we would now be waiting for much much longer when we had been there and waiting first. Working customer service myself I was very upset we were just ignored instead of told how things worked. Was very disappointed and likely wont be trying to go back! :( read more

While driving through Rutland this morning, we passed a sign telling of a coffee shop by a farm. We stopped and found, The Spotted Cow Cafe. My husband and I went inside and met Rachel the Barista and Owner. This place was wonderful!! She can make any flavored coffee imaginable. Her baking skills are off the charts!! She starts baking at 2:00AM until 8:00AM EACH day she's open! I had her lemon doughnuts. The flavor and airy texture were delicious. My husband had her blueberry bis-scone! Her name for part biscuit and part scone. Oh, my goodness, it was fantastic!! Most scones are dry but not hers since she uses a biscuit dough with it. Her cafe is also a place to get ice cream, buy breads, bottle milk and Wrights Farm chicken pot pie! We bought a pot pie along with other baked sweets to take home! We will definitely be back when we are in town! read more

If your allergic to bees , hornets or wasps don't visit the ice cream window . Decades ago this place sold Coopers farm milk , Aristocrat chicken pot pies , had baked goods and was really really good . Fast forward to last weekend . Stopped in and two cups of ice cream each holding a scoop of ice cream $12 .Bees , wasps and hornets flying around our heads at the window . 90 degrees and it's now a coffee bar . Who ever owns this place needs to bring in some new visions . This place would be a great brewery or breakfast spot . read more
