A few folks were having brunch in the dining area, which was mainly decorated with fleur de lis banners. I overheard the chef calling out from the kitchen that they were out of red beans and rice, which sounded like it was a popular dish. There are lots of other Cajun-style offerings. Though it was a week after Easter when we went, the sign out front was still promoting Mardis Gras (50 days difference). When you walk in, there are pastries in one display case, but you walk further down to order, which made it a little awkward to say "hey, can we walk back down and I'll point to which baked goods I want?" But the guy behind the counter obliged and we picked out a few items. The pastries were fine. A croissant, pain au chocolat, and chocolate cookie were all good, but nothing spectacular or standout from what I might find elsewhere. If I come back, I think I'll try some of the sandwiches or breakfast items.

I tried the chocolate frosted donut, seasonal peach muffin, frosted twist, and chocolate blackout cake. They have a case for donuts and muffins, as well as a refrigerated section. The refrigerated section has a variety of whole cakes, cupcakes, and cheesecakes among others things. If you don't want to buy a whole cake, they have a selection of slices at the register. They also have ample seating inside and a drink case (with milk to wash down the chocolate goods!) if you want to eat in. The employees I interacted with were nice too. Will definitely be back.

Her go-to move is eating the icing first, and even that got shut down. The frosting had a crusty texture instead of being soft and creamy. The cakes themselves were dry. I've never seen her ask for milk with cupcakes, let alone take a sip after every bite. That's when it hit me -- maybe the mistake was trusting the pre-order to be fresh.
