But I don't think there's anything especially unique about them. Maybe it's just me. I don't really have a huge sweet tooth, so it takes something really amazing to impress me when it comes to pastries and the like. The cafe itself though didn't really do it for me either - it felt incredibly dated, like I'd teleported back to the 1980's. Typically, I'd even think that was charming... but I didn't feel the charm in this cafe either. Tattered bar stools and a couple booths were available for seating. Besides my friend and I going together for my most recent visit, there was only a family of 4 ordering some donuts... but otherwise, the place was empty. Even then, service felt a bit disorganized. The two employees switched back and forth between who they were paying attention to, and even then the employee who ended up coming to the counter didn't remember what the order was she had just filled. Ultimately, I think Ridge Donut Cafe probably caters more to the folks who grew up in the area and have some nostalgia for it than anything else. As a newer customer, I've tried it a couple times and always walked away thinking it was just okay. Will I visit again? Probably not... I've done my due diligence in trying this cafe, and I just don't have those memories / that nostalgia for it that locals do.

OMGGGGGG I have been wanting to try this place for a while and tonight I didn't want to cook and…read morefast food just wasn't going to do it. I ordered the fried catfish, the crawfish stouter, and the fried okra with a Hurricane to go. Food was ready quick quick quick. I live pretty close so I went to pick it up. The space was large, tucked away. It was clean and simple but the SMELL. The smell was the EXACT way you want a New Orleans restaurant to smell. If you have been down there and know how to cook Creole/Cajun, you know exactly what I mean. I got home and sipped the Hurricane and I was like oh it taste like orange juice then BAM! It hit me, it was adequately strong. And then I opened it and saw beautifully golden brown catfish and fried okra. I opened the etouffe and it smelled like the southern creole cooking I love. The taste was perfect, the okra was crispy, the catfish was soft and flaky, and the etouffe was beautifully smooth and flavorful. My only complaint was the catfish was like a filet and a half and not two filets. I just cannot believe the food is hidden in Rochester. I will be frequenting regularly!

They had salsa music playing which was cool and something different. Our waitress came a few minutes later to take our drink order and brought the corn tortilla chips which were still warm and very fresh along with the fresh salsa and we asked for guacamole dip which was also fresh and delicious. We ordered our main course, I ordered the vegetable fajitas they came out piping hot so that was good and they had a wide variety of vegetables no complaints from me on that one. It also came with a good sized portion of refried beans shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes and sour cream along with the Spanish rice one of my all time favorite ways to eat rice. My fiancée ordered the shrimp/steak/chicken fajitas and that also came out piping hot along with the plate of toppings. He said his was delicious as well. The manager came over to ask us how our food was which we gave him honest feedback and said it was delicious. We opted out of dessert but they did have a variety of delicious looking options. So overall a pleasant experience. We will definitely be back.
