Growing up eating Haitian food allowed my pallet to know good from bad. Haiti competing this year lead me to renew my exploration of local Haitian restaurants. I was able to learn of some new ones that participated in the fanfare downtown, and also learn about a few in the more suburban areas. I learned about La Citadelle Bakery from a Haitian influencer who is likely a fellow foodie. She spoke highly of La Citadelle Bakery and all the authentic, delicious meals that they make as well as baked goods. Everything looked appetizing and I had to add to La Citadelle to my list. Website allowed for viewing of the menu and on-line ordering. There were a few specials listed including the griot meal I ordered. I was able to select a pick up time and set with enough time to make a stop. Upon arrival my meal was boxed and bagged while I looked at the various items in the restaurant. Bakery items were displayed throughout on shelves and in cases. There were also pre-packaged items and beverages in the refrigerator. I added a package of fresh baked bread rolls and a jar of pikleaz to my order. My food was presented before bagging and included the gravy and a side of pikleaz. The food was prepared exactly as I had expected, and tasted scrumptious; each and every bite! The location is in close proximity to the downtown Lawrenceville area in the Crogan Center plaza. The plaza has ample parking for La Citadelle and its neighboring businesses.
