    Happy Easter!

Over the years , this Dunkin' Donuts (seconds off of highway 84) continues to provide high quality food, efficiently and with friendly service in a clean environment! I'm sure people traveling through Connecticut love this location !

This is a nice Dunk - so very Connecticut - beautiful landscaping, outdoor seating, lounge area with leather chairs & a fireplace with a steam gizmo that makes it look like fire. I walked in with my group & I went to get coffee while they queued up for the bathroom. The kid behind the register just stood there like a dope, no greeting, no acknowledgement, just confusion. He was wearing the uniform but looked so lost I wanted to ask him if he worked there. A girl came over & asked if she could help me, i guess he can't do anything. The coffee is bitter. I'm not sure I think it might be their crappy water in this state. Overall a very pretty Dunk with crappy coffee and blah service.

    No drive through

This particular Dunkin Donuts is the same as every other with the exception that there is no drive through! They told me the town would not authorize it. Makes the process of getting a coffee a little bit of a pain in the ass.

Always seem to get poor, slow service. Order one thing, get another. The physical location is nice, but I will be avoiding this DD.

I should've taken a picture. It would say much more than my words. Either way, my wife ordered the…read moreberry pancake special and it was incredibly good. I ordered two poached eggs, bacon, and home fries. The bacon was fine, a little chewy but some people like that. The home fries, again, fine. But, the eggs we cold and disgusting. Poached eggs, by their very nature, are cooked uniformly. Unlike fried eggs, they are submerged in water and cooked all the way around. These eggs came back with uncooked whites that resembled mucus. I'm sure the eggs were sitting there, waiting on the other orders to be fulfilled. Not wanting to be a hassle, I plowed through, scooping the cold uncooked whites to the side and discovered a piece of not so small egg shell in it. I told the waitress there was an egg shell in the eggs, they were a bit undercooked and cold. Instead of receiving an apology or accommodations, she said she'll share the info with the owner. I was then given an excuse as to why there was an egg shell in the eggs "we use farm fresh eggs and they're very fragile". I use farm fresh eggs at home, they are fragile. It doesn't take more than a moment to remove the shell before cooking and serving it to a customer. She didn't remove the meal from the ticket or discount it and she never apologized. Like I said, just an excuse. All that being said, the place is beautiful, indoors and outside. My wife's pancake was delicious. I'm sure many things on the menu are delicious. They also seemed short staffed. And I won't wright a place off because of one meal and one server. Could be an off day for the chef/cook. The server isn't a always an indicator of the restaurant's values. I do wish she was more accommodating - especially at those prices - but it could've been a perfect storm of being short staffed, rushed cook, and a server that doesn't care.

So decided to give another go to some places that need another try. The space inside is decorated well, it's very homey and plenty of tables. The server was very nice and had recommendations when asked. I opted for the raspberry beignets and the bananas foster French toast. Food came out quickly, and I took my pics and dug in. The raspberry beignets were pretty much donut holes covered in raspberry and vanilla sauce. The raspberry filling was there, but wasn't very pronounced. For 3 bucks a beignets, it's very expensive. But it was sweet enough and fried fresh. The observant will note that the French toast looks a lot like pancakes. They specify on the menu that you can choose either, but either I was never asked which I wanted or I failed to advocate for my preference. I decided to roll with it, since it could be a mistake from either end. Pancake batter was overworked, bananas were slightly warmed up but done so on the griddle. Picked up the onion funk from their home fries, leading to a rather unpleasant bite. Quality issues can be overlooked if the price is reasonable. For 28 dollars for two dishes, the price is way too high for what I got. As a local breakfast spot, there's not many around that area. If you need breakfast and are unwilling to drive another 5-10 minutes for other options, the food is okay and portions are reasonable. It's pricy, stick to the savory, and don't expect more than the basics.

The bread is fully carbonized. Not "crispy." Not "extra toasted." Burnt. Black. Bitter. The kind of toast that crunches like a bad decision. Which is tragic, because the avocado and bacon on top are actually fine--almost good--but they're sitting on what can only be described as charcoal with toppings. Convince me the person making this did not know. I'll wait... I only uncovered the arson after getting home, but given that this was actually served to a customer I doubt there'd be any empathy offered had I returned to the store. I suspect the response to me pointing it out would have been a masterclass in not giving a single fuck, maybe a blank stare and the subtle energy of "that sounds like a you problem." If apathy were a menu item, it would be the daily special. Mistakes happen. Burnt toast happens. Not caring and serving it to a customer anyway...that's a choice. Latte was mediocre, because of course this is Dunkin. But between the scorched food and the obvious aggressively indifferent staff, this was a full miss. Do better--or at least pretend to care.

Good doughnuts, basic toppings, great owner…read more Came here because we knew the owner from a local pizza spot that always looked after us when we would stop by. He decided to branch out and make a tiny donut shop, so we wanted to swing by and give him a try. The shop is small, designed more for your pick up and go crowd. The signage is a little small, so you will need to know where to go to find it. The selection of donuts is akin to specialty cookie shops. They keep a standard selection of doughnuts on demand but also rotate out a few types to keep things fresh. You order your doughnuts with the cashier, and then get to watch your doughnuts get dipped and packed right in front of you. We got a dozen of these little doughnuts. Took our pics then dug in. As a doughnut, they are good. They are a cake doughnut with a little vanilla in the batter to give it a mellow buttery floral flavor note. Not majorly noticeable, but just enough to make it better than just straight up cake. The best bite was the strawberry shortcake. Fresh strawberries with a light whipped cream gives that flavor profile one would expect from a very solid strawberry shortcake. The rest were of varying states of okay for the toppings. The maple bacon was good, the local maple glaze was very maple forward and tasty. The bacon crumbles needed to be cooked more. They were a little too soft and chewy for that style of doughnut. The doughnuts with chocolate syrup needs a better chocolate syrup. Would probably replace with a chocolate drizzle instead. Would hold up better if not eaten immediately. Some of the glazes were not made in house, and were a bit too strong for some of the other toppings on them. They will need to figure out a way to tweak these glazes to not be overpowering. As a destination spot I would expect an elevated product, and this shop is not set up to be elevated just yet. It's set up to be a local morning doughnut place, which is valid but will need to fight to get people to see them. There's some promise to this business idea. They will need to commit to either a boutique tiny doughnut shop or a local pick up and on demand delivery spot. Either one could work, but they need to find their footing first. For those interested in trying this place, it's a good spot for a little sweet treat. Stick to the non-chocolate flavors, get enough to share, and enjoy!
