I highly recommend Dunn & Son Funeral Home to everyone in the DMV area. The entire staff was truly outstanding. Theresa Dunn and her daughter, Brianna, are two of the most gracious and compassionate people I have ever met. I first met Theresa in 2014 when my family entrusted Dunn & Son Funeral Home with my mother's services, and then again the following year for my grandmother. Most recently, I had to bury my daughter, and once again, everyone showed my family so much kindness, care, and compassion during one of the hardest moments of our lives. The staff was amazing not only to me, but also to my granddaughters, who could not stop talking about how wonderful Brianna was to them. It brings tears to my eyes to say that I trusted no one else with my precious daughter's remains except Theresa and Brianna Dunn. They treated her with dignity, love, and respect, and made her look absolutely beautiful. I am forever grateful for the comfort and care they provided to my family. I used Dunn and Son funeral services several times before for my sister, step father, and 2 uncles. But, this time I was burying my mother. I was pleased with their services up until this year. One they had jumped up by 3,000 dollars in just two years and they blamed the Trump administration, but that's another story. When I used them in the past they were affiliated with a church that services could held, however since then they have bought a old bank to have services. One, when I asked to see the location first I was told that I could see the location the day before the funeral, that was done on purpose because had I seen that location first I never would have had my mother's services there!! The place in the front still looks very much like a bank, with the drive thru still attached. The parking lot has so many potholes it's ridiculous. The space that's used for the service looks like a cabaret or ballroom instead of a chapel, but that's so they can cash in on multiple events for that space. I was told that it seats 300 people and I was expecting pews and instead got 300 old looking painted and rocky unstable chairs that clearly was purchased on clearance. Upon entering you get the funeral home feel until you get to the actual room that the funeral is being held in and they dropped the ball!! There is a huge white horse in there that serves no purpose what so ever!! We had to ask them to move it and because it was so huge it couldn't be taken out , only moved to the back of the room. If this place is going to be used for funerals then it should reflex that, instead I got a party room feel from that. They need to do better if they are not going to be affiliated with a church. I laid in bed crying for two weeks because I was so disappointed and feeling like I didn't do right by my mother and I can't change any of it!!. I will carry this guilt for the rest of my life. She convinced us to use her site because she stated that churches are now charging 2,000 dollars and their site is cheaper. One, they need to remove the drive thru, two, get rid of the 300 chairs and replace them with pews, three completely remove that unnecessary horse!! Plus, make it look more like a chapel, stay with doing funerals that's their lane, not parties!! I was very much disappointed and displeased with the services provided for my mom. She deserved soooo much better. As far as the service done on her body. Great job. No complaints in that area. I have since inform my family not to use Dunn and Sons for my funeral or anyone else's in the family. They just lost future business with my family. I an a little late with this review because I was so distraught for the past month ans a half. My mom services was August 20th. I'm so disappointed!! read more

I have attended several funeral services hosted by Dunn & Sons. Not sure if I've ever met the Sons however the leading lady, has always been on point. Her sugar plum darling greeting always brings a smile to my face. They are very professional and provide outstanding service. I have also recommended their services to many love ones and friends, when in need. Their prices are competitive, often receiving much more value for the expense. This has been the worst experience ever burying a loved one!!! No communication! No notice for viewing of body, no obituary's the day of funeral now going on a week after funeral and obituary haven't even been ordered and neither have the death certificates. If I could give them negative 4 stars I would very unprofessional I don't recommend anyone use their services!! Do not go! All they care about is overbooking and rushing you through the funeral. No concern for family/friends grieving. Constantly asking people to sit down as large amounts of people were just walking in and consoling family members. Then right after it was over rushing us all to leave because another funeral was about to take place. No sooner than we stood up we were asked to exit. Very small room for the funeral. No pews just 3 small rows of chairs. Losing a loved one is something that we all hate to deal with and the last thing you want is to be rushed at a funeral. It is your last time to see your loved one and to be told to sit down and then to leave immediately after standing up. Ridiculous! read more

If I could give this establishment a negative 1 star I would. If you are thinking about using their services, think again! They don't know the meaning of customer service. For a company who claims to have been in business as long as they have, they don't even provided the bare minimum of following through on calls or service. The offer of same day service is completely false. You will have to call them for every single thing they offer to do. No sense of urgency or concern just excuses and more excuses. The loss of my loved one was made even more unbearable by using this funeral home. Once they have your payment--expect to get days of run around and excuse after excuse for why they have not gotten back to you or delivered on what was promised. Buyer BEWARE!! At a time when it is most important to be consoled and attended to,I feel badly for the two families that did not recieve solace for thier loved ones they so deserved.Quite the contrary with my experiences with services for my mother in 2013 and my brother this october 2017,the Dunns could not have been more personable,accomodating,and profesional for both instances.Mr and Mrs. Dunn and thier children always treated with respect,console,and empathy. I cannot say enough good things about this business and my experience was opposite of what was written in the negative reviews. From the moment we walked into the door, Theresa (the owner) dropped everything, escorted us into a private room and gave us her undivided attention. She gave details, options and advice without any heavy selling or persuasion. After speaking with her at that first meeting, we felt comfortable working with her. Having gone through this funeral process for another family member a few years earlier, I thought I knew what to expect. Dunn and Sons exceeded these expectations. She understood our challenges and help us schedule and meet deadlines. She even pitched in and took care of tasks that we were not able to get to without any extra cost, which was amazing. When I look back on the experience of having to deal with these tasks and grieving for a loved one, it was painful and numbing, but Theresa's services helped me keep myself together. They were patient, kind and overly accommodating. Friends and Family commented positively on the funeral and were impressed with the results of Theresa and her family's work and professionalism. My sister was absolutely beautiful. Third party vendors she recommended were equally as professional and provided quality products. I completely disagree with the previous reviews! We had our little girl cremated here and we had so much kindness and support from Dunn and Sons. We tried other funeral homes to compare with and I was disgusted the way other funeral homes handled us by their phone manner and what felt like disinterest. Also i was shocked how they wanted to charge a huge amount of money for the cremation of our tiny baby girl. Dunn and Sons treated us so well and were so genuinely sympathetic for our loss. They delicately dealt with our situation and gave us an incredible discount. Dunn and Sons care about how your loved one is treated and have the utmost respect for the family and situation, what ever that may be.
