Bill Gross, Mike and everyone at Rausch were all so supportive and helpful to my mother and I when setting up my father's memorial service. They had everything we needed to display mementos and show our electronic photo displays and helped make a beautiful experience for all of us. We had a particular difficulty in getting an out of state cremation urn to the service on time and Bill took the burden from us by working directly with the cremation service and the delivery company including rushing to pick up the urn early in the morning of the service. Broomes Island location,pulling into the parking lot, no signage or clue that someone was assisting with paeking. People walking ro the entrance as I slowly pull through. Woman bangs on my vehicle to get my attention citing a small parking lot. Get inside and my wife can't take her coat off due to inadequate HVAC. read more

It is with great pleasure that I leave a great review for the great service from Bill and the team at Rausch funeral home in Owings. My mother lost her battle and was very frail when she passed. His daughter in law did a phenomenal job on her and seeing my mother look as good as she did made the loss of her that much easier to deal with. Bill was extremely hands on from start to finish. I seriously wish to God that I could leave 0 stars and I hope that by leaving this review that I can save others from having to use their services. I had a service scheduled with them and we were separated. That is fine but they showed up an hour after us and didn't even bother to call or answer their phone. All they said was traffic. SERIOUSLY?!? One word does not absolve you from arriving over an hour late. Never again. read more

My Grandmother unfortunately passed last Thursday and my Mother had the burden of handling my Grandmother's affairs. For no specific reason she chose Rausch Funeral Home to (mis)handle the services. She will NOT be using them again, and will regret doing so for a long, long time. They have multiple rooms for "services" and we must have gotten the short stick. The room was dirty. The tables weren't wiped down or cleaned from the previous service. The floor wasn't vacuumed and there were several balled up tissues in plain sight around the room. They told my Mother they'd have easels to display pictures and memories; when she got there the day of the "services" and asked for them, they gave her some old piece of cardboard with holes cut in it for pictures. As if the snot rags weren't bad enough, the gentleman whose job it was to open the door and greet guests did a crap job of the first and very little (if any) of the second. When my Wife, Daughters, and I first arrived he had a toothpick in his mouth that he was twisting (or possibly actually picking his teeth) with his hand. He grunted and pointed to the rear of the facility, where I could see various friends and family. He did, at least, ask if I wanted to hang my coat up. The cherry on this crap sundae was the fact that my Grandmother did NOT want an open casket So my Mother arranged for the immediate family to be able to see her and say our goodbyes for the 30 mins before services were to start. Rausch agreed and also pointed out that there would be no need to embalm her since it was to be a closed casket... needless to say, they never closed the casket. It remained open the entire time and was STILL open when my family left. My Parents were charged $4000 for the use of there dirty facility and lack luster services ALONE. That's not including casket, the donation to the Pastor, etc.. Rausch should be a Bingo Hall or a VFW, NOT a place you pay large sums of money to say goodbye to your loved ones. read more

I was blindsided by my mothers death and chose Rausch because I work for a large medical practice and have heard the local name before, what a huge letdown this was in a time of grieving. I came into a parlor room that had not been vacuumed or cleaned, the tables were dirty and all glass tops needed to be cleaned, I wanted to leave and call the whole thing off but could not unfortunately do to the fact that people had started to arrive. The casket was suppose to be closed at 1pm because my mom was un embalmed but co workers and friends arrived and no one showed up to close it until most everyone was there so decided just to leave it open at that point. I had to ask for a guest book which I thought came with the "package" if that's what you want to call it, very very disappointed in Rausch and the grumpy man with the toothpick hanging out of his mouth while greeting guests should be shown the door himself, one positive note, Michael was very nice but other than that I can't say anything positive about this establishment and will never use or recommend them to anyone. I feel as if we didn't spend the amount of money they wanted us to and we were being punished because we did not get all the bells and whistles. Very sad experience. read more
