Stopped by because I'm looking for a UV protective clear paint for an item I just restained that will be in the sun often. When I entered I was greeted with a cheerful hello! I explained what I was looking for and they showed me the two UV protective varnishes but he explained that they're meant for outdoors and would smell too much for a prolonged time what I need for. We have a very vibrant wall paper design that will be above the painted wall. Rona picked out the most unusual color for the paint and it looks amazing. We would never even have considered it. She took the time, went to the colors, went through what I had that I loved and what I was looking for, and it looks like we found the perfect paint. We were having trouble deciding what combination of colors to use when their colorist, Ellen Knowles, who had heard our conversation with the salesperson, came over to us and introduced herself. Ellen was AMAZING to say the least. Her expertise with colors was right on. My wife was so relieved and grateful that we met her. We showed her photos our our house and she helped us pick out the best paint colors. She then took our photos and superimposed the paint colors showing us how our house would look. She was spot on with her color selections and layout !!!!! I still stop in front our our house and say WOW !!! Our company have been Dunn Edwards customer for a very long time, over 20 years. We are family owned cabinet shop in Chatsworth, and our usual go to location is Mission Hills, where employees are always courteous, helpful and professional. The reason we usually shop in Mission Hills store, they are mixing custom lacquers, which most stores don't do. Today I needed to order gallon of hybrid paint urgently so I called Reseda / Nordhoff store with DE5755 code color to place an order. Little known fact, Dunn Edwards offers special pricing for professional contractors (unlike walk-in customers). In order to get special pricing sales person needs to call DE local sales rep to approve discounts. There I was calling with my order, asking employee who wrote it to call my sales rep for special pricing (I have DE sales reps coming to my shop assuring me that they will give me best deal no matter one gallon or 20 , just make a call!) Employee flat out refuses to call sales rep saying that "price is what it is, not negotiable". 4 hours later, as I am driving to DE store to pick up my paint, I am calling my sales rep, Jimmy to confirm my price. He assures me, that as soon as I get to the store he will make sure my cost is adjusted to best possible. Now I am at the store, calling my sales rep again... He is "not at home, at his car", but if I wait for a while he will get back to me. After working on installation for 10 hours I don't really want to hang out at the store waiting for discount. So I am reluctantly paying the presented price. All that is fine, stuff happens. What is not fine, is Kevin giving me HUGE attitude, pointing finger at me, laughing and making fun of me, telling me "I told you won't get any price adjustment", basically humiliating me in front of one other employee and store manager, who chose not to stop him, but kept quiet trying to pretend being busy with some paperwork. In my 23 years of doing business I have never been so humiliated ever being a customer! I am filing formal complaint against Kevin's behavior (not only being rude and obnoxious towards me, but for failing to call sales rep right away to confirm the price at ordering time as he supposed to). My advice to professional contractors - go across the street to Catalina Paint store. They will treat you right and won't give you stink attitude Kevin's style. Had a great experience at this particular Dunn Edwards. I already knew which colors I had in mind... the representive was very helpful. I picked up two 5 gallons of paint for the outside of my house and a gallon for the molding. All of which were sufficient for the job. It's taken too long for me to write this because I've been mired down in a major home renovation project I was in over my head in. But I have to rave about Rona, at the Northridge Dunn Edwards store. She's the color specialist there and was the ray of sunshine I needed to get me get through a nightmare home renovation. I'm a first time home owner and took on painting the entire house (with no clue what to do) so I could spend my small renovation budget elsewhere. I spent countless hours at Lowes, Home Depot, Sherwin Williams, and others trying different paint samples because nothing looked the same on the walls as it did in the store. Rona helped me pick out exactly what I needed right away. I brought samples of my couch color and flooring. She showed me how the sample would look different under different color changes of light at different times of day. Then she helped pick out just the right tools, floor coverings, etc. I would need to complete the job. Plus if your contractor has an account at Dunn Edwards, they can get a discount. There's a reason that Dunn Edwards is the contractor's store. The paint is better quality than Lowes or Home Depot and with my contractor's discount it was cheaper and lasted longer. Much longer. It seems like 1 can of Dunn Edwards would cover as much as 2 cans of any other paint. In the end, I purchased at least 20 samples of paint before Rona was able to recommend just what I wanted in the first try. I wish I'd found her sooner! She even recommended this wonderful peel and reuse swatch paper you can paint and test the colors you want on the wall before buying. I found this to be more helpful then the poster board I was trying to swatch with on my own. Rona is my hero! read more

We showed up 20 minutes before 5 (closing time) and they wouldn't do a paint match for us!! Headed to Home Depot directly afterwards & had the color I needed matched exactly & mixed up within 5 minutes!! AND the paint was cheaper!! I am extremely dissatisfied with this store! My experience was so bad that I had to go out of my way to actually write this review (which I never do, but I do not want this experience to happen to anyone again, especially females. Heads up!). After stripping my in-laws front door three different times and repainting perfectly, before finally surrendering, I found out they gave me paint that was never going to work from the start. Then, to top it off the company headquarters emailed me saying they were so sorry and never got back to me after they asked me to send my purchase total. Very disappointing on how sexist they are with females and taking advantage. They gave me the most expensive paint to start off. They never offer me a second choice. Here it is in December and this all happened in about June. I still haven't heard from them to this day. I will never shop there again. If I could give zero stars as a rating I would! read more

Come on guys....ordered a gallon of paint, was told it would be 5 minutes. I had to run a few errands so I asked if I could come back and grab it. I was told it would be ready....30 mins later went back to pick it up, they had not even started it yet. I was annoyed because I was on my lunch break, the woman at the counter apologized (she was very nice) in front of what looked like a manager. He didn't even look up...I realize things happen and I am very understanding when it comes things like this but to not even acknowledge a customer.... poor customer service. read more

The workers are rude and there is no customer service. After paying I asked how how long it would take for 5 sample colors and got a response of "I'll try my best". Four customers after us had left with their paint and 1hour later, I was told it's ready and I'm still waiting for another 15 minutes. They then tell me one of the paint colors is not working. Called five different stores in LA County looking for a product for a large commercial job. I actually went into the store on old road and recieved no customer service at all. I will be purchasing over 100 kits over a two thousand dollar purchase on this one job for one specific product not including other sundries. Rocky at the store located in NorthRidge CA help us avoid wasting massive amounts of time and frustration by utilizing his exceptional customer care skills. I appriciate his approach and business demeanour and if it wasnt for his professionalism and courtesy we would have went ahead and ordered through the internet. I've been recently remodeling my home with my husband and we've been coming to Dunn Edwards for the past month or so. The associates have been super helpful with my indecisiveness towards paint colors lol. The price of their paint is a little bit more then the big box stores but we are for quality and not for saving a buck when it comes to our investment. Plus they offer courtesy discounts and have more then enough grades of paint. My father in-law had his house painted with Dunn Edwards paint over 20 years ago and finally had the exterior repainted 6 months ago. Now that's durability! One bit of advice: don't go after 4pm because that's when it looks like a ton of painters come in and shop. Overall I like my little neighborhood paint store =) read more

Bad Customer Service! I am a contractor and have been a customer for many years. I am very unhappy with the service I have received from the Manager, John. He has written me up twice in the last month. Today I went in and he was helping me, I asked him for a price on spartawall. The prices sounded too high and I told him that both times so I decided to wait for Michelle. She figured out the problem, he was writing me up under the WRONG ACCOUNT! Michelle apologized about the situation and told me that she could return it and refund me the difference(which she did). I decided to let John know that I was unhappy with the situation and that it only happens when he has helped me but while I was talking he pretty much dismissed me and turned to Michelle to ask what happened, then said "Well That's the number you gave me"even though I give the same number to all the other associates and they get it right. Pretty much blaming me for the problem. I expect more from Management but it seemed like the Associate was more eager to solve my problem than he was. read more

Paint didn't match the color from a couple years ago, but the manager here was fantastic in fixing it for us. I was really impressed with how Rocky handled customers as I was waiting. A note about the service - this chain is much more geared towards contractors than consumers, which could be where some of the complaints are coming from about service. My husband and I had a GREAT experience with the staff at this Northridge location. They answered all our questions and made us feel comfortable. When we weren't happy with a color they took it back. Ed was the one that helped us out on our first visit and was understanding with our indecisiveness and guided us with what we were looking for. At the time they were running a discounted price with their top of the line paint- Everest. I'm glad he told us about it as others would've probably made us pay full price since we didn't know anything about it. Then we went back on a Monday morning when it's their busiest time and I was helped right away by Michelle and Alex. They remembered me and knew what I needed. They even honored the coupon that was given to me after it expired. (Thanks Rocky!) since our contractor needed more paint than what he initially estimated we went back at least 4x and I was always helped with amazing customer service.
