I also wanted a second set of eyes to check all my work and inspect everything once in a while, so I dropped my bike off at Fairfax Cycles. The main service I requested was to replace the front fork and exchange the fork and brake oils. I bought the Ohlins fork from Partszilla and dropped it off at the shop. I was missing some other small parts needed, and they were able to order it for me. I had a budget I wanted to stick to, and they were able to work with me to meet my budget and the services I needed. They were very flexible. For the amount of work done on my bike, I'd say the price was fair. The place is very busy all year round, though. Please set your expectations. You'll likely have to wait to get serviced. You'll also need to pick up ASAP. I felt good about all the services performed on the bike. The installed Ohlins fork makes the bike so much better. Will I come back, a definite yes.

Over $300 later, I drive it home and after a few miles, the tire still has issues. I reached out and the gentlemen agreed to come onsite to fix it. He never showed up without any notice. I then took it to an authorized Yamaha mechanic who told me "someone put an inner tube in your tire, a tire that does not require an inner tube". This was not only extremely dangerous but did damage to my bike which cost me even more money. I've reached out several times trying to resolve this amicably. I asked for a partial refund on the labor and the charge for the inner tube. He refused. Then he said he would. Then he said he would give me $100 back. Then he said he would give me the entire amount back but over a payment plan. I agreed and then payment never came. I would not recommend this place to someone as they do not know something as essential as mopeds do not get inner tubes into tires.

And when I have had to pay, it's always been crazy cheap. I get the sense he does this for the fun of it and not for the money. He stated a preference for working on Asian scooters, he owns a couple of Kymco People 50s, and of course motorcycles (he had a Rebel 250 in the shop when I dropped by). On my first call he was honest about his unavailability, he has very limited working space, but he called back about a week later letting me know that I was welcome to drop the bike off. Unlike at repair shops, available means he's ready to work on your bike right away. Dropped off a Honda Metropolitan II, long ago seceded to my gf, and got a call the next day saying the bike was ready to be picked up - new tires and an oil change for a very reasonable price. If you want to save time, bring him the parts he'll need to do the work (we brought him tires and synthetic oil of the right viscosity). When we picked up the scoot he made sure to mention some warning signs he noticed while working on the bike and advised us to keep an eye on an oil leak, all of which was appreciated. Have yet to bring in a scooter or motorcycle requiring a major repair or diagnosis but I'll report back when/if I do.

Josh has done several regular maintenance services (5k, 10k and 15k mile) on my 03 FLSTCI. I found this bike with 4k miles on it a couple of years ago, and Josh has maintained it ever since. This services were timely, my bike was clean with no leaks, and the bike always rode better when I got it back. When you want engine modifications and other modifications, Josh is your guy. Last year Josh upgraded my engine with a big bore kit (88" to 95"), performance cams and hydraulic cam tensioners with double scavenging high-volume oil pump. He also installed an auto-adjust primary chain adjuster. Currently, Josh is working with me on a handbag conversion on my Heritage Softail. Later in the year, it will be powder coating wheels, front end and some engine parts, as well as ceramic coating the exhaust. If you have a Harley-Davidson, The Power Speed Shop is where you have to go for routine services, repairs, upgrades and customizations.
