Can't emphasize enough how terrible this place is -- dishonest, incompetent, or both. I paid them $800 to thoroughly fix up a scooter that hadn't been used in a while, so I could sell it. Well, once sold, the "new" tires soon popped. The headlight didn't work. The starter stopped working. It eventually completely broke down and had to be towed. Cannot emphasize how horrible of an experience we have had with their service department. I have taken my scooter to them 3 times. Each time, the scooter comes back with something broken that wasn't broken before. Each time, they try to charge me more than I was quoted for. Each time, they have had the scooter for 3+ weeks. Each time, I have had to call them to get an update or to ask them if they have even started on my scooter. If you're okay with not having your scooter for 3+ weeks, getting it back more broken than your brought it there, having to constantly call to find out any updates, and getting charged more than you were quoted for, than this is the place for you. We confirmed the logistics and payment terms, and I just received a call to let me know that they will be unable to fulfill their commitments. I had a great experience purchasing a scooter from College Scooters & Navid. I had previously gone to the Vespa location in Arlington and did not get a good vibe from the salespeople there. Navid took a lot of time to review all the scooter options at College Scooters and discussed the pros and cons of all of them. He also let me test ride two different scooters and had no issue with me taking my time. Ultimately, I decided to purchase a Fiddle 3, which has a lot more power than 50CC scooters. I purchased the scooter outright, and Navid talked me through all the paperwork and didn't rush me out the door. My boyfriend and I had to run other errands, but Navid was more than happy to leave the scooter locked in front of the shop for me to pick up later. I tried to buy parts here. They took my order and charged my credit card. 10 days later I tried to contact them to inquire about the order. I was told the service manager would call me back. I never got a call. 14 days after the order was placed I caled again. I identified myself and said I was calling about the order. I was cut off - phone call ended. I called back and got hng up on again. I called back a third time and was told they were having phone issues. They would call me back on another phone. I never received a call! This has got to be the worst customer experience I have ever encountered. Emails went unanswered also. Had to call my credit card company and dispute the transaction. So this whole adventure starts after my work parking garage hiked up the daily rate...again. Now, only working three days a week in the office, the cost of driving in and parking on those days went over $225/month and I started looking for alternative ways to get to work. FRI, May 18: After several weeks of trying (and failing) to buy a scooter from at least three business in VA (crazy that it was as difficult as it was, but I won't get into that here), I called College Scooters, spoke to Navid, about the Lance Soho 50. They didn't have the Lance Soho 50 in stock, but they did have the Genuine Venture 50 (which is actually the one I wanted). I decided to drive up to College Park and check it out. Checked it out, liked it, decided to buy it. It was actually a little past closing, so I decided to go back first thing in the morning the next day to pay, pick up Certificate of Origin, register it, then drive it back home. SAT, May 19: Drove back to pay and pick up the certificate but was told there was a problem and they would need to get a corrected certificate, but that they couldn't even get it mailed to them until Tuesday. At this point, I give them a $500 deposit. THU, May 21: The certificate arrives, so I drive back to pay the balance and pick up the certificate then get the tags from the DMV. Because of the problem with the title, they offer to deliver the scooter for free, but I decide I'll just head back out there and drive it back. FRI, May 22: Scooter picked up and driven home. Finally! SAT, May 23: Take it out for a dry run to work Everything seems fine. SUN, May 24 - FRI, June 1: Out of town for work. SUN, June 3: Take it on another dry run to work. I fill it up, get home, go to cover it up for the night, and notice fresh oil all over the underside of the transmission. Thinking I overfilled the gas tank (why I thought this was problem, I have no idea), I cleaned off all the oil and planned to recheck it in the morning. MON, June 4: I get it ready to ride again and notice that there is still fresh oil on the underside of the transmission. I clean it off and drive around Alexandria for a while to once again verify there is an oil leak (why I kept verifying, I have no idea). I stop randomly while riding it and each time, fresh oil is present. I get home and yep, more oil. I clean it off again. TUE, June 5: I ride it to work for the first time, but surprisingly, when I get there, very little oil was present. While at work, I call the shop and am told that I could check all three drain plugs for leakage, but if those turned out to be okay, I should have it towed since the scooter comes with roadside assistance. I get home, check it again and of course, more oil leaking. I check the drain plugs and they're fine so I call the number for roadside assistance. Since I just got it though, the information for the roadside assistance hadn't been submitted at the time I call and I'm told that I'd have to pay for the tow (which wasn't going to happen). I decide to keep verifying that it's actually leaking. WED, June 6: I don't drive it to work that day, but after work I check it and again, oil is leaking. Convinced it can't possibly be a defect and convinced it was just overfilled or something simple like that, I ride it around again, wiping off oil as I go. THU, June 7: I go to meet a friend for lunch in Crystal City and decide to drive the scooter. I get almost all the way there, decide to check to see if it's leaking (which it is) and finally decide enough is enough, call the shop, and explain to Navid what's been going on. Navid sends the van to pick up the scooter from Crystal City...I Uber home. FRI, June 8 - Friday, June 15: In shop for repairs. I'll admit, I am a bit annoyed that it wasn't ready when I was told it would be (I was told Wednesday/Thursday), but an extra day in the shop is the least of my concern at this point, but it's finally done, so I grab a Lyft out to College Park to pick it up. I stop a couple time just to check that there wasn't any oil leak...and it was dry every time I stopped. Finally! I get home and cover it up for the night. SAT, June 16: I go out to walk the dog and decide to check to see if everything is dry. IT WAS NOT. There was fresh oil on the underside of the transmission...again. At this point I'm over it. I call Navid to tell him what's going on and figure out where we go from here. Navid agrees to replace the scooter. That decision alone is the reason I gave College Scooters five stars. The way I look at, he didn't have to do that, but rather than have me suffer through repairs that could have been as serious as an engine replacement due to a bad casting, he decided to just take care of the problem once and for all. He made it right without thinking twice about it (he may have unleashed a stream of profanity after we hung up for all I know, but he was 100% professional while I was on the phone with him)...and I am eternally grateful. read more

Been riding scooters for ten years now. This is the worst service that I ever received. Let me explain: My scooter was dropped off here on November 5th, 2021. It had a flat rear tire. Easy fix. One month later, I have my scooter back. That's right, it took an entire month to fix a flat tire. To top it off, apparently my scooter was ready four days ago. But no one called, until someone finally followed up to see if I was going to come and get it. Really poor service. Good luck ever getting someone on the phone. Good luck ever getting an apology. We've lived in DC for over 5 years now and up until Covid, always felt like walking or taking public transit where sufficient means of travel. Once Covid hit these no longer felt like options and we felt really trapped within the city. We considered getting a car but we hated that idea and came to the conclusion that something more fun would help to beat the Covid blues. We had been riding the Revel (NIU NQi) electric scooters around town prior to Covid and really enjoyed them so we looked up the closest place to purchase one. College Scooters came up and we could not have been luckier that they were our nearest dealer. Navid was awesome! Not only did he help answer my millions of questions (I had a lot!) he also processed our whole transaction via email and phone so everything was contactless. I could see how making such a large purchase sight unseen could be scary but I felt completely at ease during the whole process. They even dropped the scooters off on the day and time of our choosing which was beyond convenient. My husband and I both got one and we spent the whole day riding around DC as soon as they were delivered. These scooters have already totally transformed our view of the city and they are SO much fun to ride! In addition, the NIU brand is so cool! Quite, electric, environmentally friendly, doesn't require gas or oil changes, has a super cool app and amazing anti-theft features, the battery is removable so it's no problem to bring it into your urban dwelling to charge AND they're virtually maintenance free when compared to gas scooters. Essentially, they are the perfect commuter bike for the city and go a sufficient speed for zipping around DC. I wish we had purchased them sooner and I'm looking forward to continuing to work with Navid as we maintain our scooters. I live in Baltimore City and was interested in getting a scooter to zip around downtown for errands and to get to the gym. After doing a little bit of research, it seemed like the Genuine Scooter brand would be a decent first scooter. College Scooters is a dealer, so I sent them an email about taking a class (I'd never ridden before). Zane was super helpful and patient with me in my lesson. After about 10 minutes, I started to get the hang of it, and at the end, I was pretty sure I could do this. I'd initially come in for a larger model, but I couldn't figure out how to get it on the stand, so Zane helped me find a better fit (the Buddy 50). The bottom-line price for a new one wasn't in my price range, but Zane contacted me a week or two later letting me know a used one in great shape had come in. I bought it, they delivered it to my house in Baltimore (at no extra charge!), even registered it for me and got tags. Overall, super friendly, very responsive, not pushy, and very knowledgeable. Recently bought a scooter here to use for local errands and out of all the scooter/vespa shops in the DMV area these guys seemed to have the best reviews by a landslide. I bought the 50 cc buddy scooter and for the money it is a fun scooter. Ran into a few technical issues early on but Navid and Zane were quick to address these and get me back on the road. Only advice for new buyers would be I came to this store being fairly new to scooters and motor bikes and wasn't really briefed that a 50 cc has substantially less engine power than say a 150 cc, and that in purchasing a lower cc scooter you are prone to more difficulty on hills and reaching higher speeds. If I had been knowledgeable about that I would have gotten a 150 cc scooter. It is frustrating being on major roads with an incline and topping out at 35 with a line of cars on your butt trying to pass you. I would normally cite this as a 4-star experience but Navid and Zane provided really great customer service throughout. Nonetheless the 50 cc is a blast for now and will likely be back in the near future to purchase a higher cc bike. read more

I made an appointment for a NIU-GT test drive. I live 40 miles away, but no scooter was available when I arrived...no NIU's at all, regardless of model. Two days later, I called to get some additional information and the background noise was so bad that it was impossible to carry on a conversation. It was my intention to purchase an NIU-GT but if this is the way things work when you are trying to spend money with College Scooters, then I can't imagine how bad it could get if you've already spent the money and now need service. read more

I had a really great experience with Navid when I bought my Lance Cabo 125. The interactions with my last dealer, Vespa of Arlington, left a bad taste in my mouth, and I decided not to buy another bike from them. After testing out a Sym bike when I was in Europe, I realized I could buy one here in the US under the Lance brand. I called College Scooters and told Navid about my experience renting a Sym while on vacation and that I was interested in the Cabo 125. He told me he was about to order some Lance bikes and might be able to give me a discount on the freight costs. He followed up with an email later that evening, and the next day we sealed the deal. A week later I picked up the bike, but first Navid was nice enough to help me install my top box. Overall, I found Navid responsive and fair, and I'm glad to finally have a dealer that I don't dread having to interact with. Also, if you're looking for a really awesome, fun bike that's significantly cheaper than its competitors, give Sym (aka Lance) a try. For the same price as my old 50cc I have significantly more power, and it's so much more fun zipping around DC! read more

I'm a new motorcyle owner. I need tires put on and was looking for someone close by. I called and spoke with Mason. He was very helpful. The quote was very competitive so I went with their shop. When I arrived everyone was friendly and there was a very relaxed environment. The work took a little longer than expected because they need a additional tool. The mechanic Wlater came out and explained the work that they were doing. I was kept informed about the delay and the entire process. There was an item listed on the quote that wasn't needed and they were quick to adjust it. They even noticed that my clutch needed adjusting and they took care of it. These days it's very hard to find mechanics or service people that are trustworthy. I feel that I that I have found the shop for me. I HIGHLY recommend them! read more

They do not follow up. Several different people told me they do not sell motorcycles, in other words they don't know basic things about their own store. I asked them to order a part for me, they said they would. Then a week later I called to check on it. They said they forgot to order it and had to wait for someone with authority to order it. NEVER buy and ESPECIALLY DO NOT SELL a scooter here. DO NOT BUY OR SELL FROM THIS STORE. Extremely rude staff and a complete lack of professionalism. I had to jump through so many hoops to get my scooter sold, including a never ending appraisal process as well as items getting lost. I was told an appraisal would take 2 weeks and made very clear that after my appraisal, I would like to keep procession of my scooter for a few more weeks just to finish out the school year. After two weeks, I called to check in and it still was not finished do you short staff and end of season rush. Totally understandable. After another 2 weeks, I had to call to figure out where my scooter was since I was never told. My appraisal had been finished for a while but because of a lack of communication within the shop, no one contacted me and had any idea I needed my scooter back. I was then told that some of my belongings had been thrown out because they thought it was trash, as well as items such as my helmet and locks had been lost. Luckily I was refunded for those items after being interrupted and talked down to by Frencel. I have NEVER been treated so rudely by a store employee ever. I am now writing this review months after selling my scooter because IT WAS NEVER UNREGISTERED TO MY NAME. The bike has been stolen and I have no contact to the owner to tell them where the bike is and I am responsible for any impounding. read more

We live in VA so we couldn't get to the store before its closing time so we made an appointment and they stayed a full two hours beyond their regular hours for us to look at scooters and do test drives. Navid was super helpful and friendly and we love supporting local stores. Bonus: they do delivery in the nearby areas--we got our scooter delivered to us in Fairfax for only $100. It was a relief since we didn't have a truck or a trailer and didn't think it would be super safe to drive on the freeway all the way back. The store has several brands of scooters: Lance, SYM, Genuine. Most scooters are new but they also sell some used scooters. I went to the shop 3 times over 4 days - first to look at scooters, then to take a class, then to pick up my scooter after it had been registered over the weekend. I worked with Zane throughout the entire experience and couldnt say enough positive things about his service. He taught me how to ride the scooter from the ground up - I had no previous experience. He went through everything slowly and step by step. I felt in control and safe the whole time learning. After that, I purchased my scooter and he kept me up to date about getting the registration even when the shop was closed. I picked up the scooter two days later. I had had mostly (though not fully) satisfactory service from them until recently. I brought my scooter in for service as a walk-in and was told I needed an appointment. There is a link on the website for making a service appointment online, but I had had no luck with them earlier in getting them to respond to anything done with their website online, so I wasn't going to use that. I know I could have called to make an appointment, but I had been a walk-in before for all other regular service. I left my scooter for an appointment slot for the following day and not only requested but discussed one specific repair in addition to the standard ones. A full 6 days past my appointment time when they said they could do all of the work, *I* was the one who had to call to find out if the work had been done. There had been no attempt to call me and no messages left by anybody from there. I was told that all the work had been done EXCEPT the specific requested repair. i was told this could be done in 5 or 10 minutes. I asked why that quick, easy repair couldn't have been done during the allotted appointment time I was told I needed (and was supposedly given) or even in the extra days they had my scooter in their possession since then. There was really no acceptable answer. They said a mistake had been made but they weren't willing to do anything to make up for that mistake - for the long delay in notifying me that my scooter was available and for finishing the repairs. The reason I was given was that the manager had been out for the past couple of days. Even if a manager is not present, I can't believe that somebody doesn't keep the employees who are there accountable for their work and making sure work requested by customers is done. The management there has gotten bad, and the ones who lose out are the customers. From what I see, they are now not listening to customers. They are disregarding their requests and not communicating with customers, even to tell them that they won't make repairs. I don't feel I can go back and pick up my scooter. I fear they will disregard me again, as they did before. So I have lost my property because of their poor service. read more

My son attended UMD as an out of state student last fall and purchased a Lance Cabo 50 scooter from College Scooters. At that time he received very helpful service and was able to get everything he needed to use his scooter right away. In December, my son decided to transfer and move back to Colorado, so we needed to sell his scooter. We asked College Scooters to help us and they took his scooter in on consignment and within a very short period of time, they sold it and sent us a check. This entire process was incredibly seamless for us, which was very much appreciated at a stressful time when we had so many other things to take care of. I am a honda ruckus owner and was looking for a local business to get some maintenance work done. The ruckus I brought them needed some ordered parts, a full look over, and had some aftermarket parts on it already. I was really pleased with the friendliness and quality of work that the mechanic did. The price was certainly fair and so far, having ridden my ruckus a few times, can report it runs great (as good as i'd hoped). The mechanic knew about some of the aftermarket nuances about my bike and ordered the right parts to get it going! I recently purchased my first scooter from College Scooters. I was blown away by the customer service I experienced here. Navid took the time and effort to walk me through the different options of scooters. He really listened to what I was looking for and helped me find a scooter that really fit. I came in with my boyfriend who rides a motorcycle and rather than talking directly to him boyfriend (as most motorcycle/scooters dealers do even though I'm the one buying) Navid spoke directly to me and he wasn't patronizing as the others have been. When test riding the scooter Navid was patient and took the time to walk me through every step from starting the scooter to practicing turns in the surrounding area. These were things I learned in my motorcycle course 2 year ago, but it was nice to have Navid walk you through it bit by bit, rather than putting me on the scooter and saying 'good luck'! I can't say enough great things about this shop. I've been through the process of shopping for, purchasing and eventually selling a motorcycle and as a female I can tell you that can be a frustrating endeavor.
