I have been working with Duos Catering for my wedding as they were one of the vendors offered by our venue. After deciding to move forward with them, I informed the employee that I had a few clarifying questions and requested a call on Friday, the 23rd. The employee responded enthusiastically, saying, "Happy Monday! This is great news!! Thank you for choosing Duos Catering. I (we) will take great care of you!!" However, I was supposed to receive a call from her on Monday, which never happened. I followed up on Tuesday with my availability but did not receive a response. On Wednesday, after not hearing back again, I reached out once more, requesting a specific time to connect. The employee agreed, but a few hours later, I received an email saying, "I'm so very sorry, but unfortunately, we are no longer available on the date you requested. I was just informed that my co-worker already booked an event on the date you requested, and due to the holiday weekend, we can only take one event. I do apologize for the inconvenience. Please let me know if there is anything else I may help with." I was shocked by this email. We were ready to move forward and would have paid on asap if she had followed up as discussed. To be informed via email, and not even with a phone call, that they were no longer available was extremely unprofessional. When I called to discuss this, I was told that the other team member had not communicated with her about another couple booking the same date. I asked to speak with a manager and was contacted by the owner, Ben. During our conversation, Ben acknowledged that he was the one who booked the other client and said, "Yeah, I have been talking with them before you." FLOORED. This entire situation could have been avoided with clear communication. Had I been informed that a hold had not been placed, I would have expedited the payment process. I can never get tired of using this place. Usually I get over the menu quickly, but the food here always tastes fresh. The patties are large and the bread matches. They don't put a bunch of old toppings on so I can make it very personal to my likings. Their fries are the best! Especially when they are freshly hot, they have the perfect balance of soft and crisp. I cannot stress this enough, use their if you want a good meal prepared. Just made an order for takeout on their COVID menu. I actually don't know if they have a non-COVID menu, but everything we ordered was a-freaking-mazing. They had a family chicken dinner with 6 honey glazed thighs, brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes and 3 people finished that off along with 2 chicken burgers, an asian bowl, a side of lumpia, side of samosa and a side of corn dogs. I swear we weren't high... the food was just so good. I hope, *hope, HOPE they continue this menu because I would order the same things as frequently as I can afford. I couldn't wait to write this review! I have never had anything catered in my life so I asked a couple catering companies for costs for a small graduation party (40+ people). Both Duos and the other company replied right away but Duos fit my budget better. I have a friend who owns a restaurant and also does catering, and said the pricing was spot on. I ordered the Street Taco Bar and Oh. My. Goodness. I was thinking tortillas, meat and corn with some salsa. But it was more, so much more. It was carnitas (my best friend is Mexican and she said they were perfect), steak and shrimp, with black beans, rice and corn. That was accompanied by the corn tortillas and an array of toppings (salsa verde, crema, mango salsa, pico de gallo, cilantro and onion, pickled vegetables and I think one or two more items). Everything came with a little tent card label things. We didn't use them, but it's better to have the cards than to not have them. My people aren't picky and eat everything. Delivery was scheduled for 12:45 p.m. Jan delivered the food and unlike me, she was on time. She was super friendly, told me what was what and left us to devour the BEST FOOD. My guests went crazy for the food and kept asking me if I'd cooked it myself. I brazenly said, "yes, of course," then, with head hung low, mumbled, "no, I didn't." P.S. We wanted to support a local business while eating delicious food and we were not disappointed. The curbside pick up was easy, everyone friendly and the food was outrageously good. We had the lasagna and then the shrimp tacos. Amazing! So good in fact that we went from there to their deli in Eastlake and got dinner to go. Having delicious and attractive food was one of our highest priorities for the event, so we were delighted to hear all the compliments from our guests. Duos catering was recommended by my wedding vendor and were very pleasant to work with. My fiance had one request for the dinner at our reception: "no 'wedding food!'" We all know what that's like- lifeless and dry pieces of chicken, reheated potato puffs, soggy salads. Duos was nothing of the sort- we opted for the street taco buffet and were treated to deliciously stewed taco meats with all the fixings, a spicy tray pass to begin and salads to please everyone. Duos made my wedding. Yes, yes indeed they did. When on the hunt for caterers, I hadn't even HEARD of Duos before, and had them as a back burner option while I contacted other vendors. Well, those other vendors either never got back to me, were ridiculously expensive, or had food that just didn't cut the snuff. Duos however was always on the ball with responding to me in regards to ANY set of questions I had (and I had a lot). Our coordinator Nikki was one of the friendliest gals around, and worked so well with the low-key vibe Chris and I wanted with our wedding. We knew after the first (and may I mention, FREE) menu tasting we had with her that Duos was the catering company for us. So - first off, the most important thing: the food. Delicious. ~We~ obviously loved the food since we chose them, but all night at our wedding we kept hearing things like "best wedding food ever" and "where are these guys they are SO good!". We had crab cakes to die for. An apple salad that was the first thing be run out of at our buffet. Delicious beef AND chicken entrees for folks to choose from. Starchy goodness in white truffle mac and garlic mash potato forms. Awesome rolls. They even added asparagus to our buffet line for free for a little extra variety on the plate. Everything was so good, and so well presented. Secondly -- with food that good you would expect a hefty price tag, no? Well think again! Our buffet menu options (which included upgrades to that fancy mac and cheese and a delicious short rib crostini) only totaled out at a paltry $28 a person. Their options start even LOWER, at $19 a head if you choose less options, and upwards to however high you want to go with more food and fancier custom options at your disposal. We feel lucky we got such a great menu for such a great price tag. Thirdly -- service. I already mentioned what a joy it was to work with Nikki prior to the wedding, but day of the crew we had was on the ball, friendly, professional, and unobtrusive. From the setup, to the flip, to cleaning up and packing the venue -- Duos was AMAZING. I cannot fathom my day going as smoothly as it did without having them on board. The nice part about Duos being a restaurant/caterer is that you can test out the goods before even getting to the tasting sessions (where cooking items for 20-30 people is a more true test of how well the items hold up in scale.) Their restaurant side is great, lots of tarted up apps that I don't know that I'd call "gastropubby" (no "foams" or unnecessary elements, just high quality ingredients in a fun plating) but are certainly fun takes on traditional snack fare. Truffled Beecher's mac & cheese, buttermilk and sweet corn crusted corndogs with chipotle honey, miniburgers with onion/bacon jam / fries with a fondue sauce, etc. We went with a buffet-style serving of mostly northwest-local foods, the servers were great, the bartender was charismatic, and the main point of contact Nikki was well on the ball with any requests / needs we had. Even past our enjoyment and that Duos was surprisingly one of the more reasonably priced vendors, several of our guests stated that it was the best wedding food they've ever had. Rustic accents brought into modern design created a hip vibe with high class. Plenty of comfy seating throughout and outside patio area. Catering was elegantly suave. A group of us went to Duos tonight for their happy hour and it was so great. The food was incredible and great happy hour drinks. The best part was the atmosphere, couches to relax and chat with friends and then every Thursday there is a band (one man) who is just great. I have been to so many weddings with boring chicken dinners - it was great to have food that made our wedding feel like an upscale cocktail party. I'm not giving them the full five stars because I thought the bartender they had for our event was a little inappropriate. Reading over their reviews, I got in contact with them. What a fantastic operation! Rachel was so patient with all of my questions and changes to the menu. The tastings of menu foods confirmed that we had found what we were looking for in a caterer. As we got closer to the wedding date, Rachel was there checking and re-checking our plans for food, rentals, and seating arrangements. The day of the wedding she and the staff were amazing in setting up and serving for 180+ guests. The food was so delicious! Let me preface this very long review by saying that the food Duos prepared for our wedding was delicious! But after my experience working with them I feel more than a little bit tricked by all of the glowing reviews I read here on Yelp, and I feel bad for giving them their first non-five-star review, but it has to be done. We first met with Joshua six months before our wedding, and unlike other caterers the tasting he held was a private dinner in his own home. It was delicious and Joshua was awesome and we fell in love with this family run business. After that things went down-hill. We were turned over to Carrie who would be our contact to figure out all the more logistical stuff. She was very unresponsive. She sent us our first pricing estimate a little more than a month after our initial meeting - the price looked good, until I realized that it did not include any estimate for how much the rentals would cost or the staffing for the event. I emailed her right away asking what these might end up costing, but did not hear back for several weeks with the general response that "there was still a lot to discuss before getting those estimates". A few months before the wedding we wanted to meet with Carrie at our reception venue to figure out how they would be able to fit in the space and other such details, she never responded to our emails to say that she would come (which was extremely stressful) but she did end up coming anyway (thank goodness). She was really nice in person, and it was great meeting with her. After this meeting I emailed her several times again asking if she had gotten enough information to give us at least a rough estimate on how much the rentals and staffing would be, and after 2 weeks I got a response that she would get back to me in a week with that. After not hearing back from her after that week was up I emailed again and she responded with the updated estimate that included the rental costs but not the staffing. It would take another 2 weeks to get the staffing costs. The rental costs were literally double the price of the 3 other caterers we had looked into before choosing Duos. Unfortunately we did not get these numbers sooner or we would have seriously considered going with a different caterer. To give a few examples: the table cloths from other caterers were around $8-$10 each - Duos' were $19. Then the 5 - 50 cents higher price on things like plates and glasses really started to add up when multiplied by the number of those items we would need. The other thing that really made the rental price go up was the fact that Duos does not provide their own buffet and serving ware, so that was another $400. After dealing with all the unresponsiveness and unorganized-ness, I was just hoping that on our actual day they would pull it together and show us that they really deserved all those other 5-star reviews I read here on Yelp. When it came to the deliciousness of the food, that was certainly the case. But that's where it stops. They were consistently behind schedule all evening. Then, we had given them our head count of 120 people and about 8 people were no-shows the day of, but despite that they still ran out of food and about 12 of our guests had nothing to eat but potatoes. The way the food was presented was very unappetizing, and my first instinct is to blame myself for choosing breakfast as the theme, but then again they were the ones that chose the actual items they served so I would think they would know how to present them in a way that matched some of the comments here on their beautiful presentations. They didn't label any of the food, so that paired with the unappetizing look of it was bad. Lastly, we were having waffles, and they were making them on-site which was super cool because they would be all fresh and whatnot, but they only had one waffle maker and didn't make any before we started coming through the buffet line, so some people gave up waiting for them and didn't get one, most people didn't even know that there were waffles, and some people waited for a considerable amount of time to get one, and by the time the last 5 tables (out of 13) were going through the line the food was cold. Maybe for smaller events Duos would be a good choice, but I would consider looking for someone else it it's anything large or important. I'm really sorry it didn't work out :( read more

We went to several tastings prior to our wedding from some very high profile Seattle caterers. They were nice, and the food was delicious. However, when I went to the tasting at Duos, I was blown away, and that was that! They were incredibly funny and nice at the tasting. The food...divine! My husband couldn't make it to the tasting, so they sent home a little care package of leftovers. When he noshed on them cold and straight out of the fridge the next day, he was hooked! They were happy to work with us to create a menu that accommodated our bacon loving/vegan/gluten-free/vegetarian friends and family (and when the die-hard carnivores in our group start raving about the vegan and vegetarian food, you know it's delicious). They also offer bartending services, and came up with a couple of signature cocktails/beers/wines that were awesome too. The morning of our wedding: The rental coordinator was late getting there. I screwed up the linens. The rental company missed some items. I was nearing panic mode. They calmly dialed their cell phones an everything was taken care of. *swoon* Throughout the rest of the day: People could not stop raving about the food. The drinks were delicious. Every time my husband or I set our glasses down for photos we would come back to find it mysteriously filled. They personally served us as we went through the buffet. People raved again about the food and drink, and about how funny and cool the bartender was. Afterwards they cleaned everything up impeccably, and were out of there in flash. I wanted to do something different and exceptional, but also wanted to steer clear of all the waste of doing boxed meals. Josh put together an amazing spread. What I really appreciated about their catering was it felt like I had ordered something right off the menu from a very local specialty shop. Nikki was our coordinator, and she was fantastic - responsive, accommodating, calm and collected. She helped us figure out what we needed and what we didn't to create our vision, she graciously made a thousand adjustments over the months that we were planning together, she showed up early, stayed late, went above and beyond, and was simply awesome. We've already had several guests say it was the best wedding food they've ever had, and while we ourselves were too busy with prep and interacting with guests to meet the staff members directly, we've also gotten reports of individual staff members happily accommodating guest requests and how professional and polite they were. In short, this overwhelmed control freak could just let go and know that It. Was. Handled. I can't tell you how much that added to my enjoyment for the night! As West Seattleites, we knew of Duos' great reputation, but even then they exceeded our expectations for our daughter's wedding reception. She never hesitated to put them at the top of her list going in, with no one else as a backup. The communication was great, the cost was very affordable (and the estimate was very accurate); the food and service were both excellent. Like others who have reviewed Duos here, we experienced the top notch quality of food, knowledge, and service, with Melissa leading the way, tending nicely to our questions and needs before and on the day itself. As the reception continued, we chatted with them all, always asking "how was the food," of course, we knew the answer before we even asked. The turn around of the venue was quick, the attitudes of the servers and bartender were great, and nothing was left to chance. While all the food choices were excellent, the chicken was superior to that of many restaurants in Seattle we've tried, even the ones with chicken as their top menu item. The guys behind Duos Catering are simply pros-- smart, friendly, easy to work with and experienced in all types of cuisine for a variety of palates. They catered a lunch in Seattle that I had planned for work, and I got nothing but raving compliments and satisfied smiles as the guests ate the amazing Yukon Garlic Mashers, the Braised Beef Steak Mushroom Au Jus, and the Caprese Pesto Pasta Salad. I was so blessed to have Duos Catering here at Washington Hall tonight. This was their second wedding that they catered at Washington Hall. They are queer positive and often cater many LGBTQ events. I can't wait to visit their restaurant in West Seattle. They were generous and kind to waiters and waitresses. Their cook asked me to taste their delicious food, when he found out that I was Filipino and we shared lots of laughs around memories of mothers, taga-lish, and childhood. All this goodness was fused into this cooks food which was Filipino influenced American food. He shared advice on making rice and marinated meat better. The food was so simple, but the flavor was explosive. Want to know how to make even rice taste better? Ask Duos Catering!
