Completely inefficient jury process. 150+ people waited in lobby from 8am-10am without announcement. 2 groups were called around 10am. Other 50ish people waited in lobby all day without notice. Waiting area had Vending machine with $3 candy bars. There is complimentary cups of water. Shocked how many people's time is wasted through this On positive side the people are fairly friendly. read more

The main problem is that they do not allow citizens (victims, witnesses, defendants) to bring in their cell phones. This makes it impossible for people to contact their attorneys or call for a ride after court. Cook County allows cell phones into the courthouses without any issues, DuPage should allow the same. read more

Okay, I didn't read the reviews before I had to report for jury duty. Let me help you out. This complex consists of multiple buildings. DO NOT turn in at the "Main Entrance" which is a stop light. I wish I had known that because even though the sign says building 505 the actual drive ends at 501 with no additional signs. However, if you enter at the "North Entrance" I am pretty sure there are signs pointing in the right direction. The reason this is a problem is because the number for this building in on the east side of the building and driving up ~ you are looking at the west side of the building. So, drive to the end and enter the free parking garage. It will be busy and looks very crowded ~ that is because you can only drive one way and it just takes you in a loop. However, if you follow the "out" sign instead of the "parking" sign there are tons of available parking spaces. The garage is not attached directly to building 505 but just a short distance which may impact weather related dress and accessories. Once in the building there is 1 security check point and everything goes through the scanner. The wait time was not extensive. The jury room is spacious, coffee, tea, and ice water are provided. There are vending machines for other items. Restrooms are within the confines of the room. Just bring something to help you pass the time, and, yes, cell phones and laptops are allowed. You receive your check when you leave. read more

Had to report in for jury duty. Large, comfortable area to wait in. Clean. Huge windows that let in the sunshine. Lockers (free) for your personal items within the waiting room. Outlets and workstations for those who brought laptops. TVs all throughout the waiting room. Adequate parking garage steps way from the courthouse. Very clear instructions provided by the staff. The only bad thing was the cafeteria. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich... Probably one of the worst I ever had. It was bland and rubbery. Awful. But the price was fair.. $5.35 for the sandwich, fries (rather soggy), and a 20 oz. Fountain drink. I should have driven somewhere... Which they gave us the option to do. Drat! Judge Sexton sucks. Literally. She doesn't care who you are and if you ask a question you are threatened with Jail. She also has an officer and secretary that will yell and threaten you too. There is no way this woman should still be seated and yet has an obvious disregard for others. She is sitting waiting to retire to collect her pension. If you have her, request another courtroom and Judge. You have been warned. read more

So I am having to ask a question about a court date but the phone system will literally not allow you to talk to a person. Since they are only open when all other people work, I attempted email. After a few attempts I was greeted with return emails saying the addresses were not valid...even though they came from the website. I verified that the link itself had no misspellings and it did not. Seems like they are only interested in speaking to you when you arrive to pay a debt or serve for jury duty. read more

I somehow lost my drivers license at the last Yelp event, and when I went to the DMV for a replacement, was told my payment for a ticket hadn't been cleared in the system. That required me to go to the DuPage County Courthouse to get Reinstatement paperwork. I'm not familiar with the DuPage County Courthouse complex and have only been there twice before to go to the Regional Office of Education (ROE), presumably in a different building. I called because, once I got to the complex, I wasn't sure if I needed to go to the Judicial Building or the Administration Building. The woman on the phone wasn't helpful, so I had to drive around to find the "505" address on the building (turns out it's the Judicial Building)! There's a (pretty full) parking lot and a parking garage outside of the building. Before you go inside, LEAVE YOUR PHONE IN YOUR CAR. You can't enter the area past the ropes/security with a phone that has a camera feature. Apparently there are little locker areas available near the parking garage to lock them up if you've parked further away or on an upper level. I arrived at around 2:50 PM on a Friday. The three security people were friendly. (ESPECIALLY the guy at the xray belt/metal detector - he was super friendly and wished me a good day, too! Very nice!) I was given a number at the counter of the Clerk's Office, which was 4 or 5 numbers away from the person currently being helped. I waited for about 15 minutes to be called to the counter, told the worker what I was there for... she entered a few numbers into the computer, printed off and stamped the Reinstatement document, and I was on my way. It was super easy, but I was bored out of my mind for those 15 minutes. I'll be sure to bring reading material if I ever end up there again, especially at a more peak time of day! read more

If you can avoid this place, by all means do so. In need of a piece of paperwork, we could not avoid it, and our experience left us both gnashing our teeth. The actual parking lot is very small, and was full, so we ventured into the garage. There are signs telling you what you can't bring in, and we did walk past them, but really, you cannot bring a CELL PHONE into the courthouse?! Of any kind?! Security was ridiculously over the top -- my sandals set off the metal detector, so they wanded me down and determined that yep, it was my shoes. I was ready to go barefoot at that point if it would make the process less painful, but I'm sure there's a rule about that too. The website had said there were public terminals where you could access public records, but we were directed to a staffed desk. The lady pulled up the document and then announced the price ($13 or so). The boyfriend asked to pay by debit card, and she said, "There's a fee of [$5?], is that ok?" Well, since you ask, no, it's not ok, but since we don't have cash, I guess we have to pay it if we ever want to leave this place? She kept trying to make suggestions to us even though we were abundantly clear that all we wanted was to get the document and LEAVE, preferably ASAP. Honestly, if you can get what you need without coming here, I highly suggest you do so. It was just awful all around and I will never willingly come back. read more

The amount of people that can't figure out how to work the lockers in the jury lounge is equal parts depressing and not surprising.

How do you give a courthouse a good review? Face it, you're not happy when you go in there! I got a jury summons and really had no excuse to get out of it. Many years ago, when I had 3 kids ages 4 and under, I got out of it. Fast forward 16 years and I got my second summons. I used their online feature to see if I had to report. It's a good option. Then I READ EVERYTHING which clearly explains that you can only bring in a cell phone if you bring your jury summons with you. I brought it along with an extra battery. They have free garage parking which is challenging first thing in the morning. I had to go up a few levels to find a spot. Then you have to go through security and earlier in the day the lines are long. They are full of people who think they can bring their cell phone in and that really slows things down. Read the signs people! I reported to the jury lounge which is pretty nice. Lots of comfy spots to sit with wifi and plenty of places to plug in your laptop or your phone charger. They have tvs with the HG channel blasting, but there is a quiet corner. You have to watch a really cheesy video where people are saying how great it is to be on a jury. It's pretty dated. I was ok with sitting there for the whole day since all my kids were home from school and they had been just a little too much togetherness in August. Really the worst thing was hearing the dumbasses complain about not having anything to do. They didn't bring anything to do! No book, no newspaper, no laptop, low battery on the phone.... It's really scary that the people who can't think far ahead enough to keep themselves occupied waiting are the ones that could be on a jury! read more

There is never a good reason to come to a police station. Their seats in the waiting area are uncomfortable as all hell, for a newer police station I frown upon that. Was happy to discover the vending machines and enjoyed a Mountain Dew in hopes of waking my ass up while waiting to speak to an officer. I hope to never need to come here again. read more

Rude staff, rude guards completely unreasonable in every sense of the word. Watching the traffic court proceedings, in which I was not a defendant, the entire operation seems nothing but a revenue generating scam for the county. The defendants are not given the same courtesy as the police or the prosecutors. There is without a doubt that the judge who was all to familiar the prosecutors and the police was not impartial. It would be accurate to say, Guilty until proven innocent not the other way around. Further investigation showed the the court fees often are far greater than the fine, again nothing but revenue generation. So as somebody who was just watching the proceedings, if you are looking for fairness, impartiality, and justice you won't likely find it in the DuPage County House. read more

Came here to pay an overdue ticket fine. Getting in and out was as painless as it could be. Definitely a streamlined process. As long as you follow the rules and the signs you're golden. There are small lockers you can store your phone in located in the parking garage. read more

I got a speeding ticket violation in Naperville. Unfortunately I did not have a valid proof of insurance in the car at the time. So the ticket stated that I need to appear in the Dupage County Court. As other posters have mentioned there are no Cell Phones allowed. Getting through security was painless. There is a touch screen to check for traffic court attendance which I had never seen before. From my prior experience you go to court, show your proof of insurance, get that charge dismissed, pay your ticket and be on your merry way. But here I got a nasty surprise. I produced the proof of insurance and got that citation dismissed. My speeding ticket was $120, but I ended up paying $325 in fine !!. All the rest of it were court fees. That is 170% more than the fine for the moving violation.There is no transparency either as to what the break up of those fees are. Not having proof of insurance on me cost me much more than the speeding violation. This is day light robbery. I have never experienced this before. So a caution to anyone that reads this .... please carry a valid proof of insurance and registration in your car or you may face the same fate as me. read more

Avoid Judge Brian Diamond. My sister had a court case with Hindsdale Point Condominium Association that had been going through the court system and was ordered to pay $2,653 by December 15, 2014 for fines resulting from pool usage. She paid $2609 but due to an error was $44 short. In November, with out the courts permission posted an eviction notice on her door. My sister took the association to court. On December 4, Judge Brian Diamond, apparently did not bother to read the previous judges order with the due date December 15, and ordered her out of her condo which she bought in 1970. She paid the $44 on December 4, 2015 but she was still evicted. The judge fixed it so that she could not make a motion to review the decision by a trial court he said she would have to go to an appellate court to get her condo back. read more
