Well, patient beware, you might find the billing practices of these folks to be devious. Let me explain. To start, I will comment on the good. Very modern facility, modern equipment and the medical staff are polite and friendly. If you are in need of Ophthalmology services, this is probably a good facility to work with but I couldn't verify since I was there for a simple eye test. However if your in need of a simple eye exam by a Optometrist and you're on a medicare program BEWARE, YOU MOST LIKELY WILL BE OVERCHARGE! To start, you will find the receptionist has an attitude. Not friendly, physicaly out of shape, no smiles, no room for discussion if you have a concern. It's her way or the highway. You ask to see a manager or some authority, you out of luck, it stops with her. There are not managers or directors for either of the facilities. It's the receptionist...period. So I need an eye test so I can get a new eyeglass prescription. My insurance listed this office as a approved provider and states a co-pay ($15.00 in my case). However this is an Ophthalmology facility and eventhough I am seeing an Optometrist for a standard eye text, they code this as a "Specialist" visit. I note that I'm not seeing a specialist (Ophthalmologist) but a Optometrists. Doesn't matter. She tells me I can go elseware if I don't like it. It's years end, I need to use the benefit ASAP or lose it so I decide to go through with the exam, pay the specialist co-pay ($45.00 in my case) and have my insurance get them to correct to overcharge. Now while I'm waiting for insurance to follow up, I then get an invoice from these guys stating I owe an additional $35.00. Why, because unlike other optometrist offices, these guys pull out components of the exam and bill them as separate services. So my standard eye exam from this office became an higher fee exam ($45.00) plus a $35.00 charge for "a Refraction for the routine exam". So what was described in my insurance plan as a $15.00 co-pay has become an $80.00 expense. I've had four other eye exams provided under medicare, all of them fully inclusive of the services and requiring a $15.00 co-pay. I changed my insurance company this year and my past eye doctor was not in network. No problem, I simply go with who the new office the insurance allows. In this case, BAD DECISION! Based on my experience I am of the opinion these folks are knowingly abusing the system with their billing practices. I suspect most folks don't want to deal with fighting this so they accept the abuse and pay the additional fees. So let me do you a favor...be warned. IF YOU PLAN TO DEAL WITH THESE FOLKS, DON'T RELY ON WHAT YOU PLAN STATES YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, YOU BEST GET VERIFICATION OF WHAT THEY WILL BILL YOU BEFORE YOU MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.

The first woman who did the preliminary testing of my vision was very professional and pleasant. I saw the gorgeous, Dr. Meghan Kelleman and she was awesome. She took her time and explained things to me thoroughly. She was very good at making sure I was comfortable during the eye testing and she also has a great sense of humor lol. These are all some of the things I look for personally, that make me want to come back to the same medical professionals. Loved it! *The office is very clean and easy to navigate through. *If you want to see Dr. Kelleman, she usually only has afternoon appointments available.

Both…read morelaughed and scoffed at me over the phone because I asked for the office to fill out a distance verification form for MTM med cab services - like I have for each of my Dr offices - Jessica actually laughed at me, accused me of trying to make her feel stupid, told me that "I didn't have a fantastic tone" and then hung up on me... this practice allows these two "receptionists" to "self manage"... they literally refused to provide the practices email for the MTM Director's assistant to email them the form directly... unbelievable!

If anyone ever tells you that Dr. Thimons is the doctor to see for your eye issues, don't play around. This is by far the most caring Doctor I've ever met. My wife had starting having issues with dry eye, and eye infections. At one point she had a scratch on her eye, that again, got infected, and was not only painful, but it was interfering with her vision. The infection was not responding to normal treatment, and she is allergic to the most commonly used medication for eye infections. Our eye doctor recommended we see Dr. Thimons, who's office is on the other end of the state from us. 1. Eyes are too important to be cheap about, and 2. We are not opposed to traveling. We met Dr. Thimons and his personality was a instant match. He was able to tell us what was going on with the eye, and what he wanted to do in language we could easily understand and at no time did we ever feel he was talking down to us, nor did it even feel like he was dumbing it down. He was matter of fact, direct and had a very comforting manner about him. Things didn't go too well, and her vision was deteriating, and even though we were all but panicking, Dr. Thimons remained calm, and mentioned options to us, and consulted with another doctor, Dr. Stein, and came up with a potential solution. At one point, Dr. Stein stitched a membrain into my wife's eyeball, and sealed her eyelid, as the eye movement, even with a patch was irritating the scratch, preventing it from healing. During the treatments, the doctors had been mentioning her cataracts, but predicted 5 years or so before they would need attention (surgery). The eye finally healed, and the infection was gone. Nothing to do now but follow-up appointments every 6 months with Dr. Thimons. After 3 or 4 such appointments, my wife mentioned that she felt it was getting more difficult seeing, and it was like looking through sheer curtains. Dr. Thimons showed me through the scope, what was going on, and her cornea was pretty much gray. The eye that had the ulcer, scratch and infection now had scar tissue right in her field of vision. It was decided that she needed to have the cataract surgery sooner, rather then later. At this point, her left eyes vision was so bad that she could not make out the large E on the vision chart, basically 20/250, or blind. Dr. Stein did the surgeries, 2 weeks between each eye. After the second surgery, her right eye is at 20/20 with no glasses or contacts, and her left is 20/25, again, no glasses or contacts. The surgery was performed at NEWVISION CATARACT CENTER in Norwalk. Another great place. Basically, Drs Thimons and Stein saved my wife's eye, and totally restored her vision. She has been wearing glasses or contacts since I met her in 1976. Today, she wears neither, and she is so excited at how well she can see, she gets giddy. Since we started seeing Drs Thimons and Stein, we have moved. It now takes 2 hours to get to their closest office, and nearly 3 hours to get to the Fairfield office, and it's well worth the trip. The only issue now is, her remembering she doesn't need to put on her glasses when she gets up every morning.

The technicians were were nice, but one couldn't figure out how to use one of the machines and needed help. It was the one that touched the eye ball to detect pressure. That was rather unnerving. The normal doctor was out of the country so there was a stand in. That person was nice and clean, but missed that I have a prism in my lense. When I pointed it out his response was "Well it's very small." I don't care how small it is, he missed it! I picked out $200 frames and after insurance (which is quite good) the price to me was still over $800! That's ridiculous. I have a basic perscription with one 'small' prism! Once I said no to that, the persons attitude changed, and she turned her back on me ; I became invisible. Two days later I get a call saying I needed to have a special test done to see if i am going to have an occular stroke! Oh and insurance doesn't cover it. Funny that was the same 'dire' phone call my husband received. He did the test and it was nothing. I suspected fowl play here. So I got my exam notes over to a different doctor and he says there is nothing to indicate that I need to have that scan. And yes, the cost of those glasses frames was way too high! WARNING !!!! Watch out for these money grubbing people. They are not putting their clients needs first!

Nothing has changed but the name. I've been seeing (pardon the pun) Dr. Ryan for about 10 years now, and have long since come to be extremely confident in her as a physician. I've always been overly sensitive about having anything anywhere near my eyes (contacts are out of the question for me), but have largely overcome those apprehensions under her care.

As much as I see the convenience of getting my prescription lenses filled at the same location as your doctor, the business hours they offer are limited. I try to keep time off from work to a minimum, and there are so many other options in the optical field that have at least one late weekday night, and Saturday hours as well.

He answered all my questions, and concurred with the assessment of my optometrist who said I have Cataracs right in the middle of my vision. He was able to explain the different options of treatment in a way that I could easily understand and assured me that he does 35 to 40 procedures in one day. He does surgery on Thursdays each week. His staff was always very nice and professional. When I went in to get my surgery, we were stacked up like sausages on our beds all in a row. Lol! And the nurses were really wonderful. I felt taken care of and confident that I was in the right hands.

He is impatient, rude, arrogant, unwelcoming, takes sub zero time to explain surgery, surgery plan. Can't remember discussions of prior visits over mission critical pre and post surgical details. He gossips behind patients backs within ear shot with his own staff. Completely unprofessional. Surgically, he is very rough. He seems to have contempt for his patients. Why he is in this field of medicine is beyond my comprehension. He has absolutely no bed side manner. You will walk out far more confused then when you went in. Because of his lack of explanation alone, is enough to avoid this doctor. These are your eyes. Don't let him touch them. There are far better, more experienced, and compassionate surgeons to be found. Please look elsewhere.
