No welcome or pleasantries upon entering the store. Very huge thrift store with so much to offer. The clothing sizes are organized well. The items are hung in a way for easy inspection by customers. The store is clean and well-lit throughout for inspection of larger items for purchase. There are fitting rooms here. I didn't find much besides a book during my visit here. I overheard employees talking amongst themselves and one mentioned how they were sick and tired of the customers. Very inappropriate. Not sure what this was about.

Great - friendly place. What is really great about this thrift store is all the items are organized! You can look for clothing by size and and if you want women, men, boys or girl clothes. You can even find styles separately (dresses, skirts, suits, shorts and pants) They also sell furniture, kitchen wares, appliances and sometimes even a car! The people are super nice and helpful ( I overheard a worker saying they have a phone number you can call if you need help moving something) I also like to donate here because the mission is wonderful.

The Durham Rescue Mission is not only great place to find gems but it's also a great place to donate gently used items that are in good condition such as items around the house that you no longer need or have outgrown. I love dropping off things that I know could use a good home, instead of trashing them or going through the hassle of gifting (or selling) them on Marketplace or Craigslist, etc. The Durham Rescue Mission takes all sorts of items and with joy. The guys that collect the items are fast and efficient. If you do go there to drop off things, I will say, be mindful of what you drop off and be sure it's not total JUNK. If you're going to donate, think of items that would belong at the Thirft store, and do not use the Durham Rescue Mission as your dumping ground for tattered items or things don't work. It's not fair to them. They also have a sign that says something along the lines of "we have to pay per pound for junk removal (and it's expensive) so please be kind and don't bring your trash." With that being said, they are open at super convenient times, and are located behind the shop on Glenwood. As of 12/13/23, donation hours are: Monday through Saturday: 9AM - 7PM Sunday: 8AM - 4PM

Lots of furniture. Lots of clothes. Lots of books. Decent amount of glasswares. Better than any of the fake Goodwills around for sure.

Most of the staff are great, but one of the tall manager ladies here is really negative, crotchety, weird, and unpleasant always yelling at other employees and never being serviceable to customers - it is always uncomfortable when she is around, so docking a couple stars for her.

Let me start by stating that I am a frequent customer and donator of the Goodwill. I literally shop…read morein various locations several times a week for my grands and family. The staff at this location is extremely rude and sketchy! They hold items for their friends and family and up-charge on items when the prices are clearly listed on the board behind the check out counter. I had a horrible experience at this location, I attempted to ask about an item that was sitting on the sales floor and was told that the item was sold! Now I'm not new to Goodwill so I'm aware that when an item is sold, there is a sold tag that would be placed on the item! This item did not have a sold tag on it, but the woman stated it was sold and refused to give me a price. Literally 3 mins. Later a woman and a young child rushed into the store and she took them Over to the item and sold it to her after I asked about the item! (See Photos for transaction). Secondly, she was made aware that I took a photo of the item and the complete transaction as she discussed it with her friend that she was holding it for, as they stood at the counter speaking about the item and my interest while her friend mentioned she would be back to put in an employment application. (Sketchy). This is the type of shenanigans that is going on at this particular location. Once I approached the counter to check out with the items that I was able to secure, the same store associate tried to up-charge me for a pair of kids sneakers that should have been $2.49 she wanted to charge me $6.99. I declined the item because the price on the board directly behind the counter showed $2.49 for kids shoes. (SMH) The Goodwill is a Non Profit Organization that helps out the local community, but the local community do not want to be taken advantage of by unprofessional workers who are only working there for their own personal/selfish gain. It's a shame that the brand of the company and what they are attempting to do for the local community is being tarnished by people working there who are being petty and selfish. I do intend to take my complaint higher because there is no telling how long this type of behavior has been going on at this particular location and I feel that it needs to be brought to the attention of the Corporate Office. The Goodwill may need to hire some Secret shoppers and some Secret Staffers to make sure that their Brand is not being tarnished by their employees! I buy and donate quite often and just simply do not appreciate the deception and the overcharging of items when prices are clearly listed at the cash register.
