This store has some nice pieces of furniture, although some pieces are more worn and dated than others. I haven't purchased anything yet, but enjoyed my visit and will know where to go when looking for accent pieces. I love Habit for Humanity's cause, so would be happy to support it by making a purchase in this store. We learned of Habitat and Restore after purchasing our first home a few years later. Some neighbors were thrilled and got some lovely pieces of furniture, artwork, light fixtures etc. Our home was new construction and quality build so we did not need that and we would scour the location for anything that might be unique....nothing located. When we decided to upgrade from the builder GE dishwasher, stove and microwave to go with Kenmore products for uniformity in our home, I contacted the number on the donation form to schedule pick up as it was sometime in Dec 2013. The person on the phone said they would NOT take the microwave as it is over 7 years old---closed on our home in 2006. A little surprised as it was in good order no defects and fully functional. I figured someone would be able to purchase 3 items all same brand at a reduced price while we would take a tax deduction. Regardless, I asked the lady what to do with the microwave and she tells me to take it to the dump! Within less than 3 days the crew comes to pick up 2 appliances and another beautiful solid wood piece of furniture. The one guy asks where is the microwave? He even opened the stove and dishwasher that even had the manuals and commented how clean everything was.... I told him that the lady on the phone said they would not take it and dropped it off at the dump per her instructions. He said he doesn't know why they say that when they take the set. I found out our pick up was going to the Raleigh location and most likely the 3 items would be sold around $250 in its entirety! The new dishwasher we purchased on sale with additional discounts was around $850! Therefore $250 a bargain for 3 appliances to help someone in the community. Years ago we went to Raleigh and well worth the drive. Living in Cary and thinking donations from the affluent area would be at the Cary location mistaken. Keeping others informed. Most recently, I had a donation due to a contractor error. Uunfortunately I had no use for the product which was nonreturnable even for store credit. While doing a few errands, I remembered to take this item to the local Habitat Restore. Guess, this was another mistake. No one is at the front of the store desk or register and people are waiting in line. Finally after 5-10 minutes a guy comes from behind a curtain, then an older lady. The guy looks at the item even picking it up and instructs me to walk to the far end towards the exit sign. I get there and at least 3 or 4 guys are there. One of the guys tells me that they don't take this item because "we sell our own brand"! I walked back to the front to exit and asked a general question at the front desk if the store is part of " Habitat for Humanity" and was told yes. Interaction with the older woman, she tells me I could put a "FREE sign" outside the store if someone wants it! Unbelievable.... Reminds me of the time my neighbors put charitable donations to be picked up at the curb on a particular day only to receive a phone call....items were picked up but not by charity just someone driving through with a truck! Charity was interested in the pick up of these donations. This review for Habitat and Restore in Cary is long overdue; however, 0 for 2 rating and Yelp might not post for 1 star and unable to give 0 star reviews!!! The mission statement is a mismatch of what the public understands especially for those who consider to volunteer time, money, or resources to help in the local community. *Note: Fortunately, another charity took the donation and we support them with monetary donations throughout the year! Long story but we will NEVER consider making monetary donations to this organization (Habitat and Restore in Cary) nor participate with our time or resources based on these experiences of zero "0" for 2. Shame on you and your organization there will not be a third time. Has some of the most damaged furnature ive seen anyone trying to sell items are priced above ebay and alot arnt even tested or missing parts i would not buy anything unless its 40% Green to 60% orange off read more

I live relatively close to this store. I found an amazing tan leather love seat in excellent condition for $50. The full couch was available as well but I didn't have room for it. There are mostly. antique type furniture in there which is not my style but I have been able to find some great modern pieces when I've visited. read more

I have only donated furniture and power equipment I no longer need but have yet to shop for furnishings or equipment at the store. I do have an account with them since I first donated, and they have always send an email acknowledgment and thanks for my donation for me to use for tax deductible. However, the acknowledgments do not have enough details if any donation I claim was questionable and get audited. They do provide a free pick-up service for large items as long as you donate two or more items. I used that service when I donated a full-size bunk and an indoor planter. read more

On April 27, 2024 I had a bad experience at this habitat store. A lady cashier had a disagreement with me because I had came to the store the previous day and another male cashier had priced the item I wanted to purchased at .79 less; when I informed her that I no longer wanted those items and wanted only to purchase 2 other items I had selected instead, She appeared not to be aware of what I was saying so I asked her if she and I was on the same page by stating what I wanted to purchase. She seemed to become more frustrated when a friend of mine that came with me came up to the check out to purchase his items. When I began to informing him that the price of the items that I had purchase were not the same as I had paid for them the day before she stopped checking me out to listen to our conversation and I asked her had she finished checking me out. She then became defensive and asked me "why was I being so mean to her" I told her I was not being mean to her I was talking to my friend, As I left the counter I over heard a male cashier who was a self- identified manager say I needed Anger Management classes. He later denied that he made the statement and I requested to speak to a manager because I did not come to the store to be verbally abused. He said he was not going to have his employees abused. I have proof of what occurred, and I am writing this review because for years I have held Habitat for Humanity in high regard. donated items it stores recommended that people apply for homes through Habitat , Performed sweat equity so that people could have descent homes. I would like to know if people who worked their whether they volunteer or are paid receive management and customer service training as this was this was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. read more

I was shopping at the Dorcas' thrift shop next door and was so disappointed in the options available. I was on the hunt for a sofa...a Clean, Modern, Sofa that was relatively small front to back because, well, my other sofa didn't fit through the front door. I looked at every thrift shop in town and only the options at 'cause for paws' were halfway what I wanted... ...that is, until I wandered down the sidewalk to a place that looked more like a discount 'home depot' than your average thrift shop. There were ceiling fans and old doors and windows outside this place and it caught my attention, I thought it might be fun to look inside. We all probably know that habitat for humanity builds homes for people in need, so I figured this is where they sell their old building supplies. Well that's partially true! You can buy doors, windows, lumber, paint, and counter-tops here. You can also find sink fixtures and light fixtures here. But more importantly, this little gem has everything major you would need for "home". Those items that you usually want to buy off Craigslist for cheaper but don't want to drive all over heck and back to go get? They sell them all here! Refrigerators, dishwashers, china hutches, bunk beds, fake plants...you name it! It's like a one-stop-shop for on-the-cheap everything that would normally cost top dollar. The best part is that everything here is stuff you would actually want in your house. Black appliances, granite counter-tops that someone ordered in a color they didn't like but are brand new, real wood furniture. I know it can be a huge turn off to shop at a thrift shop, but when you come to this place you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. This is the thrift shop of thrift shops. Ultimately I paid $80 for my sofa and gosh, it looks better than the granny sofas at all the other places that were priced around $150. Stop reading, get shopping!! read more

Good daily deals to keep your eye on. Watch out if you're buying paint as sometimes the cans aren't full, or are rusty inside. Best to have them open it and check it out before buying. I like this store much better than the Raleigh store, which while certainly bigger, is also cavernous and cold (not the people, just the space.) On the other hand, I enjoyed walking around the Cary store often to get ideas and pick up odds and ends. It's smaller, warmer, and, I feel, better to amble around looking at various doodads and doohickeys. Great staff too. Plus, it's next to Dorcas Thrift so if you're there during the day, you can go over there and support two great organizations. I believe HH closes at 6 on weekdays, and 2pm on Saturdays, though call and check. read more

The staff was friendly, the store was quite large, and if your looking for furniture, rugs, and items to fix your home up (such as lighting) this would be a great place to start! This store will help you to leave lots more money in the budget to get more done within your home that's for sure! I was only looking for few key items, and so this just wasn't the store for me on this particular shopping trip...but could definitely benefit those looking for larger ticket items. Had selected an item for purchase. Asked the man behind the register if I could leave it buy the register as I was still shopping. He said yes. When I went back to pay it had been sold to someone else. At this point there was a woman and the same man behind the counter. The man walked off and the woman explained that it was sold to someone else. There had been a gentlemen in front of me that had set an item aside and his item was still there waiting for him to purchase it. This is the second time this has happened. I will no longer shop there. Most of the items are over priced anyway. You'd be better off shopping at a thrift store. read more

This Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a welcome addition to the Cary/Morrisville area. It is a good deal smaller than the location in Raleigh but don't for a moment think that there are not many treasures to be found here - I have been twice now and have walked away with unbelievable finds both times. This is the thrift store of home improvement. I stopped by after an exhilarating shop at Dorcas and was just as excited about this place. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, so I just browsed for future reference. Well actually I was looking for lumber, but they said most of the lumber they get is sent to the Raleigh store, so I'll be checking that one out too. But this one has lots of gems.
